What was the last game you played?

I have not, but it is on my wishlist in the PS store. It’s got a pretty hefty price tag currently, $50 is a little past what I’d usually consider. It’s kind of like the Witness, something I want to play but is priced a little high for my taste.

Currently 8 chapters into Uncharted 2 now. Always love my time with these games.

Are you planning to play 3, 4, Lost Legacy?

Ayuh. The “Indiana Jones with Modern Guns Marathon.” First time through the remastered original 3 (these feel really good to me, I’ve played them 2-3 times each on PS3 and the remasters feel good), 2nd time for the last 2. It’s nice to see how the series evolved over time.

OMG they remastered Chex Quest!!

This is the first FPS I cut my teeth on, dialing in the muscle memory and coordination to look/move around with the standard kb/m control scheme.

It came in a CD in Chex cereals in 1996 (or that’s when I got mine), where they had some studio make a kid-friendly Doom mod with a cheesy story where the character is a piece of Chex cereal. They made a 2 and 3, but those were hard to find and even harder to make work until years later, the devs (out of their love for the game I think) polished them all up into a single file that runs properly on modern versions of Windows (where previously we had to load .WAD files manually in a Doom emulator and other funny workarounds).

They’re bringing it back in what appears to be the UE4 engine, but themed around the snack mix instead of the cereal. The intro movie and maps appear to be the exact same storyline/builds as before (even the lines and music are the same though redone). I’m in heaven, except the keyboard controls aren’t mappable. WHAT IS THAT? I mean, I’ll download and run Autohotkey to fake the correct keystrokes to the game, but who does that in a modern game? This isn’t even a console port.

I do look on this with a fondness unrivaled among other video games in my youth, but I truly think the voice acting from the original intro video is way funnier for how serious it is. When she says, “we need a volunteer”, she’s so dramatic and serious, and Chexguy is all Buzz Lightyear.

Seriously though, if you can get past the keyboard mapping, it’s free on Steam, and it’s a treat. This is the singular ad campaign that I endorse - I buy and eat Chex products because I have a soft spot for this game (and they’re pretty good too).

That’s some incredible quality of cheese right there!

Me, after progressing my hard playthrough DA:I character a bit, it’s Fallout 4 time again in my incredibly tortuous pursuit of the elusive 100% settlement happiness. Just waiting for some ‘tier 4’ merchants to arrive at their assigned locations, which will hopefully tip at least one of them over the threshold of happiness.

Oh yes, and of course the game crashed on me, because Bethesda!

Just finished Uncharted 2. I’ll have a shortish diversion in another game (tbd later) and then pick up the next leg of the marathon.

Tier 4 merchants installed at a couple of settlements and… happiness goes down?! I swear, someone must be editing the Fallout wiki with misinformation!

Knocked the new Chex Quest out in a few hours. The enemy audio sounds exactly like the original, and the maps are modifications from the originals. The protagonist is also a total Buzz Lightyear trope. For a kid-friendly free snack promotion, I think it’s pretty good. I’ll almost certainly replay it - the map alterations meant that I didn’t find all the secrets, and I’m sure they hid the LAZ in here somewhere. Also, I’ll definitely be doing a full “Super Bootspork” (the chainsaw equivalent) run because it’s super funny.

Back to Horizon Zero Dawn. I’m playing this game sort of like Borderlands. Leveling up is more like an extended training program for the actual game, where I have all my skills and gear available for any combat situation. I just hit level 60, but have a few more skills to fill out before I’m there (though I’m not really sold on Fighting Back (same reason I don’t care for “when health low…” skills in Borderlands) nor Machine Repair, as allies (not mounts) don’t wander far enough to be something I can kite away from their local mob).

I also like to clear up all active missions, and fire them up one at a time. I prefer the way Borderlands handles it where you get a preview of the mission (and I miss a preview of the reward for this in BL3) before you commit. In HZD, even approaching some places throws an active side mission.

Having recently figured out how to do her heavy melee and with some good spear upgrades, I’m all over it. I’m getting pretty good at lining up my dodges, predicting/knowing the different enemy lunges, and pre-charging a heavy swing so I come at them with an immediate riposte when they land.

Managed to get on with my friend to start the latest DLC of BL3. We only played under 3 hours. But we made it to the second boss, that giant dog elemental thing. Short playtime due to this heatwave that has been causing his system to overheat. So that sucks. Hopefully we’ll play more today.

Entwined on my Vita. Rhythm games aren’t generally my jam, but I picked it up because a) pretty visuals, b) the music I heard during my research sounded cool, c) the idea of each stick controlling individual sprites seemed intriguing, and d) one purchase unlocks it on 3 different machines (Vita, PS3, PS4). Completed 2 levels before I powered down. I’ll probably move on to something different tonight, perhaps West of Dead, and then start Uncharted the 3rd tomorrow.

Finished the DLC 3. Very short. So we played Fall Guys. Stupid fun, but can’t seem to win the second round.

Had a weird thing in FO4. One of my settlements had mysteriously gained an extra settler. OK fair enough - I’ll work with that. Settler duly assigned to a store and off we go again. (FTR I never built a beacon on this one deliberately, and it came pre-populated with two.) Then I head back a while later and… one less settler? No interaction dialogue with anyone? Whaaaaat!!!

Maybe they were a synth or something? :man_shrugging:

I had this same thing happen when the game was first released VH, it happened at a settlement I happened to visit often and I just felt something was off about the whole thing so I shot the new settler in the middle of town. Luckily intuition was correct and it was indeed a synth. After this had happened I went and did some checking online and apparently if left unchecked people have had them bumping off other settlers and more infiltrate to take their place.

Today’s games were Klondike Solitaire. I tried several difficulties. Only won once. It was sad.

Also played some GMod. Specifically Prop Hunt. Just fun overall. Of course you get the dumb mic spammers on occasion.

The run-away train went down the tracks and she blew… :boom: :

FINALLY!!!

@Adabiviak

I see that the Talos principle is currently marked down to $10 on PSN. Would I be correct in assuming you’d recommend it?

OT: Started the 3rd leg of the Indiana Jones with modern weapons marathon, Drake’s Deception.

If you’re into puzzle games, totally (and even if you’re not, it’s pretty fun). To be fair, I didn’t finish it because I’m not that into puzzle games myself, and they started getting harder than I like.

I am. This is a daunting one, but looks gorgeous and seems pretty open, so I’m absolutely willing.

That’s what she said? :smirk:

I’ll see where it goes when I get there. The queue is long, but the priority is fluid, so it’ll get tackled sooner or later.

So mobile wise, i started playing a puzzle game. the goal is to kill the targets. so you gotta think what items you can find, use them and make sure there are no survivors. cause then i guess you fail. lots of ads though, but you can take them away for like $2.

Console wise, i tried to play a bit more of Pokemon Sword. was training certain pokemon in the dlc. cant stay focused on the game these days. so i switched to play few rounds of Smash Bros. Was kinda feeling today to go back to either Paper Mario or Crash Bandicoot (stopped on the first island and forgot about it for a while). Idk i have lots of games i havent started or continued with in quite a while
