Gears of War 4
How does it stack up against GoW 1-3? (Been a long time since I played those…)
Gears 2 is still my favorite, but I’d put Gears 4 right after it.
Really like it a lot, I’m really looking forward to Gears 5.
The binding of isaac: afterbirth+
For anyone who isn’t familiar you basically play as a small child as you go through different floors trying to kill your mom. (It has lore, but out of context it sounds better)
Randomly generated rouge like
PS4 only has booster packs 1-3 and no mod support go figure
Took my second character (SneekyDee) through Nick Valentine’s personal quest, and then did some random farming stuff while trying to get my settlements a bit happier and less prone to attack. Unlocked the “Close to the Metal” perk, which was nice. I think I need to go kill a bunch of synths - having a hard time scrounging up enough oil and aluminium to build the stuff I want.
Played some more ark on Ragnarock. Finished my stone house, then built some stuff on my raft and explored the north coast. Found some interesting stuff
I’ve pretty much been living in the lands of Lothric and Yharnam for the past month and a half. I might pick up the DLC for Bloodborne soon but at this point it costs more than the game itself. On the topic of Dark Souls 3 I recently went out and bought the Fire Fades Edition for $20. Pretty good deal if you ask me considering it comes with all DLC. I’ve ran through DS3 about 3 times so far and I’m a few trophies away from the Platinum. The only I have left are those stupid Covenant trophies where you have to kill X amount of players or do this a million times
Even though I really enjoy the game I do have some problems with it. The balance feels off in some ways especially in terms of weapons. It’s hard to balance a single player game when people are screaming for weapons to be nerfed because they’re really good in PvP. The most notorius example is the Fume Ultra Greatsword (FUGS).
The weapon isn’t terrible now but it’s just not worth it in most scenarios. When the game first came out this weapons was everywhere because it was so good. Pure strength weapons, hits super hard. Then it gets nerfed, 60 AR knocked off the weapon and now even though it’s the heaviest Ultra Greatsword in the game it deals comporable damage to a weapons that weigh half as much. If you two hand it at 66 strength which then becomes 99 strength (since two handing a weapon increases your strength by 50%) it pulls ahead because it has superb strength scaling but until you hit that level it gets edged out by the competition because they brought down the base damage by so much. This isn’t the only problem I have with balancing but it’s the most notable in my opinion. God forbid a heavy weapon hits hard.
I don’t want to make it sound like I hate the game so I’ll spend some time high lighting what I love about it.The bosses are sick. While the first few feel really easy or at least too easy for a Souls game. It all changes once you get to Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. Not only do the knights in this place kick major ass, the boss here is said to make many quit the game. The boss of the area, Pontiff Sulyvahn can combo like a champ, summoms a clone and has infinite stamina. The guy will claim the lives of every player first time without fail. He’s also super evil in terms of lore. He’s like the root of all evil or atleast the embodiment of it. The guy was a horrible person sending his men out to die, cutting their throats and imbuing them with the darkness of the Abyss, locking the Anor Londo gods inside their holy city, feeding Gwyndolin to Aldrich the devourer of men and gods alike. Giving his soldiers rings with his eye in them which over time corrupts them into hideous beasts, stealing the Profaned Flame and falling to its deceptions of power inspiring a terrible ambition within him, wrongfully proclaiming himself Pontiff and ruling the city for himself. That aside though Irithyll is one of the most beautiful locations in a game ever. You can get a peek at it from the first image within this post. Also the DLCs in the game are great. While Ashes of Ariandel is short and links into the Ringed City DLC, Ashes contains one of the coolest bosses in Souls as well. Sister Friede and Father Ariandel is such a cool fight. Friede jumps around all over the place with dual scythes and Father Ariandel smashes all around the boss arena with huge damage and fire AOE attacks. On top of that it has some of the coolest phase transitions a boss can have. When you go through two phases and they drop to ground and dissappear you think you’ve won, naturally. Then Ariandel starts speaking from his disembodied voice and Friede rises back up. The game literally bamboozles you into thinking you’ve won then beats the crap out of you in the final phase of the fight! In her 3rd phase Friede becomes Black Flame Friede and her scythes start glowing with black flames as she spins and dashed around dealing insane damage and leaving you amazed as she hops aroudn the room, gliding around in a spectacular show of blades, fire, ice, and good old fashioned grab attacks that decimate your health bar. Easily my favorite boss in the game topping Gael, although I don’t have as much experience fighting him.
All in all, it’s a pretty dope game and the reason for why I haven’t played BL in a few months. It’s good to branch out and play some new stuff every once in a while. 9/10 or 8/10 for DS3 and 10/10 for BB. Love both games even though I didn’t talk about Bloodborne much at all. It’s amazing.
You’re on ps4 right? If so if i ever pick up ds3 or bb or you ever pick up ds2 we should co op or pvp
Oops I’m late on the reply but yeah that would be dope. I’d recommend Bloodborne first and foremost but DS3 is great too. Imagine doing a 4 player co op run. Would be sick
Maybe one of these days I’ll play a dark souls game.

Maya and Gaige served hot-fun-in-the-sun style death to pirates, spiked Son of Craw 6(000) feet under, and did a bit of treasure hunting.
Maya makes a pretty solid murder detective.
Been battling that stupid save file bug in FO4 where it keeps telling you that you don’t have enough room on your drive when you do. Lost quite a bit of progress that way. Anyway, finally caught up and moved on. As you can see, Nick and I have been busy collecting ancient hardware:
The shoulder artwork on the red suit is a nice touch. Night-time shot of the settlement at Dalton Farm, not long after it had survived a massive creature assault. I’m really glad I put all those turrets overlooking the entrance! Basically, I just lured the critters into the death lane, and the turrets annihilated them.
Is that a Veruc? What element is that?
A Shock Veruc, yeah. I’m no BL2 expert, but I like the Veruc on Gaige for the good number of pellets flying around and the medium sized mag. You reload fairly often for the number of pellets you’re putting out and the burst is one of the better ones, not slow like some.
Also, tears apart Loaders, you can hit all their upper crit spots at the same time.
And it’s purple.
Yeah the Veruc is aight. I was pretty pleased when this dropped.
I have a quiet love for 3-burst Dahl snipers if the burst itself is fast. I don’t use them on committed sniper characters, but on most characters a good TH-TH-THAM is a great way to ruin some poor mook’s day.
I love me a Veruc (mine’s slag, but the high shot count does a decent job at “assault rifle that applies slag”).
Torgue Commando went to Wurmwater to ply his trade against the local Hovercraft.
Got a shot off on one of the Hovercraft while it was still airborne from its spawn tube:
…took a while to get that airborne shot, but I also got this:
This guy came at me with something that was insta-igniting me from the roof across the map. I used Nuke to knock him off the roof so I could see what it was. On the bright side, I refilled all my rocket ammo when boosters from the Big Boom Blaster started flying off from the fire.
I also finally figured out how to grenade jump up here where I’m standing. I usually play king of the hill on the peak of the radar antenna in this shot (which was pretty fun today), but for something new, I’m going to try it from the lower antenna (probably be easier, but I won’t know until I go there).
Prepare yourselves. I’m playing another Fire Emblem game.
Now, I had planned to finish Awakening and then play some of the older games in the franchise before checking out Echoes/SoV, buuuut hey I went to gramestrop and made an impulse purchase, what’re you gonna do?
I guess this sorta counts as an “older FE game”. It’s a remake of the second one, the one that overhauled a myriad of base mechanics. For the second game in what would become a franchise with 15 main entries, it really was a risk to change so much before they really had the brand under their belt. The original, Gaiden, is known for being the black sheep of the franchise, but they managed to pull it off and are doing well these days.
I’ve half a mind to chit-chat about things that stick out to me, but no. It’s different, and I like how it’s different.
Ooh, that said, I love the way battle animations are initiated and I’ll not ignore it.
In Awakening, units would move and engage each other on the map, the camera would then teleport to a generic room unique to that map until the units were done trading blows, and then the camera would teleport back to the map. Simple and effective, but a bit bland after seeing the exact same room for the umpteenth time while grinding levels.
In Echoes the camera SWOOPS DOWN LIKE A FURIOUS EAGLE when combat begins and pulls you right into the thick of it. And what’s more, the terrain your units are occupying(forests, buildings, etc.) are displayed accurate the the map you see while issuing commands. There was this remarkable moment where I was charging up a flight of stairs toward an archer and when he retaliated I was not only standing on stairs, but I could see the castle wall and a grove of trees I had used as cover behind me. They actually put together a tiny diorama of each battlefield instead of setting up one room for a whole mountain pass/temple/field! A small detail that really puts you into the game, I love it.
Pegasus Knight talk, I’m not even sorry anymore!
Clair does not pull her punches.
While spears do make you bleed, I doubt they wound as deep as this savagery.
Ark on Ragnarock(this time with pictures)
All legit except something wouldn’t let me place the final 3 back walls, so i used creative to move the whole thing forwards1 foundation
I’ve since started making the walls around it 2 high
