Going for the pet!
not anymore lol. Old poll did favor FL4K, but now its almost half the people are picking FL4K and the other 3 are pretty even.
I was on the fence whether I should go for Moze or Zane, but I ended up going for Zane.
His skills makes him look like a mix between Wilhelm and Athena, two of my favorite characters in TPS, and he seems to be pretty good with assault rifles, which are my favorite weapons.
Their skill tree. Weapons with them. FL4K goes by “they/them” pronouns. Just a heads up. Lot of people getting that wrong.
BACK ON TOPIC! I kinda expected the results to be similar to the previous poll. FL4K has just garnered so much love and I can’t blame them. I’m still leaning towards Amara simply for her personality, but I suspect that I’ll change my mind when I get the game in my hands and give myself a bit more time to mull over their personalities.
I would pick Moze, but, while her trailer was great, she seems fairly standard soldier protagonist in many ways. Fun, but a stoic soldier. Zane is a tad zaney and I imagine keeping his kill skills active won’t be too hard once I get the hang of things. FL4K looks amazing and I love them, but they look like the character that’ll have the easiest time cheesing through the game (a temptation I’m not sure I need right off the bat) so I’m hesitant to pick them first. Amara just speaks to me. She is cool. She can be funny. She is fierce. She is a Siren. IDK. Amara for now, but perhaps things will change.
why would I play as Fl4k, judging from votepool Fl4k is gonna be most played VH so I am bound to see them anyway.
besides I am already gonna play Moze, and judging from game´s size, I am gonna play her a long time
I will play all 4 of them anyway, so my “first” will be decided at random. Dice of destiny, I summon thee!
My gut instinct is that Fl4k would be perfect and that’s why I’m “undecided” as I fear that they are too much of a one-note-character. I love the cut and dry way their german voice is and how they are basically just mumbling for the sake of hunter’s narration, but I decided to let my first Vault Hunter be chosen at random.

I would imagine that those people you have offended probably felt similarly when you insulted their very existence, by insinuating that they are not valid. The proper pronouns of someone is important whether they are fictitious or not. You wouldn’t refer to Arnold’s T-800 Terminator by she/her pronouns, would you? You wouldn’t refer to Amara as “he”, would you? So what is so hard about acknowledging and properly gendering FL4K?
If being kind and considerate to your fellows is something that you can’t tolerate then the problem might not be with the forums. This stuff is important even if you don’t view it as such. All I saw was a moderator attempting to enforce the forum rules with patience and facts.
ON THE TOPIC OF CHARACTERS TO PLAY FIRST: I feel that Amara and FL4K are tied for first with me. I’ll wait to play Zane until I find a nice transfusion grenade to start with that I can transfer to him at varying levels since my planned build lacks much healing. I’m basically waiting to see the unique things Amara and FL4K get like their personality, reactions to things, and (COUGH possible spoilers) their personal room on the ship.
If I ever somehow get a copy, it’ll stil be FL4K. They interest me the most. Zane would be second.
FL4K first, Zane second, Amara 3rd and Moze last.
Moze, FL4K, then Zane or Amara… might just flip a coin with those two.
“Siren. Dibs. My Siren’s name is Brick, and she is the prettiest.”
I main Athena in TPS. Her Ceraunic Storm Tree is awesome with the Celestial Gladiator class mod.
I shall forever be a Zane main. But then our lovely and bodacious siren Amara. Then tank girl Moze with her mech. And then finally, the bot with the badass beasts, FL4K.
I’m a little torn between Zane and Fl4k, but right now Fl4k has me ecstatic! Nice combination of damage boosts, healing boosts, some damage mitigation, and the ■■■■■■■ permanent pet! That and the Hunter Skill builds have me super giddy. Granted, a bunch of kill skills aren’t the most efficient, but god dammit, I want to be an intergalactic hunter!
It will be Zane for me. Love that he can use two action skills and how his skills synergies! But he still feels a bit underpowered…
In the thick of it, he probably is, but he’s got tricks to get out of the way if you find yourself piled on.
That’s the beauty of Zane’s character, and why I think he’s awesome. Compared to the abilities of his companions, his own skills seem underwhelming. FL4K is robot that can summon mighty beasts for pets, Moze is a soldier that can digistruct a giant robot mech, and Amara is a superhero with super powers. Why I think Zane is awesome, he’s still just as dangerous as the rest, possibly even more so. The idea behind Zane, what one man can do with the right set of skills, tools, and motivations. His playstyle is meant to be multiple skills working in tandem, essentially multitasking your resources, and applying them where you think necessary. It’s on the fly strategy, something that makes him very powerful, and very dangerous if you underestimate him.
Well, the fact is, using “he” or “man” has long been used as a neutral in English; it IS inclusive, not exclusive (as defined by context).
What has basically happened is that (some parts of) society has invented another way of being gender-neutral by adopting “their” to refer to entities without referring the sexual status or orientation. For some of us this grates on our sense of proper usage as it’s a plural term being used for a singular entity.
Which isn’t to say it is fundamentally wrong; it isn’t. Word meaning is defined by usage, not rules, there is no “cast in stone” way of speaking any language.
My personal problem isn’t so much with changing my habits as it is with catering to a belief that we need to be ultra-scrupulous in how we speak. While I fully support accepting all humans in the condition they define themselves without bias, trying to please those that are simply looking to be offended at every turn isn’t healthy for our society, and ultimately leads to more of a sense of division amongst various groups. It fosters MORE of an “us vs. them” mentality than it promotes inclusivity.
I’ll refer to FL4K using “their” myself; I’m doing my best to accept the change in English despite having 60+ years of speaking in a way that has been correct for thousands of years. I just hope that anyone that might be offended by the use of “he” will try to understand that it isn’t an exclusive term, and work not to be offended unless obvious derogatory meaning is present in the language of the speaker. I’d also ask anyone resistant to using “their” instead of “he” to accept that our language can and will change and any rule we lived by isn’t immutable, and to make sure there is no personal bias actually present in their beliefs. Refusing to change the way you speak because you DON’T want to be inclusive isn’t going to help us all get along better in the long run.
Probably gonna play Fl4k first, i play a lot of solo, as well as co op and perma pets he seems like a great choice for some solo play. Im hoping his customisation is really good. He has a lot of potential to look awesome in different colours and materials and outfits etc.
Moze will be my second character shes just awesome looking design wise, and has a mech. win win.
