The fact that these things were included in the borderlands games and not Battleborn kind of irks me a bit. I play couch co-op with my son, and I will shell out the $20 bucks for him for the season pass, but I am not really happy about it. I always like supporting games I like, but with borderlands I never had to pay extra for the same console. I thought at first it was a new console only thing where they only allow the one purchasing the content to use it, but with the comment on OW including it is what bugs me.
What I think is funny is that couch co-op is, in most games, an afterthought if it is even included at all. Especially in PvP-focused games.
Want to play Overwatch with your friend/husband/wife/significant other? OK, go buy two copies of the game, two systems, and oh yeah, probably you wonāt be playing it in the same room unless someone is lugging over their laptop and youāre on PC.
Want to play Battleborn with the same? You only need one copy of the game, though you do need another season pass for the extra stuff. Iām not at all concerned about buying the season pass again considering the alternative, which is buying the ENTIRE GAME again.
Honestly, one of the biggest selling points for me on Battleborn vs Overwatch was that I can play it with my friend and my wife at the same time, and not need three copies of the game.
Gearbox is kinda known for their couch coop thoughā¦
I think thatās why a lot of people āhereā bought this game, because itās kind of ātheir thingāā¦
And so most players whom are familiar with how gearbox do things, are a bit shocked this time around, with the whole not sharingā¦
As I said in my previous comment (a couple above, talking about redeemable codes) Iām happy to support the games and teams I love by opening my walletā¦
I opened it for Battleborn (preordered before the original February release date - because Iām a gearbox fan)⦠$99.95 in Aus (now cheaper)
Fine, all household members can play it
I than opened it again to buy a PS+ account to be able to play it⦠$70 (something I did at the time JUST for Battleborn)ā¦
Fine, all household members can access it
And while I too, would happily open it again for a season pass⦠$29.95
Hm, doesnāt share⦠So $59.9 so 2 people can have its contents (which is currently unknown as to its actual āvalueā)
Itās a numbers gameā¦
And I could almost buy another game for thatā¦
And I kind of did after a few too many issues with BB⦠OW
Yes, we canāt āplay it togetherā, but we can still āshareā itā¦
Still sit side by side, and even take turnsā¦
Weāre even able to share its in box redeemable code, which BB did not (my original post a couple above)ā¦
I will continue to play BB, and Iāll continue to buy gearbox gamesā¦
But I think all those familiar with how they normally do their content, have a right to be a little disappointedā¦
I personally canāt wait for BL3, and will shell out all the money, even if the above happens again, the not sharingā¦
But I need a little more trust/familiarity I guess when it comes to BB firstā¦
Once I see all the content, and if itās feedback on this forum is of praiseā¦
Then hey, Iāll happily pay more per mission, etc⦠than the season pass itās self costā¦
As this is how Iāve normally done things in the past anyway, I donāt buy the season pass, I buy the individual things that peak my/our interestā¦
Because they āsharedāā¦
So will have to wait and see, if 2 of everything, would be a worthy investment.
Characters are different than something like a COD Zombies Map. They have unlock requirements, therefore itās going to be based on account. As for story missions, I feel as if everyone should be able to play but I could be wrong.
I believe they mean the 5 actual dlc, as in, will they be playable with friends on your couch if you pay for them. In other words, will the DLC with new PvE content be accessible to all profiles on the console it was bought on or just the account?
(The rest of which is in the season pass shouldnāt be console wide because unlike missions characters and titles earned by playing characters, and character leegendaries are all things that are very account based, whereas playing story? thats more console related, except the possible legendary drops from those missions.)
it makes sense tbh, Afterall when the 2nd player on the console signs in, and they join your party its under thier own gearbox/shift type account as well, hence why character unlocks and what not are seperate as well. I have no issue with it tbh, and neither does my wife.
Thatās what we mean yes. And the answer is NO you need to buy the season pass twice if you want to play the DLC with your friend/bf/gf/wife/husband/son/daughter. Which in my opinion is purely a money making tactic as they know a lot of people play this game splitscreen and want to have the new missions. So for all the people that want to play this splitscreen the season pass is actually $40 instead of $20 as you need to buy it twice.
Really sad that GBX done this. Itās a real let down as I bought this game for the splitscreen as well.
My gf plays around 3/4 hours a week so its also not that she is a full on gamer or anything so itās a shame I need to pay $20 again for her so she doesnāt feel left out but she will probably do the missions 3/4 times max.
All other DLCās that I have on my console are free to play with her account and the one game I do care about that she can play it. I need to pay again -.-
From what I understand it is 2K that has decided on all the pricing.
Okay annoying 2K then!
It would make sense if this was a mmo/moba/etc sort of game where everything is online and online only. It is not because they added couch co-op and have a tradition of couch co-op. In borderlands i buy an additional character pack (ābonus contentā) and EVERYONE on my box gets that character. In Battleborn, NOPE. Thatās the rub.
Now if the season pass is just a shortcut to unlock the characters instead of normal progression i guess iād let it slide because iād still have āaccessā but if they are exclusive to season pass (which is the norm) then this system is very unappreciated.
Everything is online and online onlyā¦
Therefore once again it makes sense that it was done this way. If it wasnāt then sure I would be complaining as well. But is not. The campaign and the co-op still connect to a server.
Still doesnāt explain why the redemption code for golden skins that came in the physical disc box of Battleborn only worked for one system account player⦠But Overwatchās shared between system account playersā¦?
It had to be redeemed inside the PlayStation store. As it was a PSN account codeā¦
It wasnāt a shift account code, like often put up on Twitter for example for loot packs. (Or borderlands stuff)ā¦
Only the player that redeemed it inside the PlayStation store recieved the golden skins⦠Other users on the same system, did notā¦
However with Overwatch, even the players on the system that didnāt redeem the code within the PlayStation store (the code that like Battleborn, came inside the physical disc edition), recieved the widowmaker skinā¦
I donāt see how this is āonlineā relatedā¦
As Overwatch is also an online game, and such a thing was transferable/shared amongst system usersā¦
But Battleborn was notā¦
I get that season passes, and DLC, may operate differently, and may be tied in some way to a shift account
But in box redemption codes, that are redeemed within the PlayStation store, should be differentā¦
Just hope everyone is fairly opening their wallets, and not having something fishy going onā¦
If I could get an answer on the above, an explanation on how it all works, then that would certainly help⦠But only if you have the time of course, @JoeKGBX
How did you come to that conclusion? Think about it, my friends play the story missions just fine and they are ONLINE. Iām sorry, but saying others have to pay because the missions connect to a server is almost laughable. Please tell me how/why the new ones would be any different whatsoever to play than the current story missions?
Actually, none of my friends have ever signed up for any type of Gearbox or Shift account. In fact, I donāt remember any messages saying I needed to sign up for some type of account to play this game. Other than the obvious Xbox Gold account, of course. The fact that they sign in under their own gamertag has absolutely nothing to do with Gearbox, Battleborn, or any other single game out there.
That was never the issue during the Borderlands Games. If the Main Account purchased the Season Passā¦any sub Accounts on the consoles will have access to the new DLC content. SO all of a sudden nowā¦Gearbox is changing that in BattleBorn? Sounds like a money scam to me. I really backed up Randy all these years but itās starting to look like everyone has been right about him & gearbox.
@JoeKGBX I think they really need to reword the season pass description on the marketplaces. I donāt know about the Xbox nor the steam marketplace, but the below is a screenshot for the PS4
āFor play on accounts designated primary ps4 system and other ps4 systems when signed in with that accountā
But I read it as for use on the account users primary ps4 system. Not as an account bound but as long as you are on the accounts primary system you would have access. Or for the second portion as long as the account with it has it downloaded and is playing even on someone elseās system they can access the dlc. Itās a very blurry line they are drawing and if that one line is what they are banking on they are really hinging on wishy-washy grammer
I know this is a hotbutton issue and honestly I have never heard of DLC that was account bound, but it is not specified in the marketplace enough to show this. As the marketplace is concerned there should never be āopen to interpretation pointā
Also while I am at it the new thread that speaks on the resent news about the upcoming updates/dlc there was no mentions about the Split-screen layout are they ever going to make adjustments to make it easier to read the text while playing Split-screen. My wife and I play together on a 50" t.v. and we canāt read it at all. Please advise. If need be a p.m. is okay
