So, here’s some ideas, and some rehashed ones from other people in the forum that I agree about
• MORE CUSTUMIZATION OPTIONS.
Being able to make your character into more of how you want it would add a lot more ownership into the game. Having a blend of BL1 and BL2 makes sense, like say, customizable skins? This way you can still have a designed look, while retaining the players own style.
Also, BETTER LOOKING HEADS! Some of them are just GOD AWFUL, like the headhunter heads, for example. I never bought those dlc’s simply because the heads you got from them all looked terrible.
On the other hand, weapons should have some customization. This is something that I have always wanted out this series, and I would be pretty surprised ( and a little disappointed) if gearbox didn’t do something like this.
They could change the grinder so that instead of scrapping 3 weapons for some random POS, you could choose a single part from a weapon while the rest is destroyed, and Marcus (or maybe someone who works for Marcus) could put that part onto what ever weapon you wanted for a fee. Only one weapon part can be placed on any weaoon at a time.
Or, go the Fable 3 route and have one weapon that you can customize all the way through the game, getting stronger as you add better weapon parts that you could break down using the grinder.
•EQUIPMENT SETS
I think that this is a natural progression for the series, and could be a good way to add depth and background info into the universe, as well as give the VHs unique and awesome perks, abilities, and skill boosts that the the previous system couldn’t allow.
•DIFFERENT/ TWEAKED LEVELING SYSTEM
I think that everyone can agree, every character ends up playing a certain way at end game. A good idea that I read was to make the leveling system more constricted, by extending the tiers beyond the 6 that we’ve come accustomed to. Or, another one that I read, was to add a 4th skill tree, which would add a lot more aptions, and hopefully broaden gameplay.
On a different note, badass levels. They should only be obtainable after max level is achieved with a certain character, just like with Diablo 3. I know that they were a replacement mechanic for the weapon proficiency mechanic in BL1, but I feel that they would have a welcome comeback, especially if elemental proficiency’s were added into the mix. Badass levels earned this way would give people something to go for after they hit max level, while being able to earn additional bonus’s on the way there with proficiency’s.
•AERIAL COMBAT
Buzzards need to happen. They could be either single seaters or 3 seaters (one in the cockpit, two one the sides, like the bandits do). It would add a whole new dimension to the gameplay, and could open up level traversal in a way double jumping(as fun as that mechanic was) couldn’t.
•AQUATIC/ SPACE COMBAT.
Oz kits could be used STILL. I think 2K Australia come up with an awesome mechanic when it came to this, and I don’t think that it should be a one shot. I want to see this happen for BL3, and it would open up even more amazing locales to shoot the crap out of.
•CHARACTER STORY INTEGRATION
I am soooo sick of fps having the whole “silent protagonist” bs. It’s lazy and limits the story, and detaches me from the story the game is supposed to tell. How am I supposed to believe that someone will just blindly follows all mission requirements without a word? Who is this character that I’m running around as? Where is the personality?
True, we have more callouts in combat due to TPS, but I’m hungry for more. I want to know and understand where my character comes from, I want to know what motivates them beyond what some echo that I found scattered in the environment has told me.
I want to know who my character is through playing, rather than through the Internet or having to search for the answers in echo logs. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
•ECHO LOGS
BY THE LOVE OF GOD, MAKE THEM GO AWAY WHEN I PICK THEM UP!!! Bring back the echo log menu if you have to, idc, but please, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard Roland address the Crimson Lance!!! Make it stop!!
•NEW CHARACTERS
A lot of people have been going nuts with this one, and a lot of people have been saying that they want
Tiny Tina. I agree, I feel she has a lot of potential as a VH, and with her preferences in explosives and corrosion, she would make a perfect fit as a crowd control character.
However, the other 3 characters should be fresh characters, with fresh powers and abilties. An idea that I read earlier was a vault hunter with a battle scanner as an action skill, with one of the skill trees including a grappling hook (melee override) that they could use to traverse terrain, or pull in enemies. Anyways, Gearbox hasn’t disappointed with character classes that I’ve seen, so I’m sure that whatever they come up with will be pretty awesome.
•WEAPONS AND ELEMENTS
Cryo, explosive, slag, corrosion, fire, electricity. Please please please keep them all in place for BL3, because well, they work, and adds to the mayhem and strategy that goes into the game. Should I freeze these enemies, or burn them? Should I slag this guy, or just go after him with an explosive weapon? There’s so many options available with this game, it’ll be ridiculous not to have them in BL3.
Keep laser weapons in play. The game is a sci-fi shooter, it needs lasers!
Now for the weapons devs themselves, there are some gripes that I have. For one, Dahl should not be allowed to build sniper rifles any more. I HATE THEM SOOOO MUCH! A Dahl shotgun sounds so much better, nothing precision should be in bursts, especially since sniper ammo inventory is limited, anyways.
There should be a new developer for laser weaponry, maybe a company Gaige could be a head of? She did give Deathtrap a laser eye, so maybe she used that to start her own company?
•MISSIONS/MISSION REWARDS
These have been a problem from the get go, even with Claptrap’s secret stash. They need to scale with the level of the player, this way the loot that you get from them aren’t automatically garbage.
Anyways, these are a few things, I’m sure there are more that I haven’t thought of, but I’m sure thereally someone else who’ll bring it up
