I’m playing as Maya, around level 56, and was absolutely dreading doing the Bloodwing fight after the trouble I had with it in TVHM. But I remembered how much AOE damage I took the last time, and noticed I had 1) a Turtle shield with fire immunity, and also 2) an adaptive shield with 40% resistance. I put these on when appropriate, and this fight turned into a joke…I think I only went into FFYL once, and it was because of a skag. So I can see the benefit of carrying these around in my inventory. Is an adaptive/immunity shield the best option, or are there other situational ones?

Also, does a resistance relic stack with an adaptive shield? I noticed I have one that gives around 20% resistance to all elements and thought it might be good to have in certain areas, if they stack.

Definitely situational… check out the Transformer, for example.

Maya can make any shield work, except roid shields, but she’s not a melee character anyways.

Yeah that’s true. What I’d recommend is the Turtle shield. They’re great with high capacity and Maya can counteract the slow regen. For the Adaptive one if I recall they add health, so if you play a Support/Medic Maya I’d use that since I heard somewhere that with a certain COM the teammates will heal a percentage of your total health pool which means the more health you have, the more health your team regens. But generally speaking, you can use just about anything.

Why no roid shields for Maya?

That transformer shield is an RNG drop deep into the Preserve…must take some time to farm. What’s the drop rate like?

You can play melee maya sure, but you have to skip some pretty good skills and she doesn’t have any real melee skills.

I wasn’t saying she can’t use them, i meant there special effect(roid damage) is mostly useless on her

In UVHM I’m almost always goes with an Antagonist because it’s easy to farm from vendor in Flamerock refuge. But of course you’ll need to had kill Pete a dozen times…

I forgot about the seraph vendor(s)…it’s been so long since I played. Looks like I have a fair bit of work in front of me (but in a good way). I’m so looking forward to going back to the Tiny Tina DLC…it was so much fun the first time. And those Dark Souls easter eggs were classic.

People with guns maps: absorb shields
Beast/ melee maps: Fire spike shields, shock spike shields on Stalker maps.
Areas allowing for a lot of safe sniping: Amp shields.

Easiest & earliest gauranteed absorb shiels is from Out of Body Experience for the 1340. In a pinch I get that one if none have dropped in game.
