theres a major contradiction here with recent comments. that, and a sign of some inexperience at high level play. where exactly is montana getting sniped from? the perch? not if you have a melka, caldi, whiskey, any melee in the game, benedict, etc. A good team protects the tank while the tank pushes the minions. Try doing anything to him in the main lane and a good alani will not only keep him alive, but displace the lane with geysers and waves while montana gets in front of the minions and you watch your sentry plummet. Montana is very strong regardless of the format. I know some pc guys that have recently switched to the most popular and competitive format, xb1. Some of which you might know. There are a few good players, but nothing even close to what was once on xb1 back when the game had a thriving competitive scene.

I’m sure i have LEAGUES more “high level play” than you, both playing, watching, and generally being around the entire competitive scene/players since beta; especially if you think Montanna is played on PC at a high level. He’s getting sniped from Outskirts while we play in Coldsnap because thats how big of a target he is, but still maybe difficult to shoot with a xbox controller as opposed to mouse. Do you even DRAFT? He gets counter-picked to hell. A good tank protects his team, a good team protects anyone. You think ALANI will keep montanna alive in lane when a team focuses him? You know alani is the water chick right? Miko is the pocket healing mushroom, you must have gotten them mixed up. And again you use incursion as an example for “competitive” when its like the tic-tac-toe of levels.

I’m a big fan of Montana and he’s still my most played character but I have to agree with this. Without a pocket Miko he’s rough if the enemy has any sort of range. His greatest strength is his ability to turbo-gank ppl against a wall but the windup makes it easy to bait/dodge. I don’t feel he’s bad. He’s about where BB should be, there are just some characters that make his life hell.
Side note: Even when I see another Montana my first thought is that it’ll be easy XP. I find most don’t have the best survival instincts.

still an easy target with a controller. I have no trouble landing all my shots on him as a flying Mellka, so I can’t imagine anyone playing Marquis or Toby is going to have any issues.
Montana is an inferior tank from what I’ve seen on PS4. Wound brings him down fast because he’s so easy to focus fire.

Quite the big ego on this guy… assumes every opinion he spouts is the way it is, claims to know what everyone else thinks is good or bad and why the do or don’t play them (usually cause they’re bads of course) and his reasoning for his word as law is “because that mode is so easy and my mode takes skill”
well, I’ve got a bit of a newsflash for you, meltdown is just so much easier than incursion (does this make my opinion become fact?) does that make it a bad game mode? no, neither are bad game modes. you can pick whoever you want on meltdown and tear up the lane (as long as your not in one of those newbies vs 105’s matches) whereas incursion you actually need team comp. Meltdown you can go without a support just fine. Incursion you have no such luck and will be extremely punished for it. there are many more examples, but I’ll leave it at that.
Mellka and caldy are not considered bad on console (and this is coming from xb1 player here) mellka has crazy survivabilty and and caldy is pretty much the most mobile character in the game, who, with his precision accuracy and almost no recoil, is honestly almost more of an assassin then mellka is! (Mellka could miss the broadside of the barn if the broadside of a barn was 3 inches from her nose with her spray pattern -_-, and this is from someone who much enjoys playing mellka)
I also find it funny people keep making baseless posts and when hockey responds they flag his posts when there’s nothing wrong with them. things are getting pretty petty in this thread.
Edit: Montana isn’t used because he is “easy mode console aim” he’s used because he is a good tank with a plethora of CC options and DR available to him with slows/knockback/stun/mansformation, with equally skilled teams, focusing the tank is usually a bad way to go about things. as for the “he is impossible to miss” factor, most tanks are. hell, most characters in general are. look at attikus who has none of the DR but is as big as a house.

You know that ain’t true
But who knows. Maybe it’s easier on console than PC, never played on console. It’s basically hard to prove the point when there isn’t any solid evidence like official tournaments gameplay or something like that. Everyone bases their info off of pubs/private matches/ or just basically what they see so it’s kinda hard to tell someone what mode may be a better classification of skill than the other.
If only there was cross platform tournaments!

split fights are incredibly less pressure. you can go dive as phoebe, shayne, caldy, mellka, really almost anyone and regardless of the results 9 times out of ten you won’t even have to leave lane. if you killed them, you’re all set, your lane is clear and you’ll be scoring points. if you’re injured, you have a heal station right at the start of the lane, and another right behind your lane under the cover of the accelerator and thumper. this is assuming you’re a character with no lifesteal/selfheal/regen and even need to retreat to recover at all. If you make them call people out of the other lane to help against you, it’s usually either a net gain or evened out, as you might end up dying (or not) but the other lane is left more open to score in during that time, and if you escape and then also get help from your team, you’ve come out ahead, even if only slightly.

Not to mean this in a way that gets people upset but it’s really not like that at all. If you play without drafting (which this can apply to any mode) you can just pick all the steam rolling characters and do what you implied but if you add drafting to that aspect it makes it more competitive.
9 times out of 10 if someone did dive in a lane like you implied they would easily die or would have accomplished nothing. If they did die that would give the other team an easy advantage to score their minions- also depends on who is on the lane as well. There is a lot of strategy you can do too, it’s not really that easy as you stated unless you faced really easy teams.
The same can be said about myself with incursion. Maybe you experienced some crazy matches and you play on a different level than what I’m used to. On incursion there is a bit of luck in there that can win you the match instantly (from my experience). I had matches in incursion that I would face a better team period, they made a mistake or maybe the sentry was mad at them but they got wiped at the end & we won since we were able to damage the sentry due to long re spawn times. In meltdown there is no luck, the better team wins period.

How is damaging a sentry due to long respawn times luck?
Someone had to get killed because they made a mistake. Just like in Meltdown if I spam minion bots and just so happen to wipe the players on one lane I get some extra lucky points. Incursion players can use the same logic against meltdown.

You can compare a fat bot to a sentry…
You can use luck as a legitimate argument…

Not sure what matches you had where a fat bot killed everyone in lane… but I’m sorry… they were really bad players.
So you are telling me you never had matches at the end where a team won by stalling purposely on incursion or by last minute lucky wipes?
Just add…
Say if you did send a fat bot in a lane and the players did die that means you provided a hard push with your teammates. The enemy can come back and score points… unless you are talking about a fat bot came in for the final point which you provided that last hard push… that’s a good game

Literally every balanced incursion match I play now ends on who wins the teamfight with 1:30 to go. The first 28:30 have absolutely no impact on the outcome. If it isn’t balanced, it’s usually over in 5-10 minutes.

No I’ve never seen a bot wipe a team but I’ve won games buy spamming bots and myself killing players at opportune times.
Just as I’ve won incursion by stalling, flanking, and wiping teams. Nothing is luck unless you are playing solo queue. That’s where luck comes into play.

for the same reason that diving an opponent in meltdown is a bad idea and never works, but incursion has no strategy. anything showing faults in the other persons opinion is bad and/or wrong, while anything (however flimsily or biased) supporting ones own opinion is naturally correct

Not sure if you fully understood the post but I basically said maybe your games play better than mine … I just mostly experienced those last min shifts.

have you ever seen the butterfly effect, or rather, know what it is in general? you can’t have that last minute shift without those same shifts happening all throughout the game. that last minute push to win is an occurrence of your team getting enough of those shifts in your favor to push the enemy team back and/or lock them in spawn by getting those picks and giving you enough time to get enough damage for that win.
meltdown is more of a balancing act, you could even make a case that getting a pick is even more important due to it having heavier weight of effect since your team is split. clearing your lane with 1-2 of your opponents in spawn is a daunting state in meltdown because you now have to split 3 people across those 2 lanes where the opponent can afford to almost double team every person you have left and push the weak lane

I use to play incursion the most when I started the game and then shifted to meltdown. Mostly when I play incursion now I am just pubbing. Yea maybe there were little shifts but people remember the end of the match instead of those lil periods. I guess I just saw it as if one team was dominating in a match they should have won it opposed to the other team winning at the last moment. Like I said in the beginning though, I like both modes but just preferred meltdown for that specific reason.
