What did you do in BL2 during your most recent session?

Unlocking Op8 with Gaige is proving more difficult than I thought: a lot of failed attempts; first was at Dukino’s mom, then by Doc Mercy’s, then some random fail I don’t remember; another fail at Dukino’s mom’s, because I’m good like that, followed by a mega fail against the assassins.

After that I thinkered with my build a bit, farmed for an Order and went with a Legendary Roboteer: this way Deathtrap does a lot more aggro (nice, I like that); it’s a pain having to switch shields at every summon, but it works better. I finally reached Saturn and, guess what, mega noob fail!
Tried again just to be kicked in the teeth by Doc Mercy, again.

I couldn’t stand another run thus I went back to Zer0 G[uns] to keep leveling him: I’m so eager to get to 72 but it takes so long… come on man, level up.

Going through the DLC campaign main quests on NVHM now as melee Zer0. I just found something curious. What in heaven’s name is a “sneety” prefix on a Vladof sniper? I don’t think I’ve seen this before.

when a weapon spawns with no accessory and no element the prefix is based on grip, in this case Hyperion.
The second link in this post is a downloadable document with all the info.

Cool, I didn’t know that.

I guess I’ve encountered these things before then and have just assumed I didn’t remember all the prefixes.

Nice - I’ve never seen Sneety before myself. Sometimes I think these non-accessory, non-elemental guns have a level of rarity unto themselves.

Took a quick trip to the loot train and came away with a Fabled Tortoise. Finished of Where Angels Fear To Tread and snagged a Black Hole from a red chest in Marcus’s storeroom. Reached level 68 and will now knock out a few more side quests before heading to Eridium Blights…

Until a system crash :expressionless: I was taking a few runs at Pyro Pete, Mister Tinder Snowflake, and the Handsome Sorcerer all back to back in a grind to generate more seraph crystals and eridium. (Hoped for a legendary somewhere along the way as well) But alas, it seems I’ve come up dry.

I also took a run at Hyperius in OP8, but I got sent home with my tail between my legs in no time flat. Gonna have to do my homework for that fight.

NVHM Melee Zer0 cleared the Mines of avarice and killed Pyro Pete. I derped out a bit and BeeHawked him since I had those and that’s just a good general strat for him. I WAS supposed to try out the damage of a Rapier backstab on him since I have a good maylay shield again and a good shield stripper grenade for it but oh well.

On the next episode of Bunkers & badasses Zer0 is going to Execute the Handsome dragon.

I’ve been away from the game a lot since before Christmas for a rather stunning number of reasons - just one thing after another. So instead I’ve been poking around unexplored areas of the wiki in my bored time and came across the awesome contributions of Raison Varner ( because Raison d’Etre was taken )

So today’s entry is in honour of him as composer and psycho. Here’s his Soundcloud page

So, my “working Saturday”… read a few pages of a textbook (with underlining) and spent much of the rest reading irrelevant news and playing Borderlands  Still working on my Axton - got him to level 71. He’s not my favourite but he can do a lot, and it’s always refreshing to play old haunts with a new(ish) character. I’m really looking forward to testing out endgame stuff with him. Got a fairly basic loadout going right now - Unkempt Harold, a Slagga, a nice Bonus Package - which is helpful for leveling quickly, but it will be great to begin experimenting when I’m done with Digi.

Also greatly honoured to be invited into a session with Pandora’s finest Vault Hunter @Adabiviak. I haven’t done any co-op in a long time so that was very enjoyable.

King of the Hill down there is hard… that’s the first time I’ve tried it co op, which is arguably harder. Even solo, I think I “win” (defeat everything without leaving the platform) maybe one out of five times when there’s an Ultimate Badass Pyre Thresher and/or more than one Rift Thresher around. I was all excited because I tanked his entrance nova (when he popped up next to the platform) with the Phalanx shield, but then he whipped me off the platform with his tentacles anyway

King of the Hill in Fink’s Slaughterhouse wasn’t too bad, but when that Gravedigger (and later that Ultimate Badass Psycho) got up there with us on the platform, omg. (Can you pick up the shield boosters I drop? I picked up a corrosive DoT from that guy, and boosters started flying off of me.)

Does Nuke, especially when it’s fired near you, obscure your screen for a surprisingly long time? It’s the curse of this (Gemini and Nuke) build for that sort of combat: the Phalanx shield, if it’s between you and a Rift Thresher, will prevent their singularity from grabbing you, and will stop Ultimate Bass Pyre Threshers’ novas from hitting you (which are deal breakers for successfully defending that platform if they show up), but it needs to be thrown at close range for this.

This is the most taxing thing for me with Axton : Nuke & Scorched Earth make such a mess for a remarkable amount of time. I loves me my Nuke though - I refuse to spec out of it. I use it exactly the way you’re referring to : toss it right in front for knockback - that with singularity grenades = control = awesome

The knockback got some pesky enemies off the platform in Fink’s Slaughterhouse, that’s for sure. It’s not bad when I play solo, because I know where they’re going to be and can work around them, but as a co op partner, I’m not sure if random Nukes would be a drag.

I find this tougher to solo. We got some great second winds!

Nice! It’s just occurred to me that a Hoplite or Fabled Tortoise might be a great choice for playing king of the hill. I’ve been longing for a way to use those.

I’m not sure actually. I remember trying to but it was crazy intense so I may have not got in the right position (or indeed might have picked it up without registering it).

Yes, but I absolutely love it. Same with Flame of the Firehawk novas too… I can see why it’s a nuisance for some but it often adds to the intensity for me. That Slaughter round was suitably crazy: midgets flying everywhere, tossing rubberised Vladof grenades… a giant explosion in the midst of it all just topped things off.

Got a friend that I used to play on PS3 with to get BL2 on Steam. Since we didn’t want to start all over I just copied my OP2 Siren save to him (I’m allowed to say that, right?). Took my OP2 Zer0 myself and respecced to melee since that’s what I’m feeling right now.

We did Data mining and some random mobbing in Lynchwood and Opportunity. My friend is rusty as **** and I’m not very competent when it comes to melee Zer0 - slowly getting there, though - but we didn’t have too much trouble. Saturn did manage to down him and got us both because I tried to revive him and I had both a BA Constructor and a BA Loader knock me off the map in Opportunity when they used their melees with my back to map edge. At the same time it was hilarious and made me feel soulcrushingly stupid for not thinking ahead for the possibility.

Fun session all around. Sniper has always been my main game but melee build is so quirky and fun that I can’t even tell anymore which I actually prefer. I guess I’ll see when I get good at melee. Part of the enjoyment might afterall be that I’m very rarely playing a melee build so it’s different from “the usual”.

It doesn’t really bother me either. There’s often so much other “visual noise” going on (especially if I’m playing up close and personal with Krieg or Sal) that it’s not a dealbreaker for me.

Not much on the legendary front for me, other than gifts from a friend and BA player. Paid that generosity forward by helping a couple people reach their next op level, gave away some of my extra gear, and rampaged across Pandora.

One event of note; I was in WEP going for those LLMs and one popped out of a stalker sack hanging down from a mushroom/tree. I did not know they could be found in those…

Krieg finished off the Torgue DLC in TVHM. BA Rex was a cakewalk, even doing it the real way by actually fighting in the arena (I’ll cheese it by the door if I have to, but in this case that was totally unnecessary). I don’t really understand why SWORDSPLOSION!!! swords reflect, but Kerblaster shots don’t. Borderlands-logic is funky as we all know. The Kerblaster worked quite well, as did thrown axes when the missile launches forced Krieg into RtB (chained a couple times when the launch cadence was unusually fast). Because I was a Dumbassaurus Rex I completely forgot to use that lovely Homing Bonus Package I’d just taken the trouble to transfer into Krieg’s inventory. :dukefp: Would have made the fight somewhat faster, but since the outcome wasn’t in doubt after the first missile-RtB sequence demonstrated that what I was doing worked, no harm done. Onwards to work on the main BL2 story now.

Maya ran the Halloween mini-DLC, because why not. Over 1/3 of the way through level 69 now. The skrakks were the hardest part, though Clark did offer some challenge just because there were a ton of respawns in the area too. On the other hand Clark was very generous - Pyrophobia, purple Snider, blue Maliwan SMG (does he only drop Maliwan gear? :stuck_out_tongue: ). All level 70, but I’ll take it. Pumpkin King dropped an up to date blue absorb shield but otherwise nothing interesting.

I guess she’ll probably head to Scarlett’s DLC now, mostly for lack of much else worth doing before 72. Hopefully she can get to 72 before the quest that gives the Sand Hawk, or else bar brawl farming will have to make up the difference.

Created another mule to move alt Maya’s gear over- the mule left the Ancients Dragons with a L. Siren com (which is handy as the new mule is a Maya too). Ultimate Krieg!! is roughly halfway to level 68, where he has some neat gear waiting for him, including my favorite buzzard killer, a corrosive Deep Veruc…

Until recently I wasn’t sure if they could pop out of washing machines, but one sure enough did a couple weeks ago for me.
