When Inventory Lag will be fixed?

I never got that before. maybe any one else?

Heaven forbid you need to change your action skill damage element in the middle of a multiplayer game with Amara.

30 seconds later my skills might show up on screen. Another 10 seconds and maybe I can move the cursor to select something.

Shouldn’t the game be pretty well optimized for consoles since they have standard hardware? Am I wrong to think that should have been a basis for making sure there was no lag was running the game on a base console in offline mode and making sure it worked smoothly before releasing it for purchase to their audience?

You would assume. I’m on PS4 Pro in performance mode. You would think I would have top tier performance. This game is poorly optimized across the board. Heaven forbid I select 4K mode and play with low frame rate slideshow.

Yes and no. Most developers develop the game on PCs, and then port it to consoles. There’s usually performance budgets, but in order to make an awesome experience on PC, you end up pushing hard against console budgets, and you almost always go over - and the delta between current console hardware and what PC’s can do now is massive, making it harder to bridge that performance gap.

This does not excuse what I’ve been hearing is poor performance on the PC, too, though.

(Funny story: I knew an engineer that would secretly put in a block of background performance eating code, so that artists always thought they had less budget than they actually did. Once the product was almost finished, he’d remove the code so that it would always bring the project back down under performance budgets.)

Oh, and Scaleform. They’re using Scaleform for their UI, and then injecting it with 3D models of your guns. First, Scaleform is trash and has always been a performance nightmare - it’s literally Flash, and coding in action script in 2019 is your first mistake.

Thirdly, having to load all those 3D models into memory so you can have pretty icons uses a ton of memory. Lastly, they also render another version of your character model to stand on the right side of the screen when you look at your skills, which means they’re now adding another extremely high detail model to render. It’s all very pretty and very poorly thought out when it comes to performance considerations. (BL2 had a model of your character but it was actually just redisplaying your character as they appeared in the world, which I imagine used less memory).

It’s definitely the worst thing about BL3. opening map/invintory and a smooth transition between tabs is needed.
