Why do very few people play boldur?

3 clips isn’t enough it blocks 2k

Very true all my gear for him provides attack speed and it stacks to 20% along with rages attack speed increase he becomes a powerhouse.

Also you don’t wanna ignore boldur. If he gets his late game you will have hell to pay, because axe mastery makes his dps reach insane levels

Cause he’s a tad bit harder to use or people just don’t like to tank. Also he’s a slow starter and doesn’t pick up speed until 5.

That’s reasons I’ve heard and see.

But me, well I’ve got about 106 PVP matches with him and 1,000 kills I believe so its safe to say I use him often.

Ive started playing with him and he’s fun I’ve got 14 matches and 114 kills so I’m on a good run with him so far

I must not play against good Boldurs :stuck_out_tongue:

If I’m Shayne, I peel him off my teammates so they can wipe Boldurs team. If I’m not Shayne, I ignore him easily and kill his team :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, good ones will protect their team and you can’t ignore them.
A good Boldurdash on an enemy followed by a slowing axe throw and body blocking wounded allies makes him hard to ignore.

I do really well with Boldur and he’s quite capable even without a dedicated support especially after Lvl 5. He gets some impressive burst damage from his axe Rune and also has access to a single target hard stun at Lvl 1. His melee attacks become increasingly powerful too if you build/gear for it so he can chew through a lot of stuff.

He has a patient playstyle though and has a high difficulty level in using correctly which is why you don’t see many. I’m often deliberately provoking 3 vs 1s to advance the lane, protect backline teammates, or to distract people out of position. I’m contemplating doing a video guide for him because he can absolutely swing a match mid/End game.

Pro tip to people complaining about his attack speed: You can cancel back into his axe loop ā€œpokeā€ attack by holding the block button as you attack. It’s really easy to line up crits on stunned enemy / thralls this way.

My attack speed gear and other gear stack well so my attack speed with him is actually really good

I did a 3v1 just yesterday with boldur on incursion. I was able to sustain long enough to where my teammates took out the thumper, turret, and flank them for the power play. I got 2/3 kills and I believe the team surrendered soon after.

So focused on taking me out that they forgot about the others lol

In my previous match I got 20 kills because people would charge at me one at a time and I would boldurdash them into a corner and beat them down. I got three people messaging me saying boldur is broken and needs no skill lol

Boldur is good, he’s just…
Sooooooo boring 1-4.

Easily the biggest slog from 1-4 on any battleborn I’ve played.
There could be worse, I haven’t played them all.
After he hits 5, he’s fine.

He does what he does very well (soak damage).
He does not give any thrill to dispatching enemies early on.

Yea I got a few of those lol. One guy said I hope you burn in hell or something like that after an 19-1.

Yeah it seems people don’t realize boldurs terrifying end game

I love Boldur. Unfortunately I keep overextending with him, get caught without support, and consequently murderered. I realize that knowing my weakness should make it easier to correct it, but damn I love him too much (and dwarves in general) to not want to go in, axe/fist swinging.

How I spend Boldur lvls 1-4 largely depend on how my team is doing. I do mental checks like this:

  • Has my team pushed the enemy back to their first sentry? Focus on Sharding/Gearing Legendaries and killing Thralls (you can solo the single Thrall as early as Lvl 1 and the duo Thralls as early as Lvl 2).

  • Is my team pushed back against our first sentry? Stay in lane, harass, protect, throw out your stun, try to provoke 3 v 1, turtle, focus down advancing minions, and pick up Shards when possible.

  • Closer match where a lot of combat happening in the mid zone? Stay in lane incorporating strategies listed above but knowing when to teleport back to full heal, kill the Thrall if spawned, spend shards on Bots / Turrets as necessary.

So really it’s only boring because you’ll be turtling a lot waiting for opportunities and protecting. That’s Boldurs playstyle though so you either love it or hate it.

I don’t like his look. A bumpkin dwarf fighter doesn’t appeal. Hopefully a skin with old school plate armor will be made  )

I love when people think ignoring Boldur is how you deal with him, that’s how I get most of my kills as him. Anybody who dares try to ignore me and go for my teammates gets a boldurdash in the face into a wall, melted, and taunted.

Sounds like you found your battleborn.

But the reason not everyone plays him is the same reason not everyone plays Whiskey Foxtrot, or even Reyna. Each character plays differently, and there is a character for every play style.

Too bad 2k doesn’t market that part. If they did, BB would be a top seller.

Part of it is probably people just not digging his design or voice, I know he kind of annoys me. Another part is he really seems like a character that is tough to play well. I know when I have a Boldur on my team it’s a 50-50 proposition whether the Boldur will be a help or a detriment to the team. A person who doesn’t know how to play Boldur can be a real drag on the team.
