Gamescom has recently passed so much of their attention must have been required to that event. Usually we receive daily updates so I guess they are resting up for now =)
Mix, mix, swirl, mix
Either way. The core statement stays the same.
I pretty much read 50% of the entire Battleborn forum. Donāt know if thereās another forum outside of gearbox, with more info. I also read the complete dev tracker. The periods between the game-relevant posts are quite long imo. During my time on here i havenāt seen them post anything, although the Gamescom week should be the most interesting time.
Anyway. Iāll gladly change my mind, when i actually see a dev post something about the game on here.
youāve been here what?
(looks at profile)
Two whole days!
wowā¦
Just 3-4 days ago @Jythri gave us a major info dump.
Youāve the gotta remember game is still being made they donāt want tell us about anything that wonāt make it into the main game (, and then have to deal with fanboy rage).
I know youāre frustrated so am I. I want more info too but saying they donāt talk to us simply isnāt true.

we cool bro.
I knew you would get at me over this -_- Thatās why i noted that i read the dev tracker. And Jythriās ābunch of infoā from 4 days ago was a āwe did the thing because we thought itās coolā. Not really giving the kind of info i meant.
The thing from >5 < days ago was a minor addition to info that we already had. I would even go as far and say itās whatās to be expected by any moba player.
Most of their stuff is puns and poking fan-speculations. Which is cool, indeed, but by no means the real deal
āPatience young grasshopperā

The beta will come and all queries will be answered.
Totally down for the beta. I was ready to install it when i got home, only to find out that there was none yet
Guess i will burn my time with adding to Orendiās wikia and finishing my fanart about her then ^^
So. Coupla things.
Weāre 5+ months to release. Weāre working our butts off. That means, things-a changinā. From everything to what/when/how or beta is, to systems and balance of the game itself.
If youāre looking for hard statsā¦well. Itāll be a bit before we get those to you. Theyāre just not relevant for discussion here until you get your hands on the game, ya know.
But reallyā¦lots of interesting criticism @TheFunfighter, with not a lot of concrete details on what you want.
What would be helpful is this - give me some examples of information that you would like to see, and the frequency with which you would like to see it.
I try to post something every couple of days, even if all it does is help me get to know folks in the community here. Things are gonna ge REAL intense once beta and release start, and Iād like to establish a good community here before we get to the number crunching and power arguments. I think theyāll be healthier then.
I might not be able to meet yourt expectations - a lot of the information we share now is gated a bit by marketing. We have time to fill between now and beta, and weād like not to spoil the enitre game before we get there! That saidā¦tell me what you want and Iāll see what I can do!
Also, sorry if my attention span is slow. On vacation with my family this week one more time before our final big push to beta and release! Iāll still try to lurk some becauseā¦you know. I love you guys.
The Beta
Love you too, Randy.

Hereās one thing I adore and that sometimes happen with other video-game companies, when they post a page with a character reveal, they also link to a few concept art screenshots of early stages of the character design.
Also a real section about environment with a few words.
About those two examples above some images have been released (example 1, example 2) BUT theyāre not to be found on the Battleborn website, or if they are (environment) theyāre dumped into the media/screenshot section but donāt have a section of their own.
And then a section with a little āteaserā lore about the enemies, at least those weāve seen in the videos.
What I want to get at is that your website is technically really nice but it lacks organization of content, stuff to dream about while we wait.
Another thing, but we all know itās very costly though, are the āmeet the devsā videos that are released with regularity, like every fortnight or every week where one dev is interviewed and showcase his work (a little), from animating, to concept artist, to level builder, to 3D modellers, sound-design, and so on and so forth.
Ah. Well thatās an answer of some kind.
It is totally ok to say you donāt wanna publish stats, but right now it feels like nothing is happening around the game, besides revealing characters that might as well be already finished for 3 months.
Judging from your comment, i assume you read my other posts (which you should totally do, because THIS thread is about preorder)
Ok. I will just throw you everything I have and you guys get to choose from the buffet. Letās start. I want to see:
- a list of all relevant character stats. Are there hidden stats that canāt be accessed ingame?
- an overview of non-boss monsters and/or at least their average stats (no bosses bc spoilers n stuff ^^)
- info about future plans/internal testings. That 3rd augment option is interesting as hell, but we can only guess right now
- concept arts, of both actual and canceled content
- an update to the website. Please (!) sort the character abilities like this: basic attacks, passives, actives. Put them in seperated categories or even better: in paragraphs. The current iteration is confusing as hell for new people. Just a matter of changing from item to list view with a header. See the wiki for reference. I did 90% of Orendiās current wiki page. One step further: clicking an ability will highlight all relevant helix upgrades. Link the 30 sec gameplay videos on the respective char page with a few ingame screenshots
- tell us more about gamemodes
- pictures of EVERYTHING please. Even if we have to get the info out of them ourselves. People like to look at stuff.
- do you plan on expanding the champion roster? If yes: at which rate?
- are there items? The currency felt kinda pointless during my playtest (Also dropping stuff at spot is a horrible thing for ranged chars. My friend that played Rath picked up all the drops from the enemies that i roasted as Orendi). A small basic set that lets you buff your shield by 10 or basic attack damage by 20 and stuff would do
Ok. Freestyled that list during breakfast. Your turn. What i wanna mention though:
You have to understand that we love you too (thx btw). Just put a big red disclaimer-stamp on it and show us everything you have worked on. The stats as well, even if they are subject to change.
Checking in once or twice every week would be nice, or instantly when it comes to big stuff like the Helix revamps.
Btw: maybe we should move to another thread. Getting a bit off topic here
Just go to one of my threads where i ask questions, or open an āAsk the devsā-thread and do the @ thing with my name.
And enjoy your vacation. I wonāt let you guys rest once the beta arrives. After years of LoL Iām ready to math the sh out of your game ^^
Concept art is always nice and thoughts from the staff about the development if possible =)

Now show some love for Montana and include some more game footage!
This both delights and frightens me! Weāre working hard on trying to be balanced, and know we wonāt get it right at the start. We are tooling our systems for the ability to quick patch big problems, and plan on supporting patch updates for balance heavily out of the door.
Iāll have to get a deeper answer to your other requests when Iām back in the office next week. But, for a quick run-down:
-
I can probably get you a relevant stat list, with big red disclaimers.
-
Website - Right now, this is in marketingās hands. Iāll happily collate your requests though and use them as ammo for my āmake it betterā gun. I agree there is much room for improvement here.
-
Concept art - Iāll see what I can scrounge.
Thereās a lot planned for the lead up to release, but I can probably find some things you havenāt seen. -
items? Yes. Weāve started talking some about our āGearā which are character-generic lootables that you can bring into the match with you to change-up your gameplay. Thereās a lot to this, and Iāll dig in as soon as possible and get you some details.
-
Wow, I would love to do meet the devs videos. Weāve got some really cool guys on our team that are much more worth knowing than me. Iāll see what I can rouse.
-
Non-boss creatures. Great idea. We should be able to talk about Minion Robotics and thralls quite a bit. Iāll see where we can push this.
-
Future plans - Iām hoping that release is the tip of the iceberg for us. Itās going to be a big chunky set of content, typical for Gearbox. But, weāre kinda on a roll making characters, and I really donāt want to have to stopā¦
-
Montana - I assure you, Montana is loved. For many reasons. He does need some updated game footage. Weāve altered a few bits since we talked about him last. He no longer leaps on his ULT, but he still turns all metal-like. Weāre still fine-tuning what defenders are in our game, so thatās one of the reasons weāve been slow to show him again. That and 25 FREAKIN CHARACTERS. We have a lot to talk about.
More next week, friends! Thanks for your patience.
I noticed that when you get killed, it shows the enemy that killed you with its name, firstly thats really cool, and secondly it means they all have offical names and such which you could do some interesting stuff with.
A āpokedexā of enemies would be awesome (although maybe too late to add if you havnt already) so after you kill something its name, picture, stats and a paragraph explaining what it is gets unlocked and viewable from the menu.
For the website promontial material you could have a few unlocked already. To build hype and show the vast scale of enemy variety based on all the empty slots (if of course youāre confidant in the variety, otherwise just have āthis is only a sample of the enemy variety in BattleBornā written next to them).
EDIT: In regards to āmath the sh*t out of your gameā, I emplore you to keep all the numerical and % listings for abiltites and attacks. āIncreases Damageā means nothing compared to āIncreases damage by 50 over 1.5 secondsā.
Borderlands was pretty good at this (with some glaring exceptions of descriptions that were āsimplifiedā which ended up meaning something else entirely).
If someone doesnt understand what certain terms mean they can look it up (and even if you cant do the math, its usually clear what somethings going to do).
The stuff you choose beforehand to alter the gameplay sounds nice (and should definitely be kept as an āunlock this playstyleā-option), but i was more thinking of something to spend your ingame money on. Unless itās something that gets collected afterwards, Iād love to spend - letās say 400 - on ~100 extra shield when Iām constantly waiting for someone to revive me. Generic stats to adapt to the course of the game. You could try that out in Coop mode first.
Good to hear that stuff is not set in stone with the website. Poke them hard!
Setting up the system around instant hotfixes is really nice, and probably something youāll need during the Beta. After that you you can slow it a bit down with patching.
Aw man. Canāt wait for the Beta. Especially when the devs actually check what you wrote on the forum. The Crew still has bugs that we told them about during last yearās Betaā¦
BTW: I will make a new thread, because weāre not really talking about Preorder anymore. Reply there please:
Just to clear up any misunderstandings (cause Iām sensing one here):
It meant āI will calculated everything that can be calculated.ā
Nothing like āput away the numbersā.
Just in case you thought that. If not, the mistake was on my part.
BTW: I will make a new thread, because weāre not really talking about Preorder anymore. Reply there please.
Yeah I know. But too many games make that too hard because the replace numbers with abstract graphs measuring stats.
I was trying to say that I really hope BattleBorn keeps the very specific values seen in the e3 build.
I couldnāt find it, so I replied here.
