been playing the Avengers Beta. idk how long it is. but ive put in at least 10 hours so far. and i think its great.
Horizon Zero Dawn⦠have 33 hours on it since it was released three days ago.
Pros - game is gorgeous and fun, and Iām a total sucker for this flavor of post-apocalyptic world. It feels a little like S.T.A.L.K.E.R, except itās the opposite of dark and gritty, and they nailed the wildlife dispersal. Like Iām not making a ton of progress, because I canāt pass up clearing out all the machine camps, and theyāre everywhere. The animation and sounds of those robotic critters is seriously 10/10 though: legit do not think there is room for improvement.
Cons - I cannot abide third-person shooters. Iāve made exceptions for three games (all, strangely, American McGee productions): Alice (was received much like this game when it came out), Scrapland (the aerial combat is fantastic), and Alice Madness Returns (similarly gorgeous and entertaining). This is like one of the finest filet mignonās Iāve ever eaten, but itās got the ketchup from old portion-control bags on it. I mean, itās good, but dude (and itās got a little consolitis aftertaste). Also, and I find this strange, but BL3ās photo mode is way better.
I finished the Frostback Basin story, and am currently taking a bit of a break from DA:I. Well, apart from diving into some of the lore videos - thereās quite a bit I missed along the way for various reasons, so it was fun to catch up.
Some fun stuff: triggering the final story mission in this DLC changes the map from day to night, and it looks awesome:
Congratulations! You have killed a possessed dragon with your bare hands! (Well, not quite - there might have been some weapons and spells involved this time!)
After that I installed the b/c version of HALO 3: ODST. Got through the first Rookie segment just fine, but Iād forgotten how quickly things escalate when you get to Buckā¦
Cleared that and revealed all the memories available, now on to the identification of the bodies and causes of death. 6 down, 54 to go. I suspect it will take me a while, and that Iāll be leaving and coming back to mitigate frustration and clear my head. I think Iāll take a day off and then go back to start the paperwork.
Edit. Nope. Gonna hit it and see how many I can clear before I get frustrated. Iāve been thinking about it all day, because thereās such a thing as a healthy obsession.
Last game has been mobile
only because they washed carpets today. So no place to sit while things dry.
I love the Rookie sequences in this game. Iād probably be better off playing co-op in some ways, but that really breaks the immersion of the ālone squaddie against a city of aliensā set up. The extremely limited health, ammo, and weapon supply drops add to the feeling of desperation and loneliness. The difference between that and the retracing of the rest of the squadās steps is literally night and day.
Anyway, just up to the wildlife reserve and pinned between a cliff, an upside-down Warthog, and a Wraith, conveniently right on top of a check-point⦠Going to take some creativity to get out of that particular mess!
I played a fun little game called Double Cross. Itās a very platformer with some mild point-and-click adventure elements. Iām not generally a platformer fan but I really dug this game.
Has anyone heard of a game series called āSaints Row?ā If not Iāll introduce you to it. Kidding aside, this is one of those series I had for some reason decided I wouldnāt like. But the second game was free on Xbox last month and I decided to try it. Knowing how the series eventually goes into ridiculous comedy, I think I might just end up strapping myself in to marathon the rest of them.
I have Saints Row 1-4, Gat out of Hell all on 360. Bought them all during the same sale.
Only SR1 is 360 exclusive, rest are not.
SR4 was free with gold long ago.
Finished my re-acquaintance with HALO 3: ODST. Man, that gameā¦
Tried split-screening on the b/c version on XB1 with my son, but it did not exactly work - video was extremely laggy and total b0rked. Good way to create psychedelic art work though.
started mycareer on nba2k20 a week ago.
i actually created a farm build using a paint beast center for the rockets with defensive rating and all, just to build up vc for my would be main player, but while play calling, the point guard run a play for me and i scored and scored and scored. Became a starter on the 20th game, and decided to stick with him (although build is terrible but it is okay since i donāt plan to play with other players with it).
Rockets are 1st in the west and i am now 10 games into the playoffs, and i bump the minutes from 7 mins to 12 mins per quarter to raise my stats up a bit and contend for mvp vs Giannis. I currently averaging 28-12-4.
also i played all 70+ games so far.
Can we get an interpreter in here, please?
I think I got the gist of it, which appears to be āIām doing good!ā
Nope, not that good. I am playing on pro which is the lowest difficulty on my career. This is my first 2k game since 2k15.
Good players average 50+ points. Lol
I will simply assume that you are doing better than I would under the same settings!
Started playing through the Uncharted games again for the umpteenth time (a smaller umpteenth than if this was BL2, but still a bunch), because Iām not in the right headspace for the deduction heavy Obra Dinn right now (though I will be back sooner or later). The remaster is definitely smoother than the PS3 version, but it still has a little jank. It may not stand up to repeated plays for anyone else, but Iām loving it.
I replayed Mirrorās Edge.
Iām surprised it still holds up despite it being 12 years old.
I should get around to playing Uncharted 1-4, Lost Legacy on ps4, but Iām occupied with other things.
I know that stuff was changed/removed for the remaster.
There are a lot of older games that hold up really well. They may not have the same quality of graphics or special effects, but they can still be a blast to play.
About 3/4 through the campaign of Uncharted the first. Itās my smoothest run of this game yet, Iāve made it through with a minimal number of death animations. But, I am reminded that the combat is my least favorite part of this series. It gets better as the series goes on, but it is definitely not why I buy my ticket each time. That honor goes to the maps and the traversal. The environment is gorgeous, the traversal feels satisfying, it is where each installment shines brightest.
Edit: 87% according to the save file. Just entered the mutant/mystical monster section that the first three titles all employ toward the end.
Just wondering what people are doing to satisfy the shooter itch once theyāve burnt out on BL3. For me, Horizon Zero Dawn has got to be game of the year. It kinda blindsided me. Iām not a console player so Iād never heard of it until it released on PC, but Iām already considering buying a PS5 just so I can play the sequel!
The graphics are stunning for a 5-year-old game and the combat is incredible. Fighting mechanical dinosaurs with bows and arrows, especially robot T Rex with frickin lasers, whatās not to like. Iām approaching the end of the game and the combat never gets boring. You get new skills as you level up that let you easily deal with the smaller machines, but combat against the more lethal ones never getās too easy. It feels so dynamic, you really get the impression that the AI wants you dead. Rather than just running at you and eating arrows the AI actually tries to counter you, hiding, flanking, even running away and alerting other machines.
There are only a handful of weapons, but every one serves a purpose and I find myself regularly switching between the 3 types of bow and different ammo types during a fight. For me a dozen well-crafted weapons trump a bazillion useless ones any day, GB should take note.
And to top all that Aloy as a 6-year-old is possibly the cutest video game character ever!
