I hope you guys release a demo of this hint hint.
Yeah a beta/campaign demo would be awesome.
Ah the good old days when Computer & Video Games magazine hit the shelves with a disc full of demoās. Iām happy to wait, adds to the child-in-me-excitement. But an exclusive pre-launch disc would be niceā¦cough cough
Yeah, and demos hidden on other games accessible only by complicated button inputs.
All the Spyro games had Crash demos, and I would have never discovered Sly Cooper had I not accidentally held down r1/r2 and L1/L2 on Ratchet and Clank 3 which lead to an awesome demo that had the tutorial AND 3 missions.
Ohh, man, I miss the good old days of video games, where entering the right button combination got you cool stuff. Spyro games where you could change the color of Spyroās scales, Legacy of Kain: Defiance with the chibi mode, wire frame mode, and my favorite, the cardboard tube reaver.
Ahh, yes⦠the days of big head mode and the Konami Code. I miss in-game codes. Nowadays if you want something cool you have to download it.
Katniss Everdeen. Sorry, Thorn.
Oscar Mike or Mantanna. Probably Oscar Mike. This game looks so cool. Finally something great to look forward to playing.
OOOOOOOHHHHHHH Like this, bit Disney in aesthetic sensibilities, but thatās neither here norā¦looks like excellent play.( Itās fun 4 the whole family Jack) Seriously Iām looking forward to this, good games are very rare, and there is no more an enjoyable media experience 4 me than a good game.
Iām thinking Rath is my style. Up close in-your-face melee playstyle with goddamn laser swords, and he looks cool as f***. Now, unless Prince Vultan or CSSST are in the game, Iām gonna be Rath.
This week, Iāve been on a Miko kick again. Iām usually a run in and blow up aggro player, but Iām really digging Mikoās support-style. Very active gameplay (and Iāve dungeon healed in WoW!). Plus, that 'shroomās got some teeth. Miko is surprisingly good at killing melee characters like Rath.
Letās just sayā¦Stun Spore FTW.
Evolve has been criticized because of the balance issue (and the lack of single player mode) between the characters.
Iām curious to know how Gearbox will avoid this pitfall with so many protagonists.
Balance is Hardā¢. Like super-duper capitol āHā hard. I could tell you all of the things we do internally to try and be sure the game is balanced, both involving playtesting and hard-core stat tracking and number crunching.
That said, itās hard.
I expect no matter the amount of testing and statistics we employ, there will always be balance to be done.
We certainly plan to continue tracking through live development and hope to patch rather aggressively to handle balance concerns.
Also - Evolve lacked a single-player mode?? Then what was that I played?? I sure played by myself with a team of AI around me. Sure felt like single-player mode. Even had a bit of a campaign.
@Jythri I can imagine that balancing a game with all those different character abilities can be hard. With BL1 the skills work great on PvE but during PvP some things where OP from what i have heard. But thatās just another life lesson that helps us grow and make more awesome stuff in the future.
About Evolve: They are crunching some numbers at turtle rock studios and making sure the balance is almost even. I found one thing interesting during one of their live streams. instead of increasing the damage of an attack or ability, they sometimes increase the hitbox. Making it a little easier to land that hit instead of upping the damage output. #DevTricks
I think what @HanzoHasashi means that Evolve does not have an epic single player mode like a Borderlands. Itās more a multiplayer mode made possible offline.
I guess we can ask what focus does Battleborn have. Some games focus on Single player only others do Multiplayer only. Will the Battleborn co-op campaign be as large as Borderlands or will it be more like a Call of Duty where you can run through in a āfewā hours and spend most of your time in the Multiplayer mode.
BTW i Heard the director of Kick-Ass wants to do a reboot of Flash Gordon Movie and here is some more HAWKMAN
(image taken from a battleborn screenshot)

IMO, Evolveās ācampaign modeā was way too short. The plot was just āMonsters kill colonists, so we, hunters, have to kill them.ā Of course, it might be subjective from me.
I donāt necessarily ask for a Mass Effect-like story though (even if I love Mass Effect).
Nice pic. ![]()
Understamebt of the year. If you were duelling Lilith or Mordecai you were screwed, a Bloodwing build would one-shot you, and Lilith could go invincible/invisible and get behind you.
Roland and Brick never stood a chance.
Well, in this case, playing against bots in UT is considered a SP mode but you would have to be reaching at that point.
Hopefully, Battleborn does more interesting things than what Titanfall and Evolve did in regards to SP.
On where weāre focusing:
@mentalmars I think we always wanted to put more focus on PvP in Borderlands, but yeahā¦dueling could be pretty broken. Even in BL2, vs Maya or Zero you were usually toast. (Phase Lockā¦DEAD).
Battleborn IS a different creature. Weāre putting large efforts behind both competitive AND campaign, so Iām hoping neither will like second-string when you play them. Different experiences, right?
On balance, though, we always start with the competitive game for balance. Battleborn is definitely a bit more rock, paper, scissors by design. We have Offense, Defense, and Specialist characters. We have some characters that are much stronger against specific other characters, and weak against others. But ALL characters have something they excel at. Most characters are good at a couple of things. And yeahā¦you can do some customizing yourself to help suit your playstyle.
BTW- the āBalance Tricksā box is actually QUITE diverse, and is rarely just tweaking a single number. Iām sure most PvP games uses a lot of knobs as well. Daily, we consider such things as move speed, how high can a character get (notice, I didnāt just say jump height), size (Montana vs Miko is pretty staggeringly different with hitboxes), health REGEN, amount of CC available in their skills, ranges, fire rates, difficulty to aim, AoE vs not, and a bunch of other knobs and dials.
We have an internal tool that lets us view games statistically, both real-time and in Big Crunchy Database flavor. Weāre looking at the game through a lot of lenses. Weāre playing it daily to be sure we also take into account subjectively what it FEELS like. We yell at each other down the hall when we play. Itās all good times.
I already have THAT GUY playing THAT CHARACTER I canāt stand. I love the guy, I love the characterā¦but geesh. Heās good. Iām average. It hurts! Make it stop! THAT CHARACTER gets a nerf this Monday. I canāt wait to try it out.
By the way, excellent pic of CSSSSSST. I didnāt know weād released that one yet!
I believe we are! Weāre trying to be sure that the Campaign is awesome. This universe - where only one star is left- is an incredibly rich place to explore. Weāre treating each of our characters with the same love as as most other games focus just on their main character. So, Iām hoping this experience is going to give you something different, and will let you fall in love with the characters and the setting as we have.
I agree Battlebornās lore looks interesting. Iām particularly intrigued by the factions and their relationships.
Drugs confirmed.
