Likes (no particular order)

Galilea- Sheā€™s still really good, loved being on the front lines with the shield while still having the stun and melee damage to get kills.

Mellka- Unlocked her near the end and only got a couple games in with her, but in all of them I got 20+ kills, which doesnā€™t really happen to me much with other characters, so that kind of made her an instant standout.

Caldarius- Iā€™m still kind of learning Caldarius, but heā€™s a lot of fun to play. I really like being so fast and getting kills with him is really gratifying. Also since heā€™s kind of hard to play, it makes me feel like a badass when I get a good k/d with him.

Thorn- Sheā€™s crazy good. Again, I loved being able to move so fast, and she was so much fun because she could play as both a sniper-ish role and an AoE damage dealer, and she had the movement speed to switch between the two roles quickly.

Reyna- This one was a big surprise to me because I usually hate support characters. I really like the combination of her pistol, gauntlet, and homing shot, and how you could use them all together. The shield was an added bonus, and I like that I didnā€™t really have to spend time healing or anything.

Dislikes

Marquis- He always shoots me when Iā€™m not paying attention to him. Come on and fight me head on, ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– .

Shayne & Aurox- Had a lot of health, so it took a while to take down there health, but most takes are kind of stuck there when they get in trouble. Shayne/Aurox, on the other hand, could just dip out with invisibility and then come back with another fat health bar.

Orendi- Sheā€™s just always there hitting me with her stupid little magic balls, and that big ass pillar. When thereā€™s one player in particular thatā€™s annoying me in a match, it tends to be Orendi.

Ambra- ā– ā– ā– ā–  you, Ambra. ā– ā– ā– ā–  your stupid little heal beam.

  • Shayne and Aurox: This is a character I didnā€™t really expect to be one of my top characters. I went into the game expecting other characters to pull me in their direction, but I spent most of the Beta stuck on S&A.

  • Orendi: I liked her from the beginning. I actually do a bit poorly with her in PvP but extraordinarily good with her in PvE. Sheā€™s definitely my PvE character of choice.

DISLIKE

  • Marquis: He likes to be funny and try to pick me off without me noticing. Most of the time I notice, and I want to punch 'emā€¦but heā€™s nowhere near punching range. Also how can anybody not notice their shields dropping in two shots and their health slashed on the 3rd shot?

  • Galilea: Even post-nerf she seemed to bring fear to the hearts of teams. A well supported Galilea is near impossible to kill. Her strongest feature is her versatility and skill-set. She literally does EVERYTHING. Sheā€™s a great defender, above average attacker, she has the easiest stun to land, most annoying Silence ability, life-steal, retreat options, literally everything. Only thing I can see countering her is a Ranged character with Ranged CC.

  • Ambra: I wouldnā€™t mind her being insanely hard to kill, if her damage output was lowered a few more notches. Only time I could kill an Ambra was after another team member whittled her down and proccā€™d her Flame Shield and I would chase and kill. (Or be the one who whittled her down and have a team mate chase and kill a fleeing Ambra).

Likes:

  • Galliea: She is my teams go-to for locking down minion lanes in Meltdown. Her ability to block damage with her shield and the ability to amp everyoneā€™s damage is great.

  • Thorn: The combination of her Bliss to slow others while speeding myself up is awesome. High mobility and annoying hit and run mechanics are so much fun.

  • Deande: Nothing is more fun than cloaking and sending my decoy out to distract others while I set up behind them. And the helix option that gives her a ā€˜back-stabā€™ effect makes me feel like a real rogue.

Dislike:

  • Ambra: I think the only minor tweak needed is her over shield and her attack that auto-locks. I just feel she is alittle to powerful.

  • Oscar Mike: I only disliked OM because I feel that he is under-powered. At no point do I feel threatened by OM regardless of my character choice.

  1. Reyna- fun support, alot of what she lacks at first can be gained through her helix. while Iā€™ll admit she isnā€™t the best character she is my favorite to play. also has cool taunts.

  2. Miko- Another support I played alot of, really good healer, teammates were grateful, got carpel tunnel from holding the heal button to long though. Heā€™s a better support than reyna IMO, but I still had the most fun on reyna.

Disliked playing against-

  1. Miko- I found myself hoping in general that the other team didnā€™t have a support, but especially hoping they didnā€™t have a miko because then our team would likely have a significant advantage.

  2. Montana- alone I wasnā€™t to concerned of him on the enemy team, but I found myself hoping the enemy team didnā€™t have a miko/ montana combo. Not that their is anything wrong with that strategy balance wise but Itā€™s way easier to fight a team that doesnā€™t work together

I got to play with Deande only about twice, and I loved that cloak ability. Canā€™t imagine how much fun you could have using her and Oscar Mike together with well coordinated attacks on lonely wanderers. Stealth buddies, behind enemy lines :smile:

Liked to play,

1. Rath - Fast and nimble, really nice to sneak up on mfā€™s. If you play your cards right you wonā€™t even need to resort to his ult to melt peopleā€™s faces off. Exceptional on Meltdown, really easy to control both lanes at the same time.

2. Benedict - My favorite to play Incursion with, good dmg output and control wide areas with. Can get into the gist of things quickly with glide and then retreat far far away when needed.

3. Galilea - My backup char. Good all around and able to adapt to all situations and teams.

Disliked playing against,

1. Caldarious - COME BACK HERE YOU LITTLE S***.

2. Marquis - Mostly because apart from a few selected few, most players i faced that used Marquis only used them to take potshots and steal easy kills on their team mates, very few used them correctly to the advantage of their respective team.

Liked:

  1. Galilea - My favorite character over the course of the beta, thereā€™s been plenty of discussion about her so no need to guess why

  2. Deande - By far my favorite of the stealth characters, only got to use her for a little bit though

  3. Rath - Out of the starters available Rath was easily my favorite, I dropped him later on, but he was great in the beginning, also I loved playing against Rath as Galilea, so many easy kills

  4. Melka - A character I wish I had played more with in PvP, I used her several times in story mode and loved her abilities and play style

Dislike:

  1. Shayne and Aurox- These guys seriously pissed me off at times, that Fetch ability is pretty unfair but the most annoying thing was itā€™s health, a stealth based character should not have 2000 health

  2. Kelvin - Didnā€™t really hate him but I found his Sublimate ability pretty annoying for running away, made it hard to finish him when used by a decent player

  3. Oscar Mike - Solely because of the 1 Incursion Match I played were we lost our sentry early and managed to come back and tie the game, then with 1 minute left he stealths, runs to our sentry, and drops his damn ulty on our sentry doing just enough to give them the win

Reyna: Always enjoyed the support characters and the ability to provide shields and mark targets was really fun. Was great going against a Galiea and marking her then watching as my team melted her down.

Miko: Again love that support that I can provide with this guy. Running around healing people and throwing mushrooms was fun. Though sucked when people ran away when I tried healing them, though I know i did this a few times as well.

Kelvin: Ice and water has always been my favorite powers so a ice golem that eats people was a must play and I loved him so much.

Benedict: Was really great flying in the air raining down rockets on people. Though man running out of rockets was such a buzz kill.

Thorn: Always loved bow characters and she didnā€™t disappoint, though hard to charge up and hit with her bow sometimes for the most part she was really fun to play.

Dislike:

Galiea: Ugh hated when someone played her, that healing and damage just made her so ridiculous

Ambar: Loved playing her hated going against her. Damn your life stealing sunpot healing piece of s**t with an overshield when things get rough.

Rath: Swear this guy has stealth sometimes, pops outta nowhere and destroys me before I know what is happening.

Blodur: Man is he annoying. I swear every time there was a Boldur on the other team he was unkillable

That guy was rough. Lot of shield power and the overshield/dash to get away made him really hard to pin down and kill. Think the one time I killed him was on Ambra when he was blocking attacks in front and I sun beamed him down from behind

But cant remember the name? Dang, because i never saw a single Boldur :frowning: which is no surprise, Dwarves always get the short end of the stick but still manage to beat people to death with it.

He felt like one of the more powerful characters in the game to me. Also, he is one of the best options for sweeping minions, so it is understandable if he is not the best at Battleborn v Battleborn

Liked:

Galilea: Sheā€™s broken, but when Iā€™m using her I have to admit itā€™s pretty fun. Being able to switch between agressive/tank roles as well as having access to stun/silence/healing/range itā€™s nuts.

Orendi: Iā€™m honestly not really that good at Orendi, but spamming out nukes itā€™s great fun when it goes right, and itā€™s awesome to punish melee characters. The helix mutations that augment her cooldowns are great fun to abuse too, and you can get an almost non-stop cycle of spells going if youā€™re clever.

Reyna: Sheilding a friendly across the map to save them from damage and win a 1v1 is sooo much more rewarding than simply healing the crap out of one player. I feel like Iā€™m always useful on Reyna. Soaking up enemy shields, healing up/rescuing team-mates and marking enemy players for death, which is amazing for punishing the massively out of position assassin characters that were all around in the beta. Iā€™m not sure how competitively viable she is compared to a traditional healer, but sheā€™s certainly lots of fun.

Disliked:

Galilea: Just because I saw her so much. Also, just how silly the 1v1 fights turned out. I did run into some hillarious situations where we would both throw and be stunned by each others shields at the same time. lol

Ambra: Incredibly frustrating to pin down, unless you hard focus her with multiple stuns/mark her for death she can use her speed and overshield passive to escape stupid situations. Her lock on firing mode is super lame to use and play against, Iā€™d love to see changes that nerf the lock on mode, maybe that place more emphasis on melee or something.

Miko: The only thing that bothers me about Miko is just how much it forces me to use Galilea. I donā€™t think there are enough characters (or I just havenā€™t used them yet) that can interact with/block healing. It felt like every game I didnā€™t choose Galilea to counter a healer I was just putting my team at a massive disadvantage. Again though, this could just be because Iā€™m new to the game.

Iā€™d lean towards @rsquires82 in this argument, as I didnā€™t think he did much damage, but he was very good at hit and run, and keeping sustained damage. The grenade with napalm was the real killer blow for any enemy in problems though. I loved going stealth behind them and waiting for runners, then bang. At level 10 with the ULT using slow down, very easy to get kills then. Group pushes, you stealth behind them, drop ULT, hurts them, slows them, wait to see is in trouble, grenade, then shoot like hell at anyone else or get out of there. Brilliant team player for this reason. And when you could see your team mate having a fight with someone, stealth, run up to them and SURPRISE M****** F****** :wink:

As for favorites in order:

Boldur: You know youā€™ve played too much Boldur when your answer to every problem is bashing your body into the opponent until they give up. Also, Bears.

Phoebe: Oh my lovely sword mistress, donā€™t you ever change. Dodge dodge stab. Dodge dodge Stab

Reyna: You get a shield, and YOU get a shield, SHIELDS FOR EVERYONE!!

Dislikes, in order!:

Ghalt: This guy, I never unlocked him so Iā€™m uncertain of which helix gives it to him. But the moment he gets the 3 chain, chain pull. I would almost set down my controller. Because there was nothing but death waiting me.

Marquis: Stop. Picking. This guy. Too many moments of slim victory have been cut short by the familiar sounds of a cane-sniper round making its way into my skull. Always from nowhere. (I do get the supreme satisfaction of sprinting up to sniper perch and Boulderdashing him into my team from time to time. But still!)

Ambra: The bloody passive shield. Baits me every. Single. Time. Does this make her OP? No. Does it make me look like a noob who has no awareness? Definitely >.>

Liked: Orendi, the little blur of chaos. Also, Ashly Burch. Chaining spells = fun. Being useful both against minions and against players = double fun. Being easy to squish when youā€™re playing against her controlled by a player unfamiliar with Nullify = megafun.

Shayne, the gender-suspect teen detective. After my fifth death with no scores I was all ā€œhow do I play this character?!ā€, after three matches I was all ā€œtake that, you camping bandersnatch!ā€ at enemy Marquis players.

ISIC, the Handsome Jack As A Claptrap. DIE, MEATBAGS. A walking torrent of gunfire, and awesome at countering Ambra, Miko, Oscar and anyone else who thinks the splash damage of Omega Strike will not kill them faster than they can kill it back.

Dislike: Benedict. Hella hard to shoot down when heā€™s in the air, and surprisingly sturdy, too!

Aaand thatā€™s about it. Had a bit of a hate-on for Ambra at first, then realized how to kill her efficiently. Still died a lot, but in an honest way.

ā€¢ Oscar Mike - Honestly, I like Whiskey better, but I know that Mike is the better choice. Takes me back to CoD :wink:

ā€¢ Ghalt - Ugh. Such a disappointment to me. I wanted him to feel like Stitches in Heroes of the Storm.

OM does downright silly damage endgame with just his rifle. He gets 2 massive buffs to his starting damage in full tactical ammo (25% overall buff) and a mutation for another multiplicative 18% on top of that. Then you get more multiplicative bonuses from gear and he can drop a full health orendi in 1 clip, and anyone in 2. Add in his as powerful as an ult flame nade and yeahā€¦ Totally not underpowered and I honestly forsee him getting toned down a fair amount down the line.

S+A: they just do anything at any range fairly risk free. Love the dialouge too

Reyna: Best support easy, and spike heals make for a more active playstyle than miko

Ghalt: Bergunzer

Sneaky Raths is about the only one to bother me.

Liked playing at (no precise order as I like variety)

Miko
A nice all around healer. Quick on its feet, with a stun/slow to ether assist the kill, save someone or save yourself, and good heal abilities overall. Plus a nice mushroom look.

Boldur.
I just LOVED pissing people off with him. In a game where so many poeoples were more into getting kills than playing the objectives, that dwarf is the ultimate weapon to piss off the other side. had up to 3 dps trying to kill me as I was slowly moving back from their base to mine, didnā€™t manage to kill me. Even went to block the sniper trying to backdoor the sentry by putting my shield where he was trying to fire at. Plus Boldur is magic. His various taunts (I had 4 unlocked) are fun, I like the super slayinā€™ skin a lot, and he looks great overall anyway, and his voice actor is just the perfect fit. Itā€™s difficult to kill something with him except if you manage to piss off peoples enough for them to expose themselves too much when trying to kill you, though.

Deande.
I like the playstyle her abilities are suggesting. A bit underwhelmiong at time, but it felt even more satisfying to trick others and kill them with her. Bonus points for the fans. And coolest escape ability in the game, too.

Mellka
I had a hard time playing with her but I thought she had a really interesting set of abilities. I wouldnā€™t say that sheā€™s ā€œeasyā€ like the game suggests though. Nice looking arm too.

Ghalt.
For one reason. You know all those characters usually pissing you off at firing at you from their bases without getting out to fight on equal terms? GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL. And bring back on earth that bird flying around too while weā€™re at it. Not bnecause he was pissing me off, just to piss him off instead. Because I can :]. Felt like some kind of fun fair event where all the things you can shoot at have a pic of peoples that pissed you off before put on them. Great and satisfying.

First thing, that guyā€™s chatter is just awesome. I love the ā€œfriendly psychopathā€ that he is, talking about murdering while pleasantly talking/smiling, and how heā€™s poking fun of everyone he killed. The recording are just fun, and the ā€œname not found-> oups, something must have gone wrong!ā€ as well, the various sentences when he teleport/resurrect just as well. Then his abilities are pretty fun as well. I like the overcharge mechanism. Itā€™s simple but add a plus to the play style, really.

Disliked to play against :

Galilea
Every.single.coolkid around was taking that character because it was overpowered. I encountered her so many times, was chased so many times by the players wanting to increase their kill count, itā€™s just not fun. Most of them donā€™t even play the objectives, so they actually lost lot of time when I encountered them. I hope that character is brought back in line with others before the release so that she stops being played by that type of player. That was just annoying, even when the player was clearly bad with her.

Ambra
Same as above, mostly. Not as much irritating though.

Marquis (on overgrowth only)
That map is just made for him, and lots of player were clearly taking him knowing that. That was just unfair and frustrating when you had a correct sniper on the opposite side but not on yours. Not even talking about the lame behaviour of snipping the first sentry. Thatā€™s just no.
