I think you’re thinking of Zero. Even Sal can’t use a level 1 pistol, especially a Dahl (the brand he’s the worst with) pistol.
I think you need to re read op. he had just started a sal. getting picky over guns is not that useful till uvhm and prolly 72.

so, as a massive noob (like i havent played for QUITE a while and defo cannot handle this high level shit), i need just some kind of good gunzerking for VERY early game. any easy builds that i prolly won’t mess up? or, like brands & aspects of guns that are good for v early? (sorry if im asking too much)
Have you checked the character builds section at the top of this thread? Lots of builds for early level Sal- I have one there myself that seems quite popular (not close to Deputy Sal though but…
)
Sal build, short version :
Rampage tree first
Inconceivable is a must
Skip I’m ready already
Last longer, YKY and Get Some are the holy Trinity, put 5 points in all 3, no exceptions.
Hard to kill and Incite are nice, so is L&L.
Once in UVHM, Gunlust become better and Brawn less so.
Money shot is powerful, but really dependent on your guns.
Pistols? I’m your huckleberry and Div. Likeness are good.
Hyperion shotguns are your best friends
Other shotguns are your next best friends.
Anything Vladof or Torgue are friendly acquaintances.
Avoid the semi auto crowd (Jakobs and Dahl)
Off-hand a slag weapon, always
Off-hand a Moxxi weapon, as much as you can.
If you don’t know what you’re doing, a Berserker, Hoarder or War Dog COM are great picks.
Relic is either sheriff’s badge or more health.
Shield is adaptive, more health
Who cares about grenades ?

I don’t know- throwing out 8 Magic Missiles at once can cause a lot of chaos- if you like your fun chaotic…
