Why is the respawn time not yet reduced

Now, see, THIS i agree with to a degree. I’d say START OUT by having a low, static respawn time (say, 10-15 seconds?); then remove it entirely if it doesn’t even out matches.

As it currently stands, i agree that 30+ seconds post level 5 or 6 is absolutely ridiculous, because if one team manages to completely wipe out the other based on having a better FIGHTING team over a better CAPTURING team (Pendles, S&A, Deande, Ambra, etc.), then they can take all three objectives and easily gain too high of an advantage before the other team respawns.

Nope. That removes meaning from deaths. It’s supposed to scale as you become stronger, because killing someone strong should be a noticeable effort to engage in. This would hurt the game. If one goes and plays a game like Smite or Paragon… well, times in this game felt so short, it was fun

The respawn wait only seems long and boring when you’re the one waiting. When it’s the other team, it never seems long enough.

And yes, Balance does equal fun. Or should we give Galilea all her toys back?

She cant play in draft! I ban her every single time.

TBH, this sounds like something of a complaint from someone who plays more fast-paced games. Given the fact that Incursion games, I dunno about the others because I don’t play them, you get a half an hour timer, the games are not meant to be fast paced. Again, all games are supposed to reward skill and punish lack of skill. If there’s something wrong with the respawn timer, then one might be spending too much time watching it and should get better at recognizing when to leave battle instead of chasing people down into enemy territory for one insignificant kill (Or whatever is being done that results in the death)

I played the Last of Us HEAVILY before Battleborn, in fact Battleborn was what allowed me to finally put down The Last of Us Multiplayer. If there’s no punishment for dying then there is no improvement of the player, everyone would pick all the broken characters with no fear of dying. There would be no reason for medics because you die and respawn with the press of a button like in CoD and you don’t have a MOBA you have an FPS.

I check the score board when I die and have to wait. One minute of wait time is not bad at all. I can look at my phone and reply to some messages or browse through the forum.

Why I don’t play draft.

Why draft doesn’t actually test who needs nerfed, just who people don’t like.

Our usual bans: orendi and galilea.

Both are above avarage characters.

Not getting off topic.

Everytime a nerf happens a new character will be the best, will be the new above average.

Apologies, but I will never agree.

Sorry to OP and Mods.

I’ll be good.

When playing Incursion the first long wait times come from the first sentry dying.

This is a MOBA-esque game. 60 Second respawn timer is nothing in the world of MOBA’s. Some games you have to wait 120 seconds and more.

The long respawn delay is there to punish players who die a lot (over-extending, getting greedy etc.), and reward those who play it safe.

While I’ve gotten used to them at this point, I totally understand the OP’s frustration as it’s something I felt during the early days when I thought waiting a whole minute to respawn was ridiculous (I wasn’t familiar with MOBAs prior to Battleborn).

Reducing the timers for Incursion really isn’t an option (they’re so much shorter in Meltdown and Capture), but I can agree that having something to do would be nice, even if it was just playing cards with Nova.

@RayLightning the problem is I shouldn’t look for alternative things to while playing the game, that’s ridiculous

But you’d negate the value of killing the opponent by drastically shortening respawn timers

I didn’t read through everything so I apologize if this was already said. I think increasingly longer respawn times are vital to Incursion and Meltdown, but there should be a consistent short respawn in Capture and Face Off. As fun as it would be to be able to get back out there quickly in Incursion or Meltdown, it would quickly lose its fun having enemies revive to quickly and result in many more stalemates.

What about simply reducing the respawn timer algorithm metric like the title of this thread suggests? Instead of waiting, say, 1.5 minutes at max, maybe the maximum respawn wait time could be 45 seconds and the algorithm could adjust other wait times based on this new maximum?

I agree that there needs to be a respawn timer of some sort, but I also agree with OP that it can get to the point where it’s so long that it’s easy to disengage from the match.

I take it your one of the people who doesn’t communicate with your team? You should be observing your team, calling out what you see and help from the grave. You should be telling your team how you died and what needs to be done for them to survive. All these other multiplayer games are not the same genre clearly, this is nothing new. Dying is supposed to be a punishment, this is not call of duty. At most I believe it’s 60 seconds? If this is enough to disengage you from a game your playing the wrong game.

There absolutely is something to do while you’re waiting to come back. Cycle through the cameras, see what’s going on out there, so you’ll know where your team needs you / what they will need you to do when you respawn

lel I do communicate with my team when I play with friends but it doesn’t take me one minute, even half a minute to say “I ■■■■■■ up” and how am I playing it wrong?. I’m basically doing this https://cdn.meme.am/cache/images/folder364/14623364.jpg for more than 30 seconds, that’s boring. At no point should a video game disengage you long enough to use the bathroom, this is why recore flopped because waiting is just boring. You can give all the reasons for it helping the losing team but at the end of the day it’s just boring

why would I watch other people play a video game when I’m playing a video game? It feels like a drawn out punishment more than a tactical advantage
