I can land the scrap cannon from mid range, given that you only need to barely scrape a person for the damage increase to apply. Also with the increased flak range at level 7(?) you can hit it from long range. That being said, learning to adjust and aim well while explosions are going off right and left is essential to playing WF.

Anyways, I think his damage numbers really do tell it all. Even a 10% buff to his damage would be insane as with his passive enabled his DPS would be 210 at level 1. If you look at it one way, playing WF is easy: all you have to do is land your bullets and your skills (of course, far easier said than done).

Whiskey Foxtrot is a little weird, I’ve been able to lock down lanes by myself with my build.

H1: Flak Off (Knockback with Scrap Cannon)

H2: Scrap Bank (Up to 3 charges on Scrap Cannon)

H3: Scoped Up (I get a recon scope, and my aim improves drastically)

H4: Stick ā€˜N’ Sap (Stickies drain shields and health when stuck to an enemy before exploding)

H5: Killer Regen (+220 hp over 10 seconds after a kill.)

H6: Napalm (Creates a fire AOE on the ground where a sticky detonates)

H7: Shield Pen (+25% shield penetration for tactical rifle)

H8: Spread Shot/Long-Distance Flak (This is dependant on how many melee characters the enemy is using. 3+ means I use Spread for a shotgun effect when they get in range I use distance otherwise so I’m in less danger when I use the flak shot)

H9: Stronger Stickies (Increases Sticky damage, because cooldowns don’t much bother me.)

H10: What shields? (ult bypasses shields entirely, that way I don’t waste my entire clip busting shields)

After I hit level 4, the only people who come to fight me are snipers.

I literally take the opposite upgrade on the first 4… Slow nades give him tons of options, you can help teammates, capitalize on stuns more, and I don’t really find knockback that useful since his melee has it built in and does almost as much as his scrap…
Three charges on scrap is nowhere near as useful IMO as increased damage, and the reveal is nasty on S&A or OM.
I can’t stand the recon scope, it kicks way too much by default, and since I build 3 Attack Speed items on him, I’d rather get in close and just unload…
Three stickies all the way, you can blanket the wave, put three onto someone once they’re slowed, I really like Mirv on here too, but I haven’t unlocked it again yet.

And why do people buy shield pen? I guess I don’t get it, you’re dealing the same DPS, it’s just going to get you %25 more on someone who you don’t get through the shield of… so a 300 shield (almost all characters), means the most you can possibly deal before you would have caught up with how much you’d do anyway is 75 points of damage… So unless I’m up against a good Kleese, Isic or Reyna, I never bother with it… The 4 rounds adds extra DPS.

And I have rarely taken What Shields, for the same reasons listed with pen above… you get more damage overall out of 100 rounds, and the shields I normally bust with it are on the sentry, if I’m ulting anyone else, they’re usually in a fight already with no shields.

Wow 0_0…

Shield pen is slightly more situational…but those characters you mentioned are popular aside from Kleese (atm atleast) of course you cant forget Boldur Galilea and Ambra (Flame Shield)…all strong characters.
