What did you do in your most recent session, PT2!

Yep, THAT was the look. You er, close to the Marshall?

I leave that mission alone just to hear him berate the Gutter quads while I’m in Sanctuary.

Seriously though… Zero Horizon Dawn. That game looks fan-freakin’-tastic, but a) not on PC, and b) third person is a drag. I mean, I watch gameplay footage on occasion, and (for example), this last guy I watched guy got a large rock outcrop stuck between his character and the camera during combat, and the enemy hit him pretty hard (like he disappears, the enemy strikes, and you see his body fly up behind the rock). Later, while she’s engaging one enemy, a much larger one runs between the camera and the action, obscuring the view. Even later, she’s shanking an enemy while it’s down, and another enemy sneaks up behind the camera until you see a chest plate come into view and get the drop on her.

Shame… could be such an epic game, too. :slightly_frowning_face:

I am practising surviving Voracidous attacks with Gaige using the Hail without anarchy stacks. And I just trapped Voracidous. I know Axton can trap him via the turrets, but what if your not Axton, Just trap him with your body instead, face him and keep moving forward (Don’t mind Deathtrap, it works without Deathtrap he is just there to buck my shield up).

Hit Pandora for a little bit to play Bloodbath games with Kriegtopher. Melted snowmen of various sizes, went loader hunting in Opportunity. It’s always nice to watch enemies melt into cascades of Bloodsplosion goodness. After that is fodder for other ā€œWhat did you doā€¦ā€ threads. See y’all around.

Seriously though, that’s some good footage of you getting knocked back in FFYL with Buck Up on deck.

Bandit Mechromancer in The Fridge cleaned up a bunch of map challenges. The Neogenator kept the DoT down, and Gaige’s shield skills were on deck, but that’s otherwise a pretty fragile shield… I was constantly running Discord to heal her up. Her shock Madhous, despite not having any shock-based enhancements in the Little Big Trouble tree, is brutal against Stalkers.

Shorty cruising by from a slap from Deathtrap

These four Rats ganged up on this Crystalisk and managed to kill it.

I just thought this was neat, with the color taken on by a Plague Rat attack, the pixels from the Neogenator shield changing element resistance, and the lightning from a shock MRUV.

Since I have started that RL project I mentioned I’ve done a bit of exploring on Pandora. Ultimate Krieg!! did some LLM farming in WEP and got mainly a bunch of BotA that with one exception were worse than what he already had (although he did get a Bearcat from one and an under leveled Baby Maker from another, and a n.e. Sledge’s Shotgun from the chest). Alex Du Charles finished normal and left the Warrior with an Impaler and now sits at Liar’s Berg in TVHM. Next up will be either a Krieg or Salvador mule…

Had a really fun co-op session with some forum members:

Then later that evening, practiced Fastball throws with @MassiveGat :

I absolutely love this game!

That was a LOT of BANGS!

Gotta love the Ogre.
I use Spitters a lot, the gun it’s based on, and I’m surprised to not hear more about it. It’s something I always like to see dropped.

Some time ago I created a new Maya on the anniversary of BL2’s release date (she’s named Anni because it was too obvious) and I got her to Sanctuary and promptly forgot about her. I dusted her off a couple days ago and I decided I’m going to play her as I did on my first ever playthrough in BL2 (who was also a Maya incidentally), doing every single side mission I can. Usually there are a few side missions I always end up skipping (like Iceman Cometh), but I’m gonna take my time do 'em all in normal mode (well, except Terramorphous…) She’s currently about to start round 3 of the bandit slaughter, a bit overleveled but not obnoxiously so, fortunately.

I’m going for a Binder/Thoughtlock build since I never really played that way seriously before, so I’m going down the Motion tree first (save for one point in Sweet Release for a bit of healing). She’s had pretty good luck with loot so far: an Emperor from the assassin sidequest run, Hellfire from the Scorch sidequest, and she picked up a Thunderball Fists from a loot midget in Tundra Express.

I’m a ghost in this topic so i’ll have to post finally something again
So want to take on OP8 raid bosses with Krieg and today got the terra kill after embaressing amount of tries. Tried to proc reaper boosted bloodbath with a babymaker kill on his tantacles and then get him down with my CC. Hold myself in the fight with the grog nozzle and the Flame of the Firehawk. Was kind of tricky to get the right gun ready in the right moment.
Next one is Hyperius

Dice threw Hyperion Siren in Murderlin’s Temple, so she did the 4th round of the Magic Slaughter. She’s playing at OP3 with 20% BAR and the UCP, but for this fight, it’s only doubling Blight Phoenix damage and firing Helios after Ruin (given her build, loadout, and how I’ve customized the patch). She was loaded as follows:

  • Shotgun Fibber (corrosive)
  • Heartbreaker
  • Longbow
  • Yellowjacket
  • Legendary Binder
  • Regular Amp shield (grounded with +5 OP level buff)
  • Bone of the Ancients (shock)
  • Nasty Surprise (slag)

Intense! Most of the time she was flimsily skirting the line between offense and defense. She died once, and took a knee a few times, but got it in two. Sub Sequence Thoughtlock with Chain Reaction (and all the other fun stuff) really makes that shotgun Fibber (binary prefix because reasons) and Yellowjacket shine. I didn’t even fire the Longbow once (and the Heartbreaker was only brought out for the occasional Dwarves).

Frankly, the hardest enemies were the Infernal Skulls from defeated Infernal Skeletons. All of these weapons are awful to lead with except the Heartbreaker, and that element doesn’t work well for fire enemies (and their health pool is low enough that they heal up fast). Thoughtlock didn’t help (Sub Sequence isn’t fast enough to catch it, and it still moves while locked)… after finishing the entire round, there was a lone Skull around, and it took like an extra five minutes to kill it.

edit - Jakobs Assassin rolled the Arid Nexus Badlands and went after some map challenges. I got killed a couple of times (turns out hoping for F0ll0wthrough with a depleted Fabled Tortoise shield to let you make a quick getaway is thwarted by Grim).

Anyway, this is a tough King of the Hill fight because there’s almost no cover. You’ll be glad to know I pulled it off by the skin of my teeth. These three got the jump on me:

This guy is sketchy without Decepti0n on deck, though a WAR Loader was a little rough too.

Reverend Pain cleared Mine, All Mine and A Pretty Good Train Robbery (and got a Slag Nasty Surprise for his efforts). He then gathered all the quests from Scooter so that when he returns to Sanctuary it will be filled with green question marks.

68 Axton blew through the Arid Nexus Badlands without too much trouble, making it to 69 in the process. Next he was off to kill Hector Hodunk, Boll, Savage Lee, and Knuckle Dragger a few times. The result was a Slagga, a Fastball, a Dirty Harry - sorry, Unkempt Harold - and a Hornet, all on level.

On level for a short time, that is: The farming put me 80% of the way through level 69. I think I’ll keep em anyway.

A couple of questions occurred to me:

  • I’m ready to head to Hero’s Pass. Will I be sorry if I go there at level 69?
  • Is there a way to control which weapon is in your hands when you spawn in after loading the game? I always seem to have one that I have to swap away from. No biggie, but you know. Convenience.

EDIT: Level 69. Huh-huh-huh.

Nope. UVHM scales with you. If you had arrived at level 53 the map would be scaled to that. Unless you’re trying to time it so you hit 72 when you curb stomp the Warrior. As for the other bit, I don’t think so. On my PS3 I think I usually spawn in with my up dpad weapon out (I’ll pay attention next time), but I usually cycle through them a few times before I head out, sort of like calisthenics for my thumb.

Tried to figured that a couple times. I think the game scan your brain and spawn you with whatever weapon you don’t want… ! lol

When I’m read-only farming, it’s always the rocket launcher the game chooses :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

edit : note to self - always equip pistols in all 4 slots before farming :man_student:

It seems to default to whatever the game calculates as the most powerful? I’m not sure what specific criterion it uses for that, though.

This is very interesting that we’ve not actually had this discussion ( to my memory ). Despite what I just said about RLs, I will often end up with my Rubi ( which has no particular value or rarity, but is always in slot #1 ) ; but I know I’ve gotten guns from all 4 slots.

i always end up with a grog with maya with a loadout of fire and corrosive pimpernel and a harold, and my durrp for Sal with a loadout of (Grog, Rom, Slag Pimpernel and Durrp).

I think it is not based on weapon slots, so it’s RNG.

Edit. OT still haven’t found an alkaline turtle shield with at least 500k health penalty so that Gaige can bring her health to around 30k which is just about right since 1 bullet of a hail/heartbreaker can give me 30k healing.

On the other hand, I think i found the perfect Gaige Build for my plastyle, I have been looking for this in a while. It is a BFF/LBT with remaining points in OC. here is the build which I spec based on my preference. http://bl2skills.com/mechromancer.html#505105100531450050100551415100130000

I think it is a misconception that Deathtrap is weak in OP8, I agree for some big bad boss/raid boss and some flying enemies, but for regular mobs he is strong (like a Roid Jack build kind of strong). The trick is to make deathtrap sparkle with the correct element, then you do the slagging for him, with a roid shield down and robot rampage procs he will deal 100 million-200 million damage.

My inspiration for the build:

Dahl Commando rolled Hunter’s Grotto, picked up the Big Feet mission, and headed off to Candlerakk’s Crag. He was loaded as follows:

  • Gwen’s Head (slag) - slag duty (no Double Up in this build, and this gun does the trick)
  • Emerald Eel (shock in case of fire enemies; a little bullet reflection for the armed savages, and a little crit bonus for Rouge). Turns out that it would take 1120 rounds from this SMG to drop Rouge.
  • Railer (fire) - for headshotting masked Savages
  • Scorpio (corrosive) - for armored Scaylions.
  • Booster shield (fire proof)
  • Legendary Ranger (should be able to keep it up with kills)
  • Bouncing Bonnie (corrosive, to help with the surprising amount of giant slagged Scaylions running around)
  • Dahl allegiance relic (really makes these guns shine)

No cooldown between the COM and relic and no extra points in Sentry makes this more of a gun-focused combat style, which can get pretty intense given that I’m constantly swapping weapons and aiming down the sight. Managing this, especially with a Legendary Ranger COM on, is pretty fun though. With kill skills up, a single burst from the Scorpio can drop a (slagged) Tailless Scaylion. Sans kill skills, it’ll take more than one (which is a lot when you’re managing reload intervals). Highlights:

At one point, I’m engaging an emerging mob of Scaylions, backing down the hill as I work them down, when one of the Slagged giants actually runs behind me and flanks me from behind (he’s on the left here about to leap):
flank

Double Nuke is super handy to keep in the bank for finishing off weakened mobs. These three pups will all die from Nuke (the slagged ones with the first drop; the unslagged one with the second).

Railguns… I love having these ā€œfixedā€ with OP levels and some UCP love so they hit like a proper sniper rifle. The railgun shots appear to be reflected like other weapon fire against tornado-ified Witch Doctors, but a critical hit still works if you luck into wherever their head is (the first salvo missed the crit spot and bounced away harmlessly; this salvo killed him):
