What Is Amara Fakegrasp?

I’m not so sure this is the case. They definitely have a pipeline for failed action skill activation, Moze doesn’t trigger ASE when Iron Bear fails to deploy due to “not enough space.”

Auto Targeting an enemy brings it’s own troubles as with any AI tracking you’re subject to doppiness, and could end up punishing the player for legitimately missing and ending up with the wrong enemy grasped.

I think that the space situation is a lot easier for them to check and return, but I’m well aware I’m deeply in speculation. But I feel like grasp throws an invisible ball, and activation is the throw. And the end is when it hits something. Either it hits an enemy and grabs them…

Which means to make an auto target they’d have to just make the ball bigger…which would then hit something else in the way.

Yeah unfortunately any conversation along these lines is an adventure in speculation. I don’t however think that it’s too large a task to shift the condition that action skill start is when an enemy is picked up, not when the skill is called.

That’s a good solution. And totally feasible,.in my opinion

there should be a cool down if you can’t hit with your action skill anyways (people learn to aim well with their skill by trial and error as it should be imo), I mean no one really likes that idea because it does deter use of the skill, so the next best fix (imo) is remove the chance of missing, automatically hit nearest enemy if the player can’t hit successfully there shouldn’t be an issue with accidentally hitting the wrong enemy because the game does already implement certain weapons with hitscan. such as phebert and fastball (idk, how hard it would be to implement that feature to the skill)

I think that might be preferable to the issue that is caused by fakegrasping. and that already does happen sometime anyway. Although no matter what character balancing only factors in (very negatively at this point of the game’s matchmaking/multiplayer system but that’s another topic) if you play matchmaking. How others choose to play the game is none of my business.

It’s speculation but I feel like there is probably something off with how they set up ASE anointments to trigger across the board. Fakegrasp is the most well known way to abuse this but aiming gamma burst into the sky works the same way. Another weird one for FL4K is that swapping away from a gun anointed for an extra charge of rakk will make the game think you used your action skill (even when your action skill is not rakk attack!). And I think there was a way to menu-cancel Zane’s clone but I’m not too knowledgeable on him

Intended or not they still created the driver class mod that encourages you to use fajegrasp and nerfed the phaserker class mod . Given how the best Amara annointement are phaseslam and phasecast based this whole mess is pretty absurd

Funny thing is they created the fakegrasp mess due to Amara players crying over their CD time when they missed while Moze players were having issues with Iron Bear instantly despawning when used causing loss of the action skill which had a much longer CD. Something that contributed to the whole “Moze may as well not have an action skill” sort of comments and discussions back then.

Honestly I think they should probably just revert the whole CD refund thing with phasegrasp and basically tell people to learn how to aim it. I mean seriously. Apple got away with telling people back in the day with one of their early model iPhones that the signal dropped because the customer wasn’t holding it right and got people to buy overpriced ugly cases for them that did nothing but make the phone fatter.

the CD for IB is ridiculous when compared to other VH’s skills. I mean, Moze gets the least out of action skill up time/ASE benefits. and IB isn’t even balanced enough to what the other VH’s can do to make using IB very beneficial.

Rolling back the CD refund for missing phase grasp would be a good idea, besides there are plenty of things every character can do to bring down their CD anyways.

…both my Mozes have very good bear time. Bear time generally crushes whole sections for me.

IB got me through some tough spots (Billy the anointed to name one) especially pre Mayhem 4, but vanilla Moze is really good w/o even using him all that much. he’s become more of a temporary reprieve when my shields are in danger for me, coming into the dlc, I’ve been hopping into him a lot more tho, so the buffs they’ve done for him are really nice. and I love that Timothy has a better chance with Iron bear than with Moxxi.

As I recall, that was a fun way to play as Gaige (shoot the floor).

As for Amara, there are plenty of efficient and fun ways to play as her.

Rakk attack takes almost 2 seconds to complete and activate “end of action skill” stuff. Why can’t Amara keep that option too?

When she is looking for a spot to phasegrasp nothing, she’s spending time she could otherwise be shooting. I think it’s fair.

Also, let’s remember some of the skill stacking things from BL 2 and TPS. Those were often tedious. I appreciate that we have ways to get powerful quick. Get to the action sooner at most or max of our damage capacity.

All that said, Amara might have some other, actually broken things going on. I feel that a quick action skill end trigger is not one of those.

Maybe amara should keep her Fakegrasp but have it not trigger any ASE anointments and skills. That sounds fair, right?

maybe amara should be left along and people that keep crying about how unfair it is should just not use it or play with someone using it and let people have fun with the game.

I don’t see why they shouldn’t neft her. Moze HAS ONLY ONE healing ability and they nerfed it into the ground. PLUS it’s bugged as hell and doesn’t activate 50% of the time. And you’re telling me to not nerf fakegrasp? Which makes Amara basically immortal and OP as hell? And it’s also a freaking glitch? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

Yes, there are. The problem is, that for most players Fakegrasping with a Driver is the most efficient way to play. And Fakegrasping ist oversight/bug exploiting. I have no doubt, that this will be addressed by GBX.

I realize, that there are some players, who really like Fakegrasping as a playstyle. Maybe there is a way to keep Fakegrasping, but remove some of the bonuses.

Who knows what they fix or nerf or buff. I am playing only moze atm because i dont want to start another vh just for them to change things. So far moze is still playable but could use another regen skill.
