I don’t have a ton of issue with it, I only found it annoying when I’m doing slaughters and I throw the shield in a pile of loot and need to look at it to pick it up rather than being anywhere near it. But if you use this build correctly, you should only need to pick up once before you killed everything.
Why is this again?
A) even if you don’t have infinite action skills the clone is alive long enough for a single point investment to get you back up to 3 grenades for the next spawn
B) fractal frags is nice because it doesn’t use grenades from your stock pile - much like double barrel doesn’t use ammo from your stock pile even though he gets a copy of your gun
C) did you mean duct tape mod? Because if you have two action skills the only possible way you would need this much grenade regen is if it actually proc’d hella more often for you than me
D) just in case you were wondering, even the sentinel doesn’t use grenades from your stock pile when you do spend points into hitman
I use pocket full of grenades to ensure that I always have grenades to give the full buff to my clone. It may be overkill and I can probably get away with putting those 3 points elsewhere, but for now I keep them there until I find a better spot to put them.
Not three, 2…keep the 1 point there for the regen but more than that is overkill is what I’m saying
Could be, but there isn’t another skill I find worth going into that I haven’t already with those 1 or 2 points in the clone tree. Those 2 points needed to go somewhere to reach the capstone.
nice, great to see zane get some spotlight ! i need to get around to level one myself soon, i have all the others at 50.
I’m surprised how overlooked a lot of Zane’s skills are, hope this build motivates you to give him a shot though.
I’ve been having a great time playing him
I’ll give this a try. Zane is the only vault hunter that felt quite weak to me, even with very good anointed gear & a decent understanding of how this game works (he was my last character to reach 50). Got alot of legendary class mods to play around with & looking forward to see how the freeze approach works. So far only tried kill skill & clone focused builds.
The killskill approach is alluring but as it’s balanced right now it’s a total trap in my opinion, you can achieve a lot of the things that tree has (movement speed, healing, and damage) to a much better degree with more utility in terms of crowd control and survivability.
I hope this build works for you, let me know if you try something different that you feel makes this build better
The Night Hawkin is dealing 1 x projectile Cryo Dmg during night and 3 x projectile Fire Dmg during daytime. Correct me if I’m wrong. Btw. I’m a huge fan of the Star Helix assault rifle, which can roll kinetic/radiation/cryo.
The wiki seems to be inaccurate, I’ve had 2 night hawkins in the slaughter shaft, one burst fire, one full auto, both cryo. The full auto had x1 projectile there and the burst had x3. On sanctuary both had x3. Both were always cryo. I’m not sure how the game decides whether to give x1, x3, or which element. It doesn’t seem consistent even in the same zone.
Haven’t used the star helix, I’ll have to give it a shot to see how it works.
I use it to tank M3 Badass rockets. The problem is that I can’t see anything.
Yea that’s a big issue with all the visual clutter. The best thing to mitigate this is to try and isolate them one by one and finish them that way. The clone can help with this a lot.
The clone being able to proc Brain Freeze is a plus.
You could always cap this skill with the extra 2 points from fractal frags so just it serves as a safety net instead of being completely unused.
Or if you feel that’s a waste, take a single point from the frags and put it into duct tape mod… Doesn’t give a huge chance to use the grenade so you’ll always have the 3 if your action skill dies, but then it’s potential extra damage that you’re still missing out on.
It’s something I’ll play around with. I fear duct tape mod could end up being a bit more problematic by shooting a grenade way too close to me, but the potential is something that could be useful.
Finishing off borrowed time or even just moving 1 point over to it could be more useful, it’s something I’ll play around with as well.
Sorry if I come across as telling you how to play, I definitely don’t mean that… But as A Zane main the one thing I can’t ever understand is the build that have 3 in fractal frags, but a second action skill and no duct tape mod >. <
I really am just trying to help that’s all, happy hunting
I appreciate the feedback, it gives me something to go back and play around with to better optimize the build. I might try duct tape mod with a couple points in it and try some different grenade mods to see how it goes.
Thanks for the feedback
his power or lack off were never a deciding factor for me when it came to wether or not to play zane. he didn’t appeal to me as much as the others did. he seemed quite similar in many ways to Zer0 which is my least played character in borderlands actually. i don’t hate either of them though.
but now that i’ve realised that zane got some sweet syenergy with cryo, he’s already peaking my interest!! Anything that is focusing on Ice / frost damage in a game is a instant win for me.
On what difficulty are you playing?
Because my clone gets melted in seconds on mayhem 3. Yes, even with boom enhance…
A badass will wipe the clone away in a few seconds.
