Yeah, I realllyyyyy need his legendary gear. It’s amazing.

Never had trouble scrapping rath. His hp is so low he won’t continue chasing you after one knock back. Either way he’s dead. Unless he ultis you from behind. :frowning: sneaky ■■■■.

You took Triple Threat for a reason.

I’m not even sure what you mean by this. If a character is giving themselves a speed up, then a knockback is even more useless - they’ll be on top of you as soon as you turn to run. The slow will counteract it. Same thing with being slowed - you slow them back, and look at that you’re on even footing again. Quick melee them and run away.

It’s not spammable by definition because it’s on a cooldown. Granted it’s not like you lose your quick melee when you take Flak Off, but if you’re relying on the scrap cannon knockback to keep melee characters off you, your skill at using the quick melee will suffer.

One blast from scrap can knock back two+ people… you can wait for them to catch up and pop it again. It’s not all at once like the nade.

A speed reduction + speed on themself, plus your slow is the same as them being normal and you’re slow. They never got out of range from you. Timed knock back’s can keep them off you until and even after the slow and speed up has passed.

Another aspect of this is once you get the napalm mod and you start using nades for choke points and pushing. Well… now your escape is on cooldown and your scrap cannon is mostly useless.

It comes down to play style quite a lot… I still think an ultimate which struggles to kill anything… is effective at a range the character isn’t usually played at… and almost surely requires a 2nd skill to slow the enemy first… is silly.

ive been having a prob sometimes with scap and the quick melee knockback , sometimes it works an sends them back other time the guy just goes a foot back and is right on me again

Here’s my helix build:

  • Weighed Down - Slow down players trying to escape, no brainer on that.
  • Why not Flak Off? - After the lore challenge is done there’s no need. While it’s great for pushing back melee players your quick melee does a great job of that anyway.
  • Swiss Cheese - Really helps you melt the players when you wanna get rid of them fast
  • Red Dot Sight - Allows you to maintain decent mobility while aiming and the increased RoF just adds to the DPS
  • Stick ‘N’ Sap - Now not only are they slowed their having their shields drained too. Can really nail a player that is low health but full shield.
  • Killer Regen (rank 3 mutation) - Kill a minion, gain regen, kill a large shard cluster, gain regen, realllly helps remove the reliance on regen stations and support characters, allow you to stay alive much longer and let your supports work on someone big like Montana.
  • Napalm (rank 5 mutation) - Really synergizes with Stick ‘N’ Sap, adds to the overall damage you’re putting out by adding little damage over time everywhere, and it can sometimes kill someone from the grave for you. Also really helps in getting rid of minions with a little AoE.
  • When Three Just Isn’t ENough - Sure I have to reload more often, but I do more damage per burst.
  • Spread Shot - I’m not certain, but I think the higher density increases the damage and besides that the higher spread means a higher chance of landing “Swiss Cheese” when in a panic.
  • Swift Stickies - I wanna be at the ready to slow down a player that’s running away, or slow down an aggressive player trying to get close. Also helps the anti-minion “Napalm”
  • What Shields? - I love this one, melts the hell out of people that don’t expect it. However, Overoverdrive is great in some PVE situations or for taking down a Sentry

Are you looking for help or what?

I’ll operate under the assumption you are and say Swiss Cheese is objectively worse than Scrap Bank, you can run the numbers and see for yourself. Scoped Up extends effective range and helps accuracy if you’re having troubles try it out instead. Triple Threat over Stick ‘n’ Sap, sure Stick ‘n’ Sap adds more damage than the other options, but you lose the 3 naplam pools.

Nope, just what works for me :stuck_out_tongue:

Not a win, but I did contribute to the team a lot

No need to die so often to get kills/assists.

Well aware, I’m reckless in my play style :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish people would stop picking him, very annoying when it’s on my team and disappointing on the enemy team. He’s just not useful, Melka completes his objectives and goals FAR more effectively while having a similar concept of being a ranged assassin if you want another choice. And if you want push there are far better choices, just stop with the Whisky Foxtrots because it’s not going to work out.

I don’t agree with that at all. Once he gets his mid-game abilities he can clear waves well, he can jungle pretty well, he eats tanks like Montana or Kelvin for breakfast and with his AOE and ACOG he can easily chase off snipers from their perches. You just need to know his strengths and weaknesses to do well with him. He has some incredible burst damage if you use him right (ult, nade, flak, empty mag into face, taunt), but he suffers in short range fights against skinny characters.

As Montana the only character I regularly die to is Whiskey. That ult shreds me from about half or three-quarter health because he can hit me with every bullet due to my huge hitbox. I fear Whiskey far more than most characters. And his base rifle outdamages me at range.

Marquis can’t kill me outright (he does a boatload of damage and pushes me back, sure, but I don’t die). Same with Thorn.

I know this is just one matchup, but thought I’d mention it.

I view him as useless.

Same

I encourage all pro Whiskey players on PSN to try this.

I’m 5-0 so far for Whiskey players with my perspective characters. Until a majority can prove me wrong I’ll always say as a character he sucks and you could just do better with someone else.

Oh hey, we were supposed to play yesterday.

On topic though, he’s more than capable late game. I rather enjoy using him and although KD doesn’t really matter, I still tend to have a great spread on him. He shouldn’t be labeled as an easy character to pick up since to use him properly one needs to level him up to unlock his late game power.

Yea I didn’t get to play like I wanted to as I made an unexpected trip out of town, but I will be available tomorrow before 7 CST as I gotta make another trip out of town and then again around 10 CST possibly.

I play him and have fun with him(on PS4 if you are wondering). I can do well in some matches. Do I think he is good? Not really, there are definitely way better choices. It’s hard to hit and the damage you usually do isn’t great. Plus his reload is so slow. Although, I still do okay with him.

There’s a few characters that are liabilities.

Whiskey is one of them. Anyone who can do good with Whiskey can do better with Oscar Mike or even Benedict.

I also think Toby, Caldarius, and Ambra fall into this category. (with Pendles inevitable future state as an honorable mention :smiling_imp: ) and I have seen some really great players with each of those - it’s just that I’m sure if they where someone else they would be doing way better.

Just played a match with him to see what was up and got murdered not only just for me but for my whole team. Played on ps4 and wow this is the worse battleborn I have ever played. Hard to hit with and does no damage. Just wow.
