Why the exclusive character for PS4?

That was a very good post, and if I had any Internet Points to give you I would. But that’s not the way Battleborn is going to be.

I’m ok with the whole 26th character thing, but why is Toby only available on ps4 in the beta. I just don’t see the logic behind it. Like why Toby, and why would there be less characters available for one specific platform in the beta?

Considering GW2: Maps and events is nearly the same in terms of work (And money) needed. They had to make new animations, monsters design, textures, models, voice acting, writing, etc… For some big events (Which were free)

As for Non-F2P, i gave a few example (Killing floor, Natural Selection, Red Orchestra, Insurgency, etc)
But you want the opposite? A competitive game which sold additional characters and bled his entire player base in a month or two? Evolve.
It’s a 2K game, by the way. Filled with DLCs.

DLCs is a good way to make easy money (And sustain a game, actually), but if badly done, it’s only a “quick shot” that will kill your game. (But some Publishers don’t care as long as they got the money back.)

Hm, not completely true. That’s a misconception.

Some AAA games sell more on consoles, while some others sell more on PC. It also depend on the region (USA sell more on console than Europe, generally speaking)
Also, often, a AAA game sell longer on PC than Console, and PC is more toward Digital than Physical copies (Making it impossible to resell it once you have finished it)
It’s actually hard to give a binary opinion on that, as it depend on the game, region, and system.
Battleborn might sell more on console in the US, and more on PC everywhere else. Or the other way around… or not… Or maybe…

Yeah, probably, and sadly. Because so far, 2K did stick to their DLCs view in every game they published.
Which is my worries.

Evolve isnt exactly adequate as its a very different game. I played Evolve extensively and its problem was essentially a lack of depth/modes outside of online and a frustrating experience even in its main draw Hunt mode. Playing with Randoms was unecessarily annoying and time wasting due to a NEED for full team communication to win, which console gamers dont like to be literally Forced into. DLC itself didnt have much to do with failing making a splash, as much as I wanted that game to be hype…it was sorely lacking.

Increased interest in the console port maybe?

It was a competitive multiplayer owned by 2k. Not that different.

The game was dry, and that was one of his main fault, yeah, i agree with that one.

Because you think the PvP of Battleborn is going to be different? Interesting.
(And, no, the Campaign won’t hold the game by itself.)

Part of it, did. It literally split the (small) community and destroyed any competitive gaming.
The game was average, but the DLCs killed any redemption. Even a good competitive game could be killed by the DLCs galore Evolve ended up in.

I wouldn’t mind a Battleborn character that you could either buy with real money, or grind for, though. Like R6:Siege (Which is not doing so badly as a competitive game, i might add.) But we don’t know if that will be the case yet.

There are games where drafting is important, in games like LoL it’s really important that you counterpick, and how many creeps you farm to get your items. I don’t think Battleborn is that type of game, at least I hope for it.

Why should picking a character have so much impact on the actual outcome of the game? You should be able to make up for it with skill, some mindgames and strategy. If the characters are balanced enough having one more for some players at the beginning wont hurt me. It would be pay to win if that character would be somehow better then others, or if he was a counter and you could draft-pick so you can see what your opponent takes while picking your own champ. But this game looks way faster and I feel like you should be able to just outplay characters that may be good against your own character.

I know that in high level play where everybody plays almost perfect things like what character you have are way more important, because that difference can make the game, but in my opinion the game should offer you opportunities to play even better with alot of effort. You should be able to win against a guy that is on your skill level and has a character that is good against yours, by just concentrating and by maybe just doing a better job while being in the flow.

There are also people like me who do not like thousands of skins and stuff you can pay for, I am some sort of completionist and if I like a game I really want to get everything there is in it. Having so many skins would just make me quit buying anything because there would always be another one that I want. And I wouldn’t have the money for that. I’m happy to pay for one DLC with a cool character, so that way the game may get more free updates. Free skins and earnable gear is awesome, since gear in this game seems balanced because of the disadvantages it gets you, and the ingame money it costs.

They could do it like Rainbow Six, where you just buy a Season Pass for maybe not that much of money with which you get every DLC character that comes out for free, releasing them with bigger spaces between so the game will feel fresh for a longer period of time. But buying them individually shouldn’t be that much more expensive, that would be a little compelling for a full priced game.

Also, not only characters could be in DLC, also new maps or playmodes. If they’re good designed I’m sure it would be fun. Only downside is that it could be worse then the normal playmode, and nobody would play it because it seems too complicated or not as competitive. But you would need to make sure that enough people are on these playlist, so maybe maps and gamemodes would be batter as free DLC, making the DLC characters even more appealing to support the game.

The crying here is crazy. Mobas are only popular because they are free. No way they would be as popular if each was $60 up front. There are alot of plebs in Internet land therefore there will be alot of moba fans. $5 bucks for extra optional content is very reasonable. Pay to win does not even come into play unless you are competitive and being competitive means you compete in tournys for money. Actual competitive players will make up a tiny percentage of the community because it takes alot of work to get to that point. Competitive doesn’t mean ranking up in solo queue.

This entire thread is plain dumb and pointless, because Toby was exclusive for THE BETA,not the FULL GAME.

We should have this topic closed.
