He’s good at… body blocking, I guess? I only seriously play three characters nowadays (Mell, Ambra, and Shayne), and for me, even good Kelvins seem to be just kinda… there. Sublimate was scary pre-nerf, but other than that, not sure what he’s supposed to do that Boldur can’t do better. His health pool is potentially big, but Boldur’s effective health pool with shield healing is much deeper. And he’s a much much bigger target than Boldur.
I want to say that kelvins strengths verses boldur are that kelvin does get more health a better group stun and probably more damage via chomp. He does also probably trap people the best with bodyblocking, his alt melee and his wall.
Besides boldur is busted anyway
Counterintuitively, you have to play Kelvin as a get in / get out hit and run assassin using his sublimate.
Finally another Shayne and aurox player😃
I love Shayne & Aurox, although I rsreky use Fetch I love everything else about them!
Fetch is life, it’s one of my favorite skills in the game. An attack + self-“heal” + escape move + CC all in one.
As for assassin Kelvin, how does he get in and out with sublimate? Surely he can do one or the other, but not both…
I love s&a tankines !! Shield+shield+ dmg reduction= can you touch my hp? None use shield pen unless wiskey lvl 10 and probably 1 om.
I only wish fetch worked properly… And her ult wasnt so weak, actually fetch is oky but the ult is just painfull…

But yeah it’s really tricky to use your sublimate as an engage but I played against a rather good kelvin today and that dude knew when to sub in pretty well
Ok, usually more “get out” but I believe he has a Helix that reduces cooldown on Sublimate but he is also tanky enough to sublimate in, do damage and fight until sublimate cools down to use again.
Reduced cooldown gear helps with this also.
In beta, sicem aurox was a viable choice, if fetch gets a 15%damage buff I LL get that helix choice 50 percent of the time
I hate to be skeptical, but I just can’t wrap my head around this “assassin Kelvin” strategy working against an even-slightly coordinated team, haha. Every time I’ve played against a Kelvin who engages with Sublimate and then goes behind our front-line, they’re basically feeding - his big body makes it really easy to spot, trap and CC him, unlike the slippery Mellkas, Deandes, and Pendles that are able to hit behind frontlines and then get away. And his stun is one second long, and Chomp isn’t going to 100-0 to anyone. I just can’t see it.
I believe you guys have done it, but I just can’t envision any Kelvin trying that on me and getting away with it… Maybe with crazy legendaries. (I don’t PVE, so I rarely get to see them)
Oh, you don’t want to go in alone.
I try to always be fighting group battles as Kelvin.
I just try to appear in the middle of them as a surprise.
Wouldn’t it be better to be a specialized burst damage character in that scenario though? If I had a Kelvin on my team, and that Kelvin was doing opportunistic assassin strikes instead of pushing the sentry/wave… I would not be feeling the Kelvin love.
And I think having unorthodox fun is the best way to enjoy the game at this stage! It just seems to me that the tactic of leaping into a group battle, securing a kill, and then getting away is surely something any BB with a decent escape can do, haha… it doesn’t seem very specifically Kelvin. I mean, you could exactly say the same thing about playing Attikus (lots of health, run into battle, get the kill, pounce out.) Or about playing Shayne (lots of shield, run into battle, get the kill, stealth out.) Or more generally, about Pendles, or… (okay you get the point)
I’m sure Kelvin can be tons of fun though. I mean, I’m still playing Mell despite all the nerfs, even though someone could make a decent argument for Caldy being a safer pick now.
If you ever branch into Kleese I could let you know some interesting mechanics I’ve discovered.
I tried to max out the CC protection. It backfired. I’ll have to look at the numbers again…I could’ve sworn I got it up to 90%. Anyway, it had the reverse effect. Getting a CC effect applied onto Pendles would make it permanent. Infinite stuns and slows made my Pendles useless for the rest of that match.
I still think Pendles is insanely balanced. He always has been
The feeling of paranoia when you’re up against a good Pendles is both exhilarating and frustrating at the same time. It’s like Predator all over again.
Wait really? Interesting
