What did you do in BL2 during your most recent session?

Nice! I’m still working on getting my first OP8 character (Maya). I think I’m at OP5 right now. What console are you on and would you want to run the peak together?

I had a good time farming myself a cobra for perfect parts.

Progressing my Axton toward 72 in UVHM.

First off farmed some Lyudas to take down a super? ultimate? badass constructor in opportunity who had been giving me some grief, so went back for revenge (and to get the final two cameras for the down with handsome big brother challenge).

Then it was off toward Bunker.

I was feeling a bit undergeared for the section but I ended up finding a nice corrosive snider and corrosive maliwan plasma caster along the way, and a loot midget who spawned at the door to Bunker gave me a corrosive bone of the ancients! Talk about fate.

Made the whole ascent without dying which I wasn’t sure I would with a fair bit of off level gear (fastballs are now about 10 levels old).

Did die taking out the last auto cannon, it downed me after I killed it and there were no adds left on the outer rim. But Bunker ended up being destroyed by DPUH + Bee (Bunker’s design allows you to hit with basically the whole spread which is neat, not used to fighting him legit since I play so much Zer0).

So got through there and control core angel without much fuss, then frosty gave me a new shock fastball to cap it off.

Gaige went Hunting the Firehawk, saw 1 LM and 4 Loot Goons. Sadly the best drops were a crappy purple shotty, and a nice Roboteer Class mod.

Also took out The Assassins and Boll. Got a Shock Fremington a Tre Dogg.

Spent a little more time farming Bunker for heads with Mayapocalypse. Only fell off the platform just after taking Bunker down once! I got one more Sham (78% this time) and the Bunker head for Salvador - the flying helmet one. This also gave me enough data to start updating a bit more of part 2 of the Loot & RNG Guide. After that I went and hit Battleborn for a change of pace!

Haven’t written in here for a while. I haven’t really had any writeworthy moments in my leveling up. My plan to catch up to my former PS3 characters is going along very nicely (thanks christmas and new year break from studying) and as of about 15 minutes ago I have 4 characters at 72. The only one left now is Axton (because as some of you may have noticed, I don’t give a damn about Gaige).

Have not hit peak with any of them aside from Zero (still only OP2, haven’t touched him in a while) but this is starting to look like a rather lucrative spot to start doing that. In my former experience there is plenty of stuff that can be made to work on any character up to OP4 at least.

On the other hand this puts me in a rather troubled position. I like playing on OP levels but I don’t like the peak, like most seem to do. Perhaps it’s the forced repetiotion of it, perhaps it’s because I need to farm gear to get where I want in the middle, perhaps the fact the I don’t like being in the same area for ages and it’s so damn long, maybe it’s just that I don’t like the music there (I really don’t and I like playing with game music). I’ve never liked running the peak, but it’s the necessity of getting where I want to be I guess.

Oh well, OP2 should be easy enough to reach with everyone with my current gear. I’ll have to think about who’s going to do which quest for which reward and on what OP-level from this point on for quest reward farming to get everyone as far as possible with minimal resets.

But hey, 4/5 at 72 now!

That is a fun game! Benedict is my BOY!

So, more Maya 2.0 shenanigans today. Started off beating up on Hyperius at OP2 (which was on-level for me at that time). Despite the gear concerns I ranted about last night, it went well. I’m remembering a lot about that fight, that I had learned before and since forgotten over my year-plus break. For instance, try not to drop his shield until right after he pops a double-nova; otherwise, he might do his shield-down nova and a double-nova in rapid succession, and if you’re not ready with that Grog Nozzle right away then that spells disaster. I re-learned to wait until my Bee recovered from a double-nova (or a fizzled nova, for those times you successfully kite him onto the right spot on the road) before putting that fourth minion under the shield, so I can face that next nova fresh. Also, Hyperius dropped me a nice corrosive Shredifier. HEY, I like them! That thing REKT loaders in Washburne later on…

Anyhoo, got sick of Hyperius after he dropped me 2 Tattlers and 3 Retchers. Not Evolution one to be found, so I went ahead and moved on. Did the second-chance mission for the treasure room in Scarlett DLC; nothing really noteworthy there. Decided to go ahead and run the Peak for OP3.

THAT went pretty well, thanks in no small part to user @Jefe recently testing some things on the Peak concerning elements and resistances. The short version: Corrosive works well in general, but against non-critical spots on spiderants it is not as effective as shock. So Florentine got a workout.

Successfully upped the OP to 3. Decided I needed to farm up some better gear for the Hyperius fight, and maybe look ahead to Gee or the Dragons. So reset UVHM, and started the Scarlett DLC.

Well, I’ve just finished the Scarlett DLC. The OP3 trip through the treasure room wasn’t half-bad! Two legos in there, both shields (Transformer and Cradle, but still). A couple other wicked Tediore purple shields, too. It all got sold except the Transformer, of course. On the way through Washburne Refinery earlier, I lucked into a fire Topneaa. Also since found a nice (relatively) shock Prazma Cannon. Some good drops overall this time, but most of it got sold. Picked up Pimp in corrosive and Sandy in fire, both with an eye on the Hyperius fight.

So, after I turned in the main story quest, I accepted the Hyperius one. FT to Washburne. Go to set-up my gear, and realize something very very bad. I NO LONGER HAVE A GROG NOZZLE! Looks like I need to go do the TTAoDK DLC again, at least up to that point. Oh FINE.

And that’s where I left it off for the night.

Tomorrow, it’s TTAoDK first. Get that Grog Nozzle. MAYBE run it all the way through (that’s at least halfway anyhow). Then back to Scarlett DLC to face Hyperius again. And maybe start learning Gee if I get bored of that, or go run the Torgue DLC again.

I’ve been doing different stuff lately. Visiting bosses that I don’t hear about often, like the Golden Golem, Jackenstein, and Motor Mama, and adding fun along the way by either doing speed clears to them, or trying to sprint straight to them without fighting anything (where such things can be done). With Motor Mama, I tried to get the best B0re shot I could get with Zero…

In contrast, I used Deputy Sal to shoot yo mama right off her trike…

Those were more dramatic endeavors than I expected them to be. I forgot how hard she hits!

After that stuff, I did a Maya run through the Peak with ‘Replacement Killer’, my second Maya save, BeeHawking with Sub-Sequence. I love Digistruct Peak. Slag Bearcat at the end. May channel my inner Adabiviak and try to kill T-Rex with it.

Didn’t really have the energy to play much tonight, so I just messed around trying out the Godfinger for a while.

Fighting Doc Mercy from on top of the pig worked quite well. Might have had a chance at a one-shot kill if I’d phaselocked to get him slagged to start the fight (I tend to forget that phaselock still works at any range as long as the target is visible). Then I spent a long time trying to snipe Boll. There’s a spot on that long sloping rock formation on the opposite side of the crevasse from the Frostburn Canyon entrance that ought to allow it. It gives a clear view of Boll’s hut and most of his clearing. Unfortunately Boll seems to spawn when the player comes near the clearing, then despawns when the character moves away, so that plan didn’t work.

Then Maya did Claptrap’s Iceman quest. Shooting bandits from the walkway on top of the gate worked well - got one triple kill with one shot plus Chain Reaction. Apparently bullet-splitting guns don’t count for the Evisceration BAR challenge, since I one-shotted several shielded enemies but none of them counted. Oh well.

Anyway - neat gun, very cool when one can set up a situation where it starts to work (and that doesn’t require nearly as much distance as I’d thought, at least to start seeing the special abilities). On the other hand it would be way less time consuming to just go in and kill everything with the usual Lyuda/Good Touch/any other decent rifle, SMG, or pistols that might apply. Since it dropped two levels below her and she’s on the brink of 65, it’ll be going into the bank soon…
I like playing on OP levels but I don’t like the peak, like most seem to do.
You only have to do it once for each level increase. It’s not my favorite place either, and once I got a character through, only went back for co op to help someone else through it.
Perhaps it’s the forced repetiotion of it
You can certainly wait as long as you want between runs, and the peak does change noticeably as you run through it, if not due to the different enemy spawns, then due to the extra map sections that are added the higher you go in level.

I lurk at OP3 and sell/trade off a lot of very nice gear if only because few people are interested in gear at this level. I have an OP3 94% Sham if you want it, for example, and if there’s something in particular you’d like at this level, I can keep my eye out for it or dashboard a little if it’s a mission reward.

Glad it’s not just me! Virtually everywhere else in BL2, the music is great. But they missed the mark at the Peak, and it isn’t even close.

Still haven’t settled on an alternative for the Peak yet, though.

best title ever

Ill take that <3

Farmed Ancient Dragons for Eridium with Papa Bear for my new Gaige.

They were nice enough to drop a Hammer Buster, a Legendary Berserker Mod, and an Infinity in addition to their standard seraphs

Oh, gee, thanks. If you happen to have decent extra corrosive Pimpernel or a low delay Antagonist I sure wouldn’t mind relieving you of them or loaning them from you for a while. Those should help my Zer0 and Maya and they are kinda boring to farm for. I also still haven’t found a single Leg. Sniper COM. Other than those I’d imagine the stuff I’m going to use should be relatively easy to come by on my own as I progress.

I’m in the train a lot, so I’ll keep an eye out for one of those and tuck it away if it comes up.

Maya 2.0 had a pretty epic night, actually. I’ll get to the truly EPIC part shortly…

Left off last night at the Unassuming Docks. Picked that up today, and ran through to Hatred’s Shadow. Had to get that Grog Nozzle, son! Fresh Grog in hand, I went back to Washburne Refinery and harassed Hyperius a good bit. Here’s something I hate about that. You have to take the mission first from Shade in Oasis, and he’s nowhere near a fast-travel station. Once you beat Hyperius that first time, for the mission, you can’t fight him again until you’ve turned-in the mission. So it’s back out of Washburne Refinery (he’s like DEAD IN THE MIDDLE of it, B T Dubbs), over to Oasis, halfway across Oasis to Shade, then back to the FT, then back through half of Washburne Refinery to get back to Hyperius’s gate. Also, if you (well, if I; can’t say if this is the common experience or if I’m experiencing some bug) happen to die out on a solo run at Hyperius, you can’t go back in without quitting/continuing. Or need I merely exercise some patience? Anyhow, went back and beat on him some more. All Tattlers and Retchers, and a couple orange drops: Pyrophobia and Sledge’s Shotgun. Sold both.

Oh yeah, had ANOTHER NE Conference Call show up in a red chest in Washburne. That, in addition to an Apt Hellfire that dropped in Unassuming Docks. I’ve held on to both, and handed off the OP2 Conference Call I had to Axton, along with handing back down some other gear I no longer needed/wanted for Maya 2.0.

So then, it was on to the Torgue DLC. Ran that all the way through. No problems, but no orange either. Also no Slow Hand at the end. And the lootsplosion was unremarkable, as usual.

So what’s this EPICness? Well, in that very first engagement after arriving in the Beatdown, one of the enemies (I think it was a Burner Bone Crusher) dropped a freakin’ COBRA! Regardless of non-ideal parts and junk prefix, I was so psyched to finally have one after what’s closing-in on 1500 hours of play! I’m not even mad that it dropped at OP3, rather than wait for me to hit OP8 with this toon (or my other Maya, already OP8). No problem!

After all that talk about whether or not Burners can drop them in Pyro Pete’s Bar, Cobra drops for me out on the street. I don’t even care that it’s really just not all that good (unremarkable stats for its rarity and level and parts, IMO; I had a purple OP2 Muckamuck that was throwing out time-and-a-half the damage). The magazine size, depending on the build, can still go into double-digits. Crits against unshielded and slagged enemies are deadly. Accuracy is fine, and with a good Trickster COM its fire rate is at least tolerable (nevermind when Wreck is up). I don’t have a verdict in on this thing just yet, but I was just SO psyched to finally check that off the list of drops I’ve never seen yet in BL2 (all that’s left now are Godfinger and Bekah, I think, and Teeth of Terramorphous as a gee-whatever footnote).

So that’s it. I’m on the fence about whether to finish up TTAoDK first, or just go ahead and step up to OP4. Either way, I’ll probably reset UVHM only after moving up to OP4, and so will likely run through the main story all the way to Sanctuary at least. Got one last Bank SDU to buy, and about 350-ish Eridium burning a hole in my figurative pocket.

MOST LIKELY TOMORROW: Farming Pete a little, running the Peak, getting to Sanctuary, and resetting UVHM. Maybe not in that order.

Got a Hide of Terramorphous on my first Terra kill today, and a shock Norfleet (my second ever Norfleet, first was slag) off my first Hyperius kill of the day! Freakish luck, which was overdue considering how stingy the game has been to me lately. Recorded Hyperius and Terramorphous kills as Sal, a fun Southpaw run as Maya, and an incredibly fun Maya to Mad Mike run. Sadly, Game DVR bugged out on me and only wanted to export 4:55 of the 8 minutes, so I scrapped that post. Stupid fun, though. The highlight was a Quasar toss from next to the whirlpool, up to the bridge that yanked a baddie, who I PLed in mid air and killed with a Baby Maker toss. That was probably the coolest chuck kill I’ve ever done. I’m not a Tediore expert, by any means, but I occasionally pull out something nutty.

That truly is amazing luck.

I remember farming for a grounded hide, killing Terra 200 times and having only one hide drop (and it was trash).

This was the one and only time I turned to gibbed.
