She was “she be used everywhere”. Literally every single match I played for days. To say that every person sucked only against her and that that’s strictly the players, even tho these players are fine going up against the other 25 characters,if funny as hell. The whole every person sucks against a new character makes no sense, I don’t think everyone is as stupid as you make them sound …Anyways this whole nerf just confirms my suspicions. I mean, just reading her abilities and helix’s, I knew immediately she’d be OP’ed, without even playing against or with her yet. Idk how even gearbox missed it. So, during this time you only got to play her if you payed real $$ (I was on xbox, not PS4). Soooooo, the rest of us had to wait at least a week, maybe longer to get all those coins, but whatever, no big deal.
However, um, does anyone else see that maybe this was to act as an enticement to get her? I wasn’t sure till now when I read that nerf list. I mean, I agree she was OP’ed(no one character should be getting max kills+assists every single game), but that’s another thread. However, this does seem like a lot, but I haven’t been playing recently so maybe not, IDK. Based on people’s responses, she still seens good.
Anyway, now playing even more games with miko and vs Alani she is a very different character, if caught alone she’s done, miko can easily escape 2 players beating on it because of her sheer speed, my recommendation now? Increase Alani’s speed to maker up for her lack of DPS/Heal
Then why nerfing Alani’s primary, when buffing Isic’s is the more obvious choice? Btw. his primary attack needs a buff dearly, at least 75%.
For all the nerfs she has received, they could have least buffed her speed, so that she is on par with characters like Miko or Orendi.

Well, her speed has always been her biggest downfall. If you buffed her speed (especially up to Orendi, who I think is the fastest character?), you’d be getting rid of that, so that all she’d really have is low hp (since her damage is amazing for a support, she has great control, excellent AoE and ST, awesome healing) and, even then, with her low hp her survivability is still top notch because of her ability to self heal (and Full Saturation on herself is incredible).
I think that the design reason that Alani was given such a low speed was actually Riptide, which provides a haste buff to any player (including herself) hit by it. Since she’s always hit by her own Riptide (I believe; she might not if she moves backwards when she activates it), she can push her speed up to be the same as any other player.
What I wouldn’t mind, if it’s possible, would be an increase to her sprint speed but not her normal movement speed. She’d still be slow as molasses in combat but at least she wouldn’t always be last to get anywhere (also, it would be nice to actually notice a difference in speed…).
ISIC does NOT need a buff, and that pittly little dribble before the money shot is not his primary attack.
Eh, I could see buffing ISIC’s basic (non-ult) damage a bit while nerfing his ult damage somewhat (and putting a time limit on the ult, like 30 secs). He’s kind of mediocre before getting his ult but a damage god after he gets it.
I realized something yesterday. Was in a PvE mission with @derch. I was playing Benedict and he was on Alani. He outdamaged me by the end of the mission. I do waaaay more damage with Benedict than I do with Alani, even though I have spent far more time playing Alani.
The conclusion is that while I like Alani, I’m just not that good with her. If people are struggling to play Alani well, the same may apply to them, but Alani is still extremely capable.
Alani to me is a lot like Orendi, a non stop attack meaning no relaod, AOE attacks with quick cooldown. The difference is I turn around and heal my teammates now and they but also with her self healing she can stay in the fight and always put out damage.
It’s like the my old maya healing argument, instead of playing a glass cannon where you have to get out of the fight, I built maya as a tank so I can stay in the fight and if you never leave the fight you do more damage. Thats how I treat alani, just constant damage.
I’ve had a lot of PVP matches with her when im in the top 1-2 damage dealers as well, she can just stay in it and keep pushing.
Getting off topic, but I think what I’m finally figuring out is that I do better with slow-firing characters like Benedict and Toby because my accuracy is much better than with faster-firing characters. I LOVE playing Orendi, but again, I don’t put out the kind of damage with her I see others do.
I’m typically not the spray and pray guy thats why I would do Jakobs grip on pimps, go for that one shot that matters, also why I love thorn.
But Alani just clicks with me, I’m also not great with Orendi. Alani to me is just a better version of her, note I said “to me everyone”.
Even post nerf Alani can put out a lot of damage, stay in the fight, you can have slow, stun with the bubble, DOT on AOE, heal your teammates, movement buffs, just a ton of tools for her and your team.
I am not too sure what you talking about, I just used Alani and shes great, I had 5 wins in a row, decent damage, almost no deaths, easy to play as. She is still better support than Reyna (i mastered her) and Ambra. I cant count how many lives I saved with the heals, how many times I assited thanks to the geyser, her over time wave heal along with dot and slow is amazing, and a aoe ult. I still think she is top 10 characters.
Chill, Alani is still really good.
Once people get a taste of easy mode, anything else tastes like dirt. Thats why they call it nerfed into the ‘ground’
Wow the new upcoming nerfs are disheartening
:
Alani’s level 7 Left Helix Augment, Pressure Wash no longer increases Osmosis stack generation
Swapped the Helix locations of Alani’s level 3 Left Helix Augment, Whitewater and level 3 Right Helix Augment, Go With the Flow with her level 7 Left Helix Augment, Pressure Wash and level 7 Right Helix Augment, Overflow
And no, the +10% move speed and +20% base dmg don’t make up for it.
Her healing which was technical yet very fun got stomped hard
!
So pressure wash is now useless and moved lower :
Pffffff…
<=== Sad Panda, very sad…
I stopped using Alani well over a month ago and I’m so glad I did. At this point I just find it amusing that they’re still screwing with her. Out of all the issues people are talking about they’re still focused on screwing with Alani. LMAO whatever
Well I don’t mind they adjust her numbers so as to balance her.
You’ve not seen me complain on her previous nerfs.
But THERE : it’s a removal of FUN
!
I don’t mind they lower her healing output or her damage output.
I don’t mind they balance her : it’s needed.
But removing the FUN of the Osmosis stack “overdrive” is a big NO NO !
It was a gearshift change, it was a nice feeling, now all we get is a streamlining : BOOOOOOOORIIIIIING
No dev should be allowed to remove FUN.
FUN can be added, NEVER removed : gaming 101…
But hey look at her dmg output, it’s been lowered and now it’s getting back up :
do they know what they want ???
So what’s going to happen now Pressure Wash is turned into a pure vegetative state : they’ll have to adjust (in how many weeks ?) the Osmosis generation to average of before/after pressure wash because Alani’s healing overall will prove to be under-performing ?
SIGH
Well, the only real nerf you mentioned is the removal of Osmosis stack generation from Pressure Wash. Still, Pressure Wash is valuable because it increases her admittedly limited range (I would like it if it also increased the range on Geyser and Emergence to compensate for the loss of Osmosis stack generation, but I can understand why not); it also balances out against Wellspring much better: longer range or stronger heal. Before, Pressure Wash was the obvious (non-lore farming) option because it gave you better range and more healing (which is better than bigger heals because of Full Saturation).
Something to keep in mind, though, and probably the reason why they’re getting rid of the faster stacking in the first place, is that Alani can already increase the speed in which she stacks up Osmosis stacks by increasing her attack speed; unlike Ambra, Reyna, or Miko, Alani gets better at healing and damage by improving a single stat.
Of greater import, as I see it, are the reduction in Geyser’s size and duration, which I can also understand.
Personally, I’m truly happy they’re bringing Alani’s base damage back to roughly what it was before the big nerfs and increasing her sprint speed (and making the 30% move speed helix a viable option by putting it with nerfed Pressure Wash and Overflow) so that I’m actually happy, happy enough to not mind the understandable nerfs otherwise.
I’m a little upset that they’re getting rid of Alani’s early game performance (both of the current level 3 helices are a massive portion of Alani’s total performance), but, once again, understandable: Alani was an early game dynamo.
I would hold off on judgment. Osmosis stacks are pretty easy to get and you’ll just get them a little slower now (9 attacks instead of 6) but I doubt you were healing after every 6 attacks anyways, considering how great her attack speed is.
The coming changes reflect that the choice between Whitewater and Go With The Flow is actually a choice between healer and controller focus.
Without the additional stack generation from Pressure Wash, the additional +20% Attack Speed seems like a prerequisite for efficient (meaning max Stacks) healing.
Also, like @Kitru said, Attack Speed is already very powerful on her, so I guess I’m ok with the Helix Swap.
Overall, the most affected part of her kit is the use of her controller abilities early to mid game (due to not having Go With The Flow before Level 7).
To be honest I’ve come to accept all the changes they have made to Alani.
Osmosis stack generation is easy at level 6/8 when you can generate stacks in your riptide which also has a longer duration. Pressure wash was used primarily for the increased range anyway and the increased generation was a bonus. Plus everyone takes the attack speed buff I’m sure haha I never could understand why you would take the reduced cooldowns since the attack speed aids your team healing much more.
Well a 20% damage buff outweighs the 15% damage reduction on the surface tension so that shouldn’t change too much if you trap someone with the support of your team.
The 15% radius reduction on geyser again gets compensated for with a helix choice and gives the larger frame characters some reprieve from the constant bubble knock ups too.
Sad to see the self heal not get looked into I’m really getting tired of selfish Alanis healing themselves for more than 60% of their total healing whilst team mates die. Haha my hidden lore challenge is to take down any self healing Alani and then taunt at all possible times haha.
All in all the Alani changes hardly affect her play style and she will still be top tier.Played 120 matches and mastered completing her lore challenges along the way and still don’t mind the changes
