When Pendles Snipes You

Yes. This so much. It’s a joy sniping invisible blobs and getting KOs

Lol, yep. You’re one of three who gave me trouble. Sadly your team wasn’t behind you so you couldn’t do as much. But it was terrifying when the screen was purple and I was slowed

If you’re using the Quartermastery Bin, I would suggest +Movement Speed/+Sprint Speed Gear, you’ll not only be impossible to catch if things go wrong (revealed or caught red handed) But also traverse the map VERY quickly. There’s a +5.6 Movement Speed/+5.6 Sprint Speed epic (-heal power) that I use along with any other Sprint Speed gear (Go-Go Juice is best, but I use a -Recoil free sprint gear to get that boost from the start).

As soon as shards spawn, you’ll be able to get there before anybody and keep running around collecting all of them. If you are aware of the shard spawn timers, you’re set.

ive done it with miko. It was hilarious. I ran right up to him and stunned him. It was pretty much over with then.

I use the exact time same build with him. Those boots are my favorite piece of equipment in the game just because they make sense

Lol that’s great. I just got good enough to use Sporeshock (Trail of Spores is better if you can’t land the stun. Amazing slows across the entire lane), so I’ve yet to really use it that much. Helps with kills a lot though. (I mainly used him in PVE or super supporty so I am just embracing his skill at shutting down fools)

it’s a huge risk/reward to be aggressive with it. Works well with people coming directly at you or hitting you in front. No aiming really, just hit the button.

I blame the team comp and the map personally

Yeah other was sad. There a few who can do great independent of team (Orendi, Thorn, Ambra), but Pendles si the one who’s distinctly hindered by history team, along with Kelvin and Attikus and such

A question- sometimes I see Pendles’ outline after he’s stealthed (not that the predator blob is that hard to spot in the open) and I’ve had the outline persist even when he ran behind a building to go destroy some of our back defenses. What exactly causes that? Is it just a bug?

It is indeed a bug. You may have noticed, but effects like slows and dots (Mellka’s and Ambra’s especially) sometimes linger in an area. Luckily, they don’t actually affect you, they’re just animations. Unfortunately for poor Pendles, his passive interacts in a way where those effects, including reveals, can stay permanently attached to him, ruining his game. Remember though, buildables and sentries won’t see him. He’s not actually revealed, the effect is just still around him. By playing Ambra (two reveals and a DOT), you can exploit this and ruin their day.

While I wouldn’t say I ENJOY playing against a good Pendles, I do enjoy when I beat him 1 vs. 1 way away from the combat zone, yes. It’s one of the few instances where I may actually taunt, both as a “don’t step to me!” and a honorific “nice try, gg.”

When a good Pendles gets me, I just give him a tip of the cap and remind myself to be more focused, take nothing for granted as a safe zone.

Was playing in Meltdown, on headset with friends. I pull a particularly brazen double-kill as Gal, leaving me very low on health. I had used Abyssal Form during the battle and it was on cooldown, so I shield up and withdraw from lane as enemy reinforcements arrive, and I’m heading for a supply station. When I get “out of danger,” I drop shield and sprint. I’m maybe two steps from the area of effect…

Pendles strikes. I’m down almost instantly. I don’t know how long that guy had been watching me make my retreat, but he waited until the moment I didn’t really have an ally around for support, struck hard and fast, and got out.

On mic, I exclaim: “Ahh, man. I was two steps away from the heal station and Pendles got me. Good for him.”

Ally: “Good for him?!?!?! You’re too (expletive deleted) nice, man! I’d have been mad as hell!”

Me: “Nah, that’s Pendles’ job. It was a good play.”

A little later, I got him back. It wasn’t fancy or anything. He sprung on an ally who was defending against a wave, I shield tossed and werq’d dat snek hed.

as marquis my most satisfying kills were when inexperienced pendles would try to chase me to spawn…right by the sentry…and i’d drop a reveal owl…

Yep, same. I don’t feel anger, just determination and respect for a job well done.

Awwwwwwwww, I’d feel bad. Although I don’t when playing my mains (Orendi and Ambra) so I guess I don’t have much room to speak here. Although I can say, when he came out, I wasn’t affected for a lil over a month.

it was more because it was chaos rumple and I noticed him trying to hard focus me, which is fine. but…He tried to chase me all the way to my second sentry…I even said “my owls will reveal you.” beforehand!

Lol. That’s just bad

after that I decided to drive the point home hard, he’d run up on the fight in lane so i’d drop an owl(i’m weird, a lot of the time i play marquis as a german pistolero for those sweet sweet crits to reduce my cooldown) and just let him run himself to death. but i’ve gotten very good at spotting distortions since playing against pendles.

I hate that snake. Pure and simple lol.

I suck playing him and I suck playing against him - can’t even kill him when he is facing me head on and I unload into him with Montana or Oscar Mike … I have much to learn…

Likewise, a good Pendles will ruin any fun time in Incursion thanks to those maps having a million and one way of getting into the base and the team being too busy pushing/defending to then jog around to the back entrance and stop him from wrecking everything in base.
You normally can’t afford to send more than one person to stop him, but he’s an assassin, whom do you send that will win against a target that can literally stay invisible until it choose to reveal, thanks to damage not revealing them? He’ll just go around a corner, regain shield, then ambush them. Or, just run away, unpunished.

Also, is it just me or can he jump up all the one-way walls on Overgrowth? I had a Chaos game with two of them that just kept backdooring us via the two-thrall room over and over. Since that room is so far removed from the main line our team couldn’t practically keep an eye on it.

I’m sure he’s balanced and I just need to get better at countering him, but I’ve always found stealth assassins in MOBAs obnoxious and Pendles seems to suffer from none of the limitations that those normally have. Normally their stealth is either a “get in” or a “get out” ability, they can’t stealth in, do their damage, then use it to escape. Likewise, normally sentries will see through stealth because they’re meant to be safe positions that prevent early game rushes… but of course, early game rushes is exactly what Incursion is right now, so I guess it makes sense Pendles wouldn’t be balanced that way either. :stuck_out_tongue:
