When i buy B3 via epic... can i play later with my Friends on steam?

Nobody of my friends want to buy B3 via epic store…the want to wait until april next year and buy it on steam. So can i play with them when i buy the game via epic store ?

Epic Games Store + Steam = Crossplay? Borderlands 3 General Discussion

I really don’t mind BL3 releasing on Epic and I’d pre-order it right away, but I’m worried I won’t be able to play with my friends who decide to wait for the Steam release… So my question is: Will there be “crossplay” - will Epic Store players be able to play with Steam players?

Is where this is being discussed… And no solid info on this has been released yet.
