Thinking this is still broken? I tried slaughter shaft last night and I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between having the barrier and not. Kept getting downed repeatedly.
Just as an additional data point, Barrier is working fine for me on PlayStation.
Every great now and again, while in the Slaughter Shaft, I will have something just nuke me and either one shot me or healthgate me thru Barrier…can’t ever make out what it is though…otherwise fine…
The barrier is bugged and certain enemies, COV zealots, with certain guns (COV/Vladof rifles mostly) can bypass the barrier. I’ve submitted a ticket and they are looking into the issue. Didn’t make it in for this week, so I hope it comes next week.
I’m starting to carry a Scourge and sniper (maybe I’ll try the buffed Woodblocker, ha) to deal with those zealots from a distance. Find some cover, drop the barrier for the amp and hope I can kill them faster than they kill me. The fight at Reliance was a pain in the arse, let me tell you. If I can’t deal with them at a distance, I’ll fast travel or restart the session and hope I get better RNG on enemies.
I also seem to have an issue with grabbing the barrier. A couple weeks ago, I could pop it, and pick it up almost immediately. Lately, I have to wait a second or more, and even then, I might have to try to pick it up a couple of times. It’s like the button press isn’t registering. Not sure if it’s real or imagined. Anyone else experience issues trying to pick up their barrier, recently?
The Wedding Invitation is great for handling them at a distance as well.
I’ve only recently switched from clone to barrier, but I did notice it isn’t as quick and intuitive picking up the barrier as I had expected. It does take a few seconds. Usually I’ll throw the barrier, then the drone, and I can grab it by the time the drone is deployed.
Wedding Invite is wonderful. I have a +100% cryo while SNTL is up, anoint.
I’m trying different techniques to see if something changed or if it’s me. Friends have said it seems harder to pick up the barrier, as well. Going barrier then SNTL seems faster than SNTL to barrier, for some reason.
Maybe there’s an animation timer I’m not noticing. I don’t know how I’ll deal with multiple COV zealots in close quarters if the barrier isn’t fixed soon. I gave up Deterrence Field for more damage, so I know I’m feeling that loss.
I just played a first round through the takedown since the hotfix, m4 “true takedown” with my standard CCC-barrier Zane and the Barrier was almost useless. There used to be some rounds at this level through the takedown where I could manage to take almost no damage at all because the barrier and Seein’ Dead would manage it all. Now it seems to break against any little thing that comes near. Mayhem mods were neutral: +20%shield, melee, granade damage/Enemies are more accurate. Transformer Shield. Anyone else feeling the barrier is less effective in the past couple days? Or was it just the sheer number of enemies and incoming damage doing me in. Cheers!

I know that Tink turrets keep breaking through my barrier as do rocket launchers, sometimes. That’s why I sometimes just set down the barrier and use the seemingly bigger radius to my advantage. Very rarely do I get hit if I just deploy the barrier, but when I have it with me, then splash damage projectiles hit me right through it every now and then.
I also learned to prioritize every type of enemy that has any sort of beam as those phase through the barrier basically all the time. That’s why I take down the sphere enemies in the Takedown before progressing any further. And then there are the grenade showers that tinks throw after you. Those obviously go through the barrier and worse even, they can healthgate with 1 hit and can kill with any subsequential hit if you’re unlucky. My guess is that the time window for healthgate protection is just too short in this game. BL1, 2 and TPS had probably over 0,3 seconds of invulnerability where this time it feels like 0,2 seconds at most. But that’s just a gut feeling I have.
It annoys me far more that the Barrier still just instantly dies whenever it touches electrocuted ground. Makes a certain boss way more annoying than he should be.
I have played Zane for about 1 day using Seeing Dead (no bragging rights, but was super fun and efficient). Already soloed M4 Wotan. Has the speed necessary to avoid bombardment…
The 2 things you mention are normal behavior that is expected. Splash damage is large enough to hit behind the Barrier when held especially if it hits the ground or an object. And beam’s are not projectiles the Barrier only blocks projectiles.
Naw it’s not doing that in the Killavolt arena it falls through the floor. Throw in on a chest to get around that.
I’m trying a new CCC build with high cryo weapons and Seein’ Dead. Basically gave up a lot the extended duration for the hope that I can freeze enemies fast enough. So far it’s been performing as well as my previous build. Less damage, but more survivable with the stun on the shield. Making tweaks, so I’ll probably break something.
What I noticed is before I would toss the barrier, take a step back to pick it up. Now, I don’t seem to need to take that step back. Maybe I’m not getting a movement boost that I was used to getting, so I’m no longer overshooting my barrier.
The vertical range seems to be greater, if the horizontal range is less. For example, farming Borman Nates, I jumped on top of the lift from the back, dropped my barrier and it fell between the lift and the first “bridge” level. I thought I’d have to jump down and get it, but I was able to pick it up from the ground in front of the lift, while on top of the lift.
@narfkeks You can also throw it against the wall of the arena, and it will fall to the floor, not through it. My first fight against KV on M4 was a nightmare because I didn’t know how to keep my barrier. And I didn’t think to just swap out for my clone. That was a 20+ min fight I never want to repeat.
Completed Slaughter Shaft, that was very painful. The broken zealots pretty much meant starting the round over, especially when pinned between two. But I got through it and I can’t wait for our barrier to get fixed. What a miserable experience. And I was so glad to be done, I left without opening the chest. Ugg.
Cryo Lob with 100% cryo freezes almost every thing it touches. The thing is nuts. CCC just doesnt work well for bossing but any of the slaughters (star is a bit rough for the bosses) and trials it melts (ha pun) through.
I think mine is only 60%, maybe 80, but I’m running ice breaker with additional freeze chance to it’s effectively 100. I also have a lvl 50 cryo redistributor that I still use at 53, because it just freezes stuff like nothing.
I’ve gone back to my Deterrence field, because I can slam into faster targets, like anointed, and stun them a bit to get the lob off. Between those two weapons, I can keep my barrier up through an entire round (except when a zealot drops me to FFYL in .24 seconds).
On the trials it is amazing. I was running the one with the tinks with two friends and they had stopped to loot up after the first section. I was already half-way through the first wave of the next section before I noticed they weren’t with me. They were like “Hey, did you start the next section already? We’re still looting.” I didn’t even notice I was solo! I know it’s getting nerfed, but I’m loving it in the mean while.
Any base damage element + SNTL Cryo freezes everything it touches. I used this concept to cover the Lobs weakness at re-proccing action skills with Seein Dead to take CCC and keep them up indefinitely very easy.
