And on gun customization, I don’t mean actual gun parts, I just mean maybe upgrading the stats on a specific weapon.

So, I was thinking about BL3 recently, and went to the forums to make another suggestion about customizable weapons, since it’s a pretty solid one for once; and lo and behold, the weapon customization is being discussed! I can certainly add to the topic.

For things like tacticool options (offset optics, laser sights, that kind of thing), a partial alternative/addition to more functions on the gun would be socketable equipment; like in Diablo, but with stuff you could legitimately put on a gun without special tools. There could be three, maybe four, possible socket slots: for Optics (giving you different sets/combinations of optics, most often “primary” but sometimes with additional “secondary”, to find and put on top of your guns), Barrel items (sound suppressors, flash hiders, muzzle brakes, barrel extensions), and Underbarrel items (bayonets, foregrips, flashlights, laser sights, maybe grenade launchers for the Protean grenades if that feature is in the game). Maybe also different Stocks, with the ability to exchange them via the socket system, but that’s debatable - it may be going too far into “gun crafting” territory, that Gearbox said they didn’t want to do. And maybe sockets for some more unusual stuff - like gun AIs in the style of BL2’s “Loader shotgun”, if those couldn’t be a type of Optics - or for cosmetic stuff like gun camos. Which gives me a thought about another way to waste money - some kind of cosmetic customizations vendor for your guns - but that’s for another time, perhaps…

On another note, if BL3 does have additional gun interactions, it could use a Triangle/Y button on consoles (instead of cycling through the four weapons - kinda useless when they’re on D-pad), or Q on PC (which was already used for secondary actions in BL2), to bring up a pie menu that lets you fiddle with gun features: select fire mode, turn flashlight or laser sight on/off, fold/unfold the stock for quicker weapon change/less recoil, and so on. And in aiming mode, the Triangle/Y/Q could be for switching between the various optics, or zoom levels, if your Optics set is cool enough for that.

Also…

Vladof helicopter support inbound! Have fun, comrades!

…or Dahl or Maliwan/Torgue.The AV concept would work about the same as the Technical, with the exception that it’s one pilots plus gunners/passengers. Now that I’m thinking about it, door and turret gunners… hmmm…

As for jetpacks, they seemed better than parachutes if your bird is going down. Gives you more control, IMO.

As for the weapons, the optics don’t change stats, which is why I stopped there. However, I felt that only one weapon accessory was mayhaps a little too…little; two seems mayhaps about right, or borderline alright. Would need to see the existing accessory placements, but I think it can work.

Holy crap, a rugged Vladof or Dahl gunship with customizable loadouts for the chin cannon, front-facing missiles, and two door miniguns/death lasers/grenade launchers would just be awesomesauce.

And… I’d say either two or three accessory slots are best, corresponding to easily attachable/detachable things: optics on top rails, underbarrel attachments on bottom rails, and screw-on attachments for the barrel. Out of those, the barrel attachments fit into established BL scheme the least and affect gameplay stats the most… but I just want gun silencers in the game to let me pick off unaware enemies.

Speaking of which, I also just had a thought that Borderlands lacks the aggro mechanic, and it could be really fun if BL3 had the ability to draw aggro - as a standard game feature rather than just Salvador’s end-tree skill. And for that, there could be things like a “loudener” barrel accessory and garish custom paintjobs/character outfits =P

Possible plus on aggro; as for the AV, I’m stopping (for now) at forward-facing (for the pilot) and door gunners if there’s a crew; maybe remote turrets for the pilot – IMO, independent turret control for crew irritated me about previous vehicles because DRiver/Passenger (DRP) coordination was not always there. IMO, a 1-2-1 or 1-3 passenger layout [from front-to-back] would’ve been interesting. Like that truck in B1 – format something like it and sit the driver up front with one VH on the sides and either in back or up top; driver gets a turret and nose gun, passengers get to use their guns and AS (=you can do this from the Bandit Technical’s bed; hope this doesn’t get changed.).

What does everyone think about a glossary for all bosses and mini bosses? Say that once you have beaten a boss the glossary will have a little bio, maybe said boss has two unique drops so there will be two blank slots under the bio. It doesn’t tell you the items until you get them to drop and it fills in the slots with the item so you have a quick way to look up who drops what once you get into farming mode. Might even be cool if it kept up with how many times the boss has been killed and amount of times the items have dropped…

Sounds like Dragon Quest. I like it. :acmaffirmative:

+that.

As for the weapon accessories issue, ive already said my piece (x2), but I gotta ask --how many would be acceptable to you guys without becoming OP-ish?

I can see competitive pve gameplay but not pvp, if you look at so many current games with this out there your right rebalancing the game for the sake of keeping the game balanced for pvp causes pve issues, the borderlands franchise is not known for pvp, I think the current formula works and shouldn’t be changed.

I’ve been waiting for an age I’d love bl3 I don’t care about loot the devs know what their at on that but I’d love Krieg to remain in it I LOVE Krieg I can’t stress that enough as someone with schizoaffective disorder I love gaming and bl2 impartiality because of him I can in ways (more ways then I’d like to admit) connect with him I want to know his back story his history. Also I love the bl series and I have never played a game even a fraction as much as bl2 I’ve completed it 100s of times at the least. My phycologist said that if I didn’t have games like this I’d be in negative schizoaffective disorder which if u look it up isn’t to desirable sorry I’m rambling on I do that to sum up I really really really really really really really want bl3 please please please make it a thing ideas flow through my head I get the skull shivers (see what I did there lol) even contemplating the idea. Sorry rambling againg. Most people don’t realise how relaxing calming and exciting game is for people with an illness like me. My 9 year old some has it to and we play bl2 every weekend non stop because it’s our hobby and escape.

P.S sorry if I posted in wrong place in new to forums they scare me

We get the idea, @purpleboss87, but slowing down might be helpful for better coherency. If you’re worried you might forget ideas, it might help to spew it onto paper (or Notepad) and come back to it later for sorting.

Also, you can edit your post – except for deletion (within 24 hours of in after deletion), it’s not permanent; if you acci-delete, you can undelete within 24 hours. Just don’t do that too often – that’s MY gig. :smirk:

@samuraith: Regarding PvE and PvP, did I suggest mixing them with a prevalence on PvE? IDK, maybe something like “Lost World” with two teams competing for kills…and knocking out the competition?

Eh, it kind of came across that way. But no worries.

Not worried, just deja vu, is all.

This I’d like to have or sure.

Hello,

To set things, i want to outlight :

  • First, i’m a big BL fan.
  • I discovered BL1 with General Knox DLC launch on Steam.
  • I played hundred of hours on BL1 and BL2.
  • I bought all DLC.
  • BL pre sequel was a huge disappointment.

About BL 3, now.

First, many excellent games have been released.
Dying light and it’s gameplay was a huge blast for me.
I dont say i want some Dying Lying in BL3, but it make me think that BL3 can’t be an old BL with number 3.

SO, what i expect as game experience enhancements :

  • Bigger and wider maps, to increase the immersion feeling.
  • Vertical work on maps (floors, upper floors / buildings, sewers / underworlds and grottos = all connected).
  • More quests and longer ones (with multi steps and failure possible)
  • Destroyables walls and vehicles, secret ways (some tagged on radar and some out maps), hackable ways.
  • More refined skill system (multi rank not needed for a skill, but with more specific effect, instead of bonus stacking)
  • No more zillion damage in superior difficulties (was killing the fun). Same for weapon damages : incremental progression instead of logarythmic one, please.
  • Big combat robots playables ?
  • A lot of huge DLC content !
  • a semi living world, with npc and cyclic / unexpected events (meteor showers, sismic activities unlocking grotto, monster attacks or raids on colonies, rare NPC , rare quest, unique quest ?)
  • Quests and contents AFTER main quest is finished.
  • Vehicule customization (with it s own skill tree). Maybe be 1 skilltrree par vehicle ? (robots, jet pack, minicopter …)
  • Races ?

I personnaly think that borderlands franchise need to go up one or two step deeper and more far in terms of gameplays and environment.
Real persons behind the gamers we are grows, and games need to grow too, in terms of (relative) complexity and variety : evolution maybe ?

Just to say i expect a lot from BL3.
I wont buy a BL1 or 2 renamed 3.
But i’d be happy to buy a BL3 reflecting all the qualities from BL1 AND BL2, enhanced in all departments.

TY for reading.
My apologyzes for typo, grammar, spelling etc : i’m not an english native.

Moxxi as a playable character, and her action skill called innuendo storm. sorry

It would be cool if Borderlands 3 had a playable 3rd person mode. That would be pretty cool.

It dawned on me that in-game we often get to decide on quest rewards for missions between options but we rarely get to choose moral outcomes. This is something they did great in the Tell Tale TFBL game, tying quest rewards to those moral choices. It’s a nice mechanic. I would love for that to be an aspect of Borderlands 3, where we can have one of three moral behaviors implicit in our choices (Positive, Neutral, Negative) and have that influence our interactions with NPC, and loot we get as quest rewards.

BIKES! TORGUE BIKES!!!

If those kinda bikes were great in BLTPS, how AWESOME can some TORGUE BIKES be? TOTALLY AWESOME!!

EDIT: BLTPS was NOT a disappointment in itself; the decision to not make a lot of campaign style DLC (like Ned Island, Knoxx Armory, Robolution, Cpt Scarlett, Torgue Massacre, Hammerlock hunt, Dragon Keep) is what doomed BLTPS.

Gravity/jumps/slams were super fun, Athena is teh pwn, Jack’s story was cool, Claptrap DLC was fantastic (no pun intended), laser gun are amazing (hyperion laser with dahl barrel are like O-M-F-G its like a ‘hyperion AR’, i dreamed with it for soooo long!). Yeah, first part (the moon) was like all grey, but so what? BL1 was almost all brown and trash piles.

Dahl troopers made remind a little the good old fights against crimson lance in BL1. Just a little, but still a great improvement over those ‘maricas’ hyperion soldiers that were just reskined bandits.
