Finally decided it’s time to get the last SDU’s for my Zer0 so I dropped him to NVHM and maxed out Eridium on the dragons. Not the most exciting thing to do but it’s done now. While I was there I cleared out magic of childhood to complete the quest log as that seemed to be the only thing left on my NVHM quest list.
BA Constructor and a BA Loader knock me off the map in Opportunity when they used their melees with my back to map edge.
At least it sounds like you were in some heated combat… I’ve had that happen when I was poking around at a lone LWT Loader.
So I fired up BL2 for the first time since July yesterday (I’d been spending a lot of time on Elpis and on the browner side of Pandora) and reset my OP8 Maya. She’s pretty set on gear (running a Blockhead, Slagga, corrosive Lyudmila, and DPUH for second winds) but it still felt like I had never left. Took her from Cleaning Up the Berg to Bloodshot Ramparts. Felt good to be back. Once I’ve reaccustommed to BL2’s UVHM, I’ll probably see if I can’t get the rest of the cast up to OP8 (Axton is already there, Sal is OP5, and I believe the rest are at OP1). Should be fun!
…my favorite Rat trap: drop some loot in there, stir them up, and corner them in this room when they go after it. I especially like MIRV grenades, because the target eats all the child grenades, but Nuke’s fun too.
I’m in the same boat!
Lv71 Axton, not my main but enjoying what he has to offer.
Been lucky with CoMs so I ave plenty of options, mainly switching between leg soldier and expert grenadier with fastballs.
I’m running pretty basic stuff with him for as long as I can too. Leaning on the Harold/grog a bit with some nice launchers on rotation and tediore weapons of choice in the last slot.
YAY! Despite some personal IRL setback, RAbbi is back on the horse!
Took Little Sis out for a spin. She’s got a small debt hanging around from her OP8 inheritance, after all. So first, she finished up the ‘Where Angels Fear to Tread’ mission (parts 1&2). Turned that in, completed ‘Bearer of Bad News’. Then, off to the Eridium Blight. Held up mission progress to swing by the Ore Chasm to complete the Hyperion Slaughter, and succeeded. Twice, in fact!
See, like a big dummy, I kinda goofed up. Had a setback in Round 4, so I stepped out to do the side quests for Mal and earn a Fibber with Round 4 not completed. Did it all, screwed up and got the WRONG FIBBER! Went back in (after getting the RIGHT Fibber with Big Sis) and completed rounds 4 & 5. Got a SLAG Cher Amie presented by InnuendoBot, so I did the whole Alt+F4 thing. Load back in, and I’m back at Round 4 FAILED. OMG WTF FML! So, did rounds 4 and 5 AGAIN. This time, stepped outside again and back in BEFORE turning in the mission. That worked. Got a fire Banbury Cher Amie. Close enough.
Off then to the Fridge, and Fink’s too-easy Bandit Slaughter. Corrosive Hail acquired! Went back to Sanctuary and handed those two items off via the Claptrap stash…
Now, in between there Big Sis had gone and done the side quests to get the right Fibber. Good deal. Alone the way, she found a longbow Storm Front in a Bandit red chest. SWEET! And she did the side quests in Sanctuary for Law and Order. Handed those four items off via the stash, in exchange for the Cher Amie and Hail. Good to go.
Sent Big Sis to Sawtooth Cauldron to test out the new fire Cher Amie. Now that worked a LOT better against those bandits, than did the slag or shock ones she already has. Mind you, it’s just the few that are spawned in at the start; once she’s down in the bowl, there’s not a whole lot of opportunity to use a sniper rifle, and the Kitten and Heart Breaker get most of the work. Still, I think it’s going to be a BIG help.
Took a bit to go check in on some other toons. Got a level 39 Salvador in TVHM, so I did ‘The Good The Bad and The Mordecai’. No notable drops. But he DOES wreck stuff with Unkempt Harold and Conference Call. Not bad. Also checked in on a level 45 (?) Zer0, and I’m SO not feeling it. Maybe that just takes more getting used to, and one day I hope to get used to him well enough to make the slog through at least level 72. He was stuck on the WEP story quest, and kept going down against the UBA Loader just before the midget box room. Had gotten to Bloodwing previously, but not completed that fight. I’m just not 100% in love with what he’s saying right now (name that reference).
So, back to concentrating on the sisters. Might go ahead and finish the story quest with Little Sis, see what the final fight coughs up, etc. Eventually I want to reset with her again, because I just realized (most of the way through the Hyperion Slaughter) that she’s still toting a OP7 corrosive Kitten, and Kitten is SO useful. But I’d also like to get her teeth cut on some solo raids before running off to reset.
Big Sis is getting a reset soon. MIGHT consider giving the Hyperion Slaughter (only need Round 5) another spin before resetting, just to finish out the Cher Amie collection (only missing corrosive right now). Otherwise, it’s back to Windshear Waste with her for an end-to-end run of the whole game, WITH DLCs, in search of the best-synergizing combo of gear to go with all those Moxxxi weapons and grenade mods.
Axton is idling at OP3 or OP4, last I remember. Krieg and Gaige are in the 50s in UVHM; Krieg was having some issues with Frostburn Canyon, and I may have to reconsider the build. Right now, he’s Bloodlust-Mania with an emphasis on the former. Hellborn won’t work so well there, I fear, for all of the fire-resistant baddies in there.
So yeah. Focus on the sisters. Probably gonna focus specifically on Little Sis’s story missions tomorrow. (Off for MLK Day, then a 4-day week.)
The personal/IRL thing? We’re FINALLY getting a Popeye’s Chicken in town here! SO EXCITE! Was supposed to open on December 23d, but then that got pushed back due to some red tape with the city (that’s what we’ve heard). New date was TODAY, January 15th. Found out TODAY, that it’s been delayed AGAIN until the 20th for some reason. I want my damned red beans & rice! NOW! This honestly made me sad. Friday, however, will be freakin’ TRIUMPHANT (assuming it doesn’t get delayed YET AGAIN)…
Productive day for my OP8 GemSlag Axton. I decided to clear the Hyperion Slaughter. It’s much tougher than Fink’s or Creature, but I generally also find it better designed (unlike the Magic Slaughter…more on that later).
Also did a peak run since I hadn’t done one in a while. Decided to go all explosive (Harold, Swordsplosion, Flakker), and the run went really well, despite getting the quad spawn for the Assasins and lone Dukino. The Swordsplosion seems excellent against OMGWTH.
Meanwhile, my OP8 Reaper Krieg cleared Fink’s. Not a difficult slaughterdome, except for one bit where my Raving Retribution fireballs decided to light up the buzzards and hence rendered many of the airborn outlaws unable to be DoT (kinda like loot midgets) - a deadly prospect for a Hellborn K. Did a run in the Fridge after that and acquired a Splasher Blashter, which I used to clear out Lynchwood after.
After that, I decided to try my luck at the Magic Slaughter. Went in mostly explosive (with a Hornet for certain situations) so I didn’t have to worry about the myriad of enemy types. First 2 rounds were cake…then came the 3rd one with nothing but skeletons. I gained a new hatred for skeleton mages that day. I find the Carnage excellent against them though, as well as against those Crystal Skeletons, especially with Bloodbath’s raw stopping power. The subsequent rounds were actually way easier. Haven’t really tried the Badass Round yet since clearing 5 rounds of a not-so-fun slaughterdome is fairly draining.
Meanwhile my level 66 (now 68!) Torch Krieg did a few fruitless Tubby runs in the Arid Badlands. Tried to farm a Rough Rider to update my outdated Adaptive, but little luck there too. Following that, I started the Torgue DLC to unlock Pyro Pete. Found a decent Casual Ravager in the first Torgue machine, and I had some leftover tokens from TVHM, so I nabbed that. As it happens, that’s the strongest thing I have right now, so I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with Badassasarus. Ah well, will probably figure something out when I get there…
Got to see Son of Mothrakk “up close and personal”:
@Become_Apro phase locked him and he fell behind the arena. He was clipped and could not fly away!
Well, I had a nice productive day - until the last five minutes or so.
Sal did Opportunity and reached level 23. Face-tanking constructors amuses me greatly (Hulk & Rubi) though I’m sure that’s a tactic that only works here in NVHM. He did discover another way to bug the camera challenge - if a camera is destroyed by a DoT, it doesn’t count. Looks like I’ll do some side quests with him next since I’d normally expect to be 24 or very close to it before starting up the mountain to see Angel; not sure why Sal is a bit behind, I’m pretty sure he’s done the same set of quests I normally do in NVHM.
Since I was moving gear around between characters anyway, Zero (level 11) did a few early side quests while he was active. The Fastball is a nice way to get the challenge for Boll, fittingly enough. Ready for Dam Fine Rescue now as soon as Gaige passes the usual gear down to him.
Then Krieg got himself to Sanctuary in TVHM, reaching level 36. Since I’ve been doing a ton of shotgunning lately with him, Sal, Gaige, and Claptrap, today was more of a Rapier day. Should have swapped relic accordingly, but I didn’t really plan it to work out like that (and it didn’t matter, of course).
And finally Maya time - did a Zaford/Hodunk quest plus a Dust run (no meaningful loot), then started the Scarlett DLC. I’d forgotten how many side quests there are in Oasis, so she got to 70 easily. I figured I’d drive to Scarlett’s ship and log out there, but I am unable to do so. Gearbox did a spectacularly terrible job balancing the worms in that DLC. In NVHM (the only other time I’ve done the DLC) the worms are a joke, touch them with a skiff and they die. Now it’s reversed, they touch a skiff, you die. Well, dismounted, below health gate, 4-6 worms around you, they can’t be phaselocked for Elated/Sweet Release. Normally that’s still sort of manageable, but add in enemy skiffs and none of my attempts to gain access to Scarlett’s ship were even remotely close to being successful. I’d be annoyed at the loss of $20 million (and counting) if money meant anything in this game, but fortunately it doesn’t after completing the For The Hoard challenge… If I had a skiff I’m confident I could beat those two enemy skiffs, but thanks to the worms that’s a fight between 2 skiffs & several worms vs. wounded pedestrian Maya. Should one completely ignore Catch-a-Rides in the DLC and just run everywhere on foot, so at least when the worms come up you start at full health, and maybe have a wall at your back so the worms don’t surround you?
I was also quite surprised at what good shots the pirates are. I had thought they were just bandits with a different skin, but they were doing serious damage despite being at long range with both of us behind cover. That could make some of the later maps … interesting.
Continued pushing through with Maya yesterday. Took her from Bloodshot Ramparts all the way to the Preserve. Only notable drop was an OP6 Rigorous Kerblaster that a Rabid Skag dropped me. I already have an OP8 one so I sold it.
At this point, I returned to Elpis to start working on my Digi-Death Jack. So I’ll probably be flip-flopping back and forth between the games a bit more.
I’ve never had a single worm do that to me in UVHM. Two or three, maybe (especially if I don’t pay attention to the Skiff’s health). What kind of shield are you using?
I usually run clean through from one end to the other before turning round and heading back again, rather than trying to mix it up with everybody. The pirate skiffs keep circling inside the canyon/cave, so you can pop out the end, U-turn, and come in guns blazing. Which of the skiffs are you choosing? There’s one that I can’t seem to hit anything with…
Reached level 70 and Arid Nexus Badlands with Ultimate Krieg!! while completing most side quests except A Real Boy with Mal (also did a run on the loot train after reaching 70 but nothing special). Took a level 69 L. Sickle off a mule so sold a couple of the blue Sickle coms I had. Picked up a few things orange things along the way along with a pearl. Took a break by playing a tower defense game with a friend, going from level 5 to level 12 with my character. After I tone him up a bit I’ll finish off Data Mining and see if I can Save The Turrets…
Carrying on with my melee Zer0 experiments. I tried to farm tubbies a bit in hopes of finally getting a damn leg. sniper but the game hates me when it comes to that.
Tried taking melee build to the peak in hopes of getting to OP3. All went well until the assassins where I fumbled and didn’t slag Rouf before attempting execute and after that I didn’t have the brains to run away and tried facetanking him with grog shots, slashes and chainlightning until I’d get deception back but I got dropped to FFYL. Rouf trolled me hard and walked away very slowly so I almost managed to take him down until he got out of reach for the last couple of slashes and I died.
I’m still getting a bit confused by all the weaponswitching and maneuvering going on for executes but I guess I’m not totally butchering it since I got that far. Another day, another try I guess. I don’t want to go back there right now.
EDIT: Zer0 OP3. Respecced to sniper for the familiar feeling and made it through. Thanks to @Adabiviak 's generosity earlier I should be good to go for OP4 right away.
EDIT2: Graaaaaaaaahh. Got a Tubby dropping a Zer0 class mod but it was a Leg. Killer. Why, god, why. I’ve been trying to get a leg. sniper for over 2 or 3 months now. Seriously…
Well I’ve been playing the PS vita version lately just because it frees up the TV for movies.
Today I am working through to get blood wing playing as Gaige. I’ve had tremendous luck picking up legendarys on the Vita lately and it actually seems Vita specific cause I am not getting much when I have been playing the ps4. Probably just luck but it sure feels like the drop rate has been higher.
Made good progress with Axton.
Started the day at 71, then after a couple of Frosty and WEP runs (got a banbury storm), decided to take on Creature Slaughter to level to 72 and grab a Creamer for the Peak.
Breezed through that (I didn’t remember it being so easy), grabbed a torgue grip Creamer (no prefix but couldn’t be bothered dashboarding) then had a few gems of gear waiting in the bank for me.
Picked up my dormant torgue grip lv72 DPUH and Ogre, then went and farmed for a baby maker and some new fastballs. Baby maker took about 30 runs to drop and it came level 70 NE, oh well good enough, the fastballs came quicker (fire and corrosive on level), no explosive, but that’s koo.
Pretty geared up I ran Digi Peak to reach OP1. Pretty breezy but running out of fastballs with two assassins to go was some cause for angst, luckily the ogre shreds from range once their aggro is on the turret.
I had a level 50 gun-based Zer0 waiting for me, so I fired that up (my OP1 assassin is melee). Just starting UVHM. Pretty terrible gear. I cleared out Liar’s Berg using a combo of a NE Lady Fist, blue Bushwack, and green Jakobs sniper. Figured I’d need a way to slag so I started Tina’s DLC to get a Magic Missile. Struggled a lot with the skeletons so I did Gingerton to unlock the loot chest.
Am I the only one that has a hard time firing up an established character if I haven’t played for several months? For some reason I am compelled to start all over. I can’t honestly tell you why but for some reason it just feels wrong lol
I’ll to sniffing around Caustic Caverns and The Dust this evening and see if I can’t find one. It’ll be OP3, but the differences are generally slight between levels.
edit - found a Legendary Engineer, Binder, and Nurse, but no Sniper.
So, today…
Little Sis completed the main story quest. Rewarded with a Flakker. Got another one along the way, from a LLM in Sawtooth Cauldron I think. Also, she had an LLM elsewhere drop a pretty nice Ballanced Slagga (Dahl stock, Maliwan grip; free to a good home by the way). Little bit of LLM farming in Thousand Cuts, and a little bit of failed Tubby farming in the Dust.
Big Sis took a swipe at the loot train. Main point was to do it at TVHM, in search of a level 50 Banshee COM (Blue, with Fleet and Immolate). Why a level 50 COM for a OP8 siren? Simple. The lower-level one has a FAR smaller health penalty, still-significant stats, and the +6/+5 skill buffs. Gains over a quarter-million health versus the OP8 version!
But got tired of that, settled (for now) for a green Breakneck Banshee, and went back to Little Sis.
Little Sis is now part-way through the Scarlett DLC. “We’re off to see the hermit, the wonderful hermit of … uh … the Rustyards?” Yep. Three pieces of the compass down, one to go. MIGHT farm for a NE Stopping Sandhawk and a decent slag Barking Pimpernel, or might just blow on past. Not sure yet. Really just in it for a couple swipes at the treasure room and to open up Hyperius and Master Gee. I DO wanna give Hawkeye a fair shake at OP8, and I wanna pick up a solid OP8 Ahab. Also want to see a couple good examples of Evolution and Tattler at OP8; the former to replace a purple adaptive shield I’ve been limping along with, and the latter just to see if it’s worth a hoot to me compared to a Bone Shredder. So…
Next step is to finish the Scarlett DLC and work through the raids there.
Oh yeah, and one of the LLMs coughed up a slightly-improved corrosive BotA for Little Sis, and another coughed up (in addition to one of the legendary drops) another ancients relic to hand off to Big Sis (+health%, +SMG Ammo%). Not the GREATEST stats on either, but we’ll let Big Sis figure out what suits her best.
And I wound up tossing the fire Leech, as it just wasn’t doing much damage at all. That’s really what Little Sis needs her nades to do; healing is nice, but that can be worked via Grog Nozzle or Rubi, or even Kitten and a strong grenade like Storm Front or Fire Bee (at least when facing mobs).
<3
You guys/gals/whatevers are the best!
Zer0 and Maya swapped manufacturer allegiance back. Feels good.
edit - I forgot how wonderful the Logan’s Gun is in Maya’s hands, how good assault rifles are in Zer0’s. I forgot how awesome Maya is with singularity grenades, and how good Zer0 is with Jakobs sniper rifles. That was a fun little detour, and it made me appreciate some aspects of these allegiances, but it’s good to be home.
Seriously, the Logan’s gun is hitting way harder than I remember (and it was pretty lethal before).
