I’m not sure where this fits.
I’ve seen some say yes and some say no to requiring plus to play online. I plan on getting this soon after release, but it’ll take longer if I also need plus.
Its a paid for online only game, so yes. Only f2p and mmos are exempt to the best of my knowledge.
Didn’t you need PS+ to play the Beta? I couldn’t check because i have PS+, but being a MP game like Battleborn i believe you’ll indeed need PS+, even to play the story solo since you need to create a lobby when sitting in the menus. (but i can’t confirm the latter)
Occasionally Sony lifts up that requirement for PS+ on specific weekends (such as when the Uncharted 4 Stress Test was up), and these are not too uncommon, so in those instances you won’t need PS+ to play Battleborn- or any MP game for that matter.
I played most days of the beta and I haven’t had PS+ for close to a year now. The beta allowed people to play online without it I guess. I’ve been meaning to get PS+ again and since I imagine Battleborn won’t be an exception it’s the perfect time.
I would think the final version of the game will require it since it is a PvP game with the PvE being a sort of matchmaking as well. I have 5 people in my home playing games and we only require 1 player to have PS+ and the console to be primary for that player, then we all can play it.
If that helps anyone out there to figure out how to get around the PS+ requirement.

Yes. It’s a subscription fee we pay yearly in most cases. PlayStation network used to be a free service, but the growth in players and content started weighing heavy on the services they provided. At least, that’s what they told us.
It’s $50 a year.
at least they throw in some games every month without extra charge. ive been a whole year without subscription, but as soon as may 3rd arrives, here it goes my yearly 50.

Eh. As long as I dont need to pay for PS+ while playing solo I’ll be fine.
You will have to be online regardless of playing it solo or multiplayer. For one thing Gearbox really wants to clamp down on any kind of cheating and this is the best way to do it. Not foolproof, but helps a lot.
As far as console services being required - I have no idea, but Battleborn runs on its own servers, so they may not be necessary since you don’t need servers form those services (say that 5 times fast!) to connect with the game or other players. (MMOGs run on their own servers which is probably why Sony exempts them from PS+.)
I know this part. Progress is stored server side.
I jsut wonder if PS+ will be required to play the PvE content alone.
ps+ is not required to go online, it that were the case you couldnt download patches and demos.
SOME games, require psn+ to play online, most of them, but not all of them.
in diablo 3 you need psn+ to send a message :v
I’d love the idea of not needing PS+ to play with others on PS4, but I doubt that’ll happen. I assume we’ll be able to play solo without it. That only makes sense.
if you got the battleborn in the playstation store, it does specifically say that playstation plus will be required in the “fine print” i guess you can call it. I didnt think it was going to be needed because i played the beta and I havent had ps plus in a really long time either but after i read on another message board that it will be required I had to look for myself and it does say it. Im disappointed because I just really don’t care for the monthly fee even if they throw in free games because most of them suck anyway.
Beta did not require PS+, full game will. They’ve said it before but I don’t have the source off hand.

So, is it confirmed you need PS+? Or can you still do Private matches?
