But without the shiny graphics or a few minor features like multiplayer.

How many people still play HW1 classic multiplayer? I mean plenty of people have copies of it that have multiplayer. Just curious whatās the average number of players on Gamereanger I think it is? When was the last time you played HW:C multiplayer as well (again, just curious)?

You already have it. Itās called Homeworld Classic, and itās shipped with HWRM. Look it up.
[/quote]Yes but I cant play it because when I try, I get a box in the middle of my screen telling me Iām using the rong resolution when Iām not

Game Ranger usually only has 1 or 2 games up, if any.
Actually most of the people I used to play classic HW1 with no longer have their discs.

Canāt you fix that with a width/height command line?
Google is your friend.
Another thing you can try is this. I donāt know if the version shipped with HWRM still uses those registry entries though.

Iām not good with computers but I will give this a try. I got to say thow, I donā like having to jump through hoops for this when the european Homeworld fans are going to be getting this soon! HWRC Boxed Retail Version hits EMEA Territories on May 7
read it
Homeworld and Homeworld2 with compatibility
I want hard discs!
I want compatibilty!
Would it be possible to run out? What about gain more by salvaging Kadeshi fuel pods and re-educating the non combatants inside (assuming they donāt rush the boarding crews with knives)

I wouldnāt force it on a player, so you need to be able to turn it on and off ā¦But yeah,
if you start blowing through your people then Iād first have it effect your unit caps and ultimately lose you the game if you somehow ran it all the way down to zero.
I mean if you manage to run through 600,000+ people in your play through what kind of victory is that ?
That idea adds an element to the game that wasnāt there before in the campaign. It wonāt fly. But for a mod, it would be cool.

They did this in the Complex mod, Using Crew and Captains that you lose when a ship is destroyed and gain through training in the Crew ship

Like I said originally, its way out in left field this one. So yeah its unlikely this will ever see the light of day as anything other than a mod
The closes to a no death play though I ever managed was the lose of a dozen or so fighters and that took god knows how many saves and restarts to get too. But it felt like one heck of an achievement to pretty much keep every one alive from start to finish.

I would like to see the ability to record/replay games like HW1 had.

YES, THIS! No need for 3rd party screen recorders. This needs to be put back.

3rd party screen recorders will still have their place. You wouldnāt be able to just upload s game recording to YouTube.
HOWEVER! I bet the advancements in web technologies could allow for some genus to develop a āgame viewerā with limited navigation and selection controls so that you could rewatch recordings similar to the way you could with a client.
Along with re implementing old game recording and playback, somebody make that happen.

Ah, you mean recording as in how SupCom and C&C did it, not a video recording but a game replay in spectator mode.

I donāt know how those newer games did it. Iām talking about how HW and HW:C did it. Sounds right though. The recording was a file that had to be played back in the game. You could watch the battle start to finish with full control over the camera angle and position.
