What did you do in BL2 during your most recent session?

Thanks, that was an excellent idea! The xp didn’t quite work out - about 2500 xp short out of 8.4 million after defeating the Happy Couple and turning the quest in to Moxxi. But the Young Threshers in the water were plenty to fix that shortfall. Maya has reached level 69!

That’s a pretty fun mini-DLC, I should do it more often. I hadn’t noticed the res mechanic in the Happy Couple fight the previous time I did the DLC, though it makes perfect sense for this to be one of those “kill both within X seconds of each other” boss fights.

Another session. Got a couple of levels, completed Opportunity and went to Fink’s while sounding like Jack. It’s fun flying around the map after the Buzzards. Makes me wish I had MMF already. Not long now.
Damn I love that map.
How do you run that map? I’ll fight my way to the room with the weapon vending machine, open the back door, and use that as a base for loot runs across most of the rest of the map, making return trips to sell off whatever dropped.

On topic: I think the Bearcat is particularly effective against Buzzards, but would like some peer review from anyone who’s down to try and has a Bearcat on deck (regardless of character and/or weapon element - they all have builds available that should be able to make this work, although I’m not sure about an Anarchy-based Mechromancer). Anyway, Axton took his corrosive one to the roof of the Buzzard Academy in Tundra Express and crushed it. He even ran down, spun the wheel o’ reinforcements, and took those Buzzards out. A couple of Badass ones at the end were too much for the Bearcat (not that it couldn’t have killed them, but I’ll need some more practice to survive King of the Hill with it against a pair of badasses).

In the shot below, note where the damage numbers are centered. You can see two grenades to the left of the Buzzard (and one to the bottom right) that whiffed, but the other four hit here (a fifth from the center not visible yet will be the killing blow, but you get the point). If you fire the salvo at closer range, or have some accuracy/velocity buff on deck to keep the salvo tight at further range, it’s relatively easy to get them all to hit. Anyone else down to give this a spin? I’m starting to back down my maximized build around this weapon (no corrosive Bone, turning off BAR, switching to a more generic COM, etc.) to see at what point this weapon struggles with this, but that’ll take some time.

Depends how much of it I’ve unlocked mission-wise, but usually:

 • First area with Varkids and Crystalisks (Oozing Discharge?)
 • Across the islands to nip Blue
 • Back to The Rumbling Shore
 • Grenade jump up to Varkid Ramparts if I’m doing a short trip
 • Through the Warehouse and the next Thresher section, down to the Vault Symbol and the Creeper area
 • Follow the minecart track to the conveyor belt and then into Deep Core
 • Out to Nether Hive, then up the elevator to the Ramparts.

It takes a long time to do the whole map and all the chests, but I relish the enemy variation as well as the scenery.
Grenade jump up to Varkid Ramparts if I’m doing a short trip
Where are you making this jump?

On the ledge under the pipe that juts out over The Rumbling Shore.

You climb the ladder and walk along up to the rock at the base of the tree, then do the jump here:

After that you can hop up the tree and the ledges.

Oh wow - I’ve never taken that route.

It’s quite handy when you need to pick up stuff dropped by the evolving varkids there before you have the mission.

Go melee Zer0 to Data mining and cleared off some sidequests. Hellqvist dropped me a Bee. I was going to melee the Warrior but I guess I’ll use this, then. I had to back out of Buzzard Nest in Sawtooth. I ran away from all the other Buzzards but I didn’t even consider that I need to actually fight some on top of that for the quest. None of my weapons were up to the task and I can’t really execute them reliably and there so many. Damn I hate these things and now I have another reason to hate them. Picked up a white corrosive corinthian to finish the job.

@hattieinduni, @Adabiviak: I certainly hope the two of you join the BL3 beta testing (whenever that day arrives). Not only that, I hope you get asked to help with the inevitable guide book- I’ve no doubt your contributions would be greatly entertaining and informative…

No news. Haven’t turned on the rig since last update. Trying to switch from staying up AFTER work (I work 14:00-22:30 weeknights) to getting up earlier BEFORE work, and doing any gaming THEN instead. Bit of a transition. It’s a new year.

<3

EDIT: Yeah, due to transition woes and general laziness, might just be grinding Battleborn until Saturday afternoon, and on weekdays a lot, and doing BL2/TPS stuff on weekends/holidays. I left that sleep deprivation junk behind when I retired from Uncle Sugar Ain’t Released Me Yet.

I’m flattered, @Carlton_Slayer; I’d be psyched to contribute to something like that.

Dahl Commando rolled Sawtooth Cauldron and picked up The Chosen One mission:

 • I managed to level up a Goliath Midget all the way to a Giant Midget of Death (kiting him into the shallow edge of a mob for a kill, kiting him back for some healing, repeating, taking out heavy enemies so he wouldn’t get killed, staying alive myself… took a while).

 • Then I found a Tubby Midget, so of course I had to let these two go at it. The Giant Midget of Death totally wasted him (got a Legendary Hoarder COM).

 • Next I found a Legendary Loot Midget Marauder, so I let those two slug it out. That was going to be a draw, so I finshed it off after several minutes. It was funny watching ammo and money flying out of the LLMM whenever the Goliath smacked him though. In the picture below, the Goliath will slam the LLMM into the explosive barrel you see on the right edge of the picture, which I will of course shoot, which will knock him back at the Goliath, who will slam him again off the side of the roof. So funny when the LLMM mutters, “This is god damn impossible.” :laughing:image

 • This guy was pretty good at not getting stuck in the terrain, so I kited him to the Scalding Remnants and let him have a go at the Threshers there. A Landscape and two Clutch Threshers tore him up really bad.image

 • I took the roof of the Buzzard Nest with the Bearcat on deck for the Buzzards. In this shot, seven of the nine rounds of this salvo are on target (and I think the other two missed because it died before they made contact; you can see them on the bottom right of the buzzard). I had fun with this gun before, but I’m totally loving it in this role now.image

 • A Slagged and Flaming Lunatic came out together at one point… fairly sketchy with Dahl gear and a turret on cooldown. I don’t think I’ve ever had to duke it out with that particular combination of enemies before… wonderfully intense (if I get slagged and his buddy hits me with one or two of those axes, I’m a goner).

 • I’m really liking this Geminuke build… there’s an entertaining art to throwing double Nukes into a mob so you corral them instead of scattering them. It is still weird to be on slag duty for the turrets.

 • A little touch I’ve seen out of the corner of my eye, but never really focused on before… these little moths that fly around.image

Oh my god… this is another “amazing ad” moments! :hushed:

Picked up the FotF for Ultimate Krieg!! and then knocked out the Rubi and Trespasser quest from Mordecai. Hit level 66 and took a trip to the loot train, where I got another L. Psycho and a The Transformer shield (should come in handy in Opportunity). Checking my mules’ inventories I have a few Bones that might top what he currently has and a level 66 Extra Large Blockhead. Should come in handy for the trip to Caustic Caverns…

Gaige did the Bright Lights, Flying City run tonight, which went very smoothly. As you’d expect from a character inheriting nice stuff from four predecessors. She one-shotted the Gluttonous Thresher (Flakker + 146 anarchy stacks = win), and the beacon fight in Overlook was very relaxed for once, aside from running out of shotgun ammo near the end. Swapping between a Hulk and a Flakker will do that… :stuck_out_tongue: She even took out a random Badass Fire Thresher that popped up just downhill from where one enters the map (is that an alternate spawn point for the one that sometimes murders you when you pick up Tannis’s ECHO in the lake?).

The one failure was trying to do the communication tower challenge - no way to hit the one across the bay with full anarchy stacks. I’ll have to remember to do that first thing the next time I play her.

For some reason Deathtrap killing threshers with the electrical beam attack counts as killing them with barrels for purposes of BAR challenges. Even by Borderlands-logic, that’s bizarre!

It’s a relief to be at 17 and have Discord to protect against manual reloads. I haven’t done any yet, but it is a concern. I can’t wait to get her to Shock and AAAGGGGHHH!; she’s similar enough to Claptrap that I’m disappointed that she doesn’t yet explode when she reloads.

Melee Zer0 went to get a slag Pimpernel, because why not, and mopped up the rest of the pirate campaign main quests while there. I killed Jack so main campaign is also done on NVHM. Finally picked up a new maylay shield from Zed’s after all was done. I’ve been using order for a long time. I should have one or two lvl 35 Chain lightnings around somewhere so I don’t need to go to Tina’s for that.

Since I’m in the Zer0 mood (or well, I always am) I guess I should start working my sniper Zer0 through the peak again. It’s been a while since I played my main.

Nice to not be busy for a while. Managed another set today and mopped up most of the NVHM sidequests. Picked up a nice enough purple Quad so I’m mostly having fun with that right now.

I had a new thing happen to me today: In Hyperion slaugher a BUL Loader went into his bumper car mode but he was facing to my side, not directly at me. So what happened is he ended up going circles around me. I circle strafed a bit with him but I’m fairly sure he would’ve done it even if I stayed still. He was the last enemy and he just kept going. I shot him after a few rounds. Not sure but I think he would’ve gone on forever if I hadn’t.

Finished off Perfectly Peaceful and all the side missions in Opportunity (as well as the main story mission) and reached level 67. Will most likely do Safe and Sound when I pick up The Lost Treasure mission but for now- onward to face the BNK3R!

Tonight was Krieg time. I decided to go ahead and make a run at Motor Momma, and he actually defeated her! Granted, he “killed” her bike by second-winding via Rapier-stabs, then killed her with another Rapier-stab second wind, but it worked. My first ever on-level Motor Momma kill, yay!

Then he ran through the Forge, doing the side quests there as well. The troll was remarkably difficult. Fast shield, ridiculous health, and a hyper-accurate very long range gun that health-gated Krieg with a single shot. The blimp fight was merely tedious, especially once the buzzards came out. Ugh, buzzards with Krieg, not my favorite combo… :unamused:

End result, gained two levels, hitting 35. Now I have a ton of nice stuff to dig through and see if Krieg needs it. The Kerblaster was in his own bank, but I know there are lots of other guns and magic grenades scattered through my other characters banks too. And of course the level 33 Casual SWORDSPLOSION!!! should have another level or two of use in it - he’s loving that gun!
