Fl4k builds are more flexible and require less grolls imo
Do you want to AFK farm? Zane.
Do you like animals? FL4K
Do you like Deadpool? Zane
Do you like Thanos? FL4K
Do you want to run at the speed of sound even though you know you’re a drunk Irishman and you’ll chunk your chimneys afterwards? Zane
Do you want to play with snipers even though you only have one eye and no pupils so your depth perception is ■■■■? FL4K
This is coming from someone who hasn’t played Zane, but FL4K’s survivability gives many players issues. I play FL4K and a little bit of Moze. You really have to be good with positioning with Fade Away and have a strong mobbing weapon that will give you quick crit cooldowns. If you get caught in the wrong spot, you’ll probably die on end game activities. Zane seems more forgiving from what I’ve seen of him.
Ive noticed just leveling on Fl4k i’m getting downed a ton and my pet seems completely pointless and just does nothing.
Sadly true. The one thing Fl4k misses. While Zane has it twice.
Honestly, I think Zane is weaksauce it is wasn’t for the Seein Dead Com and you are pidgeonholed into it if you want to be competitive.
Fl4k still has more COM Options. Just give us lige steal and we’re fixed 
Guerillas augment is pretty good for leveling, but it falls off in the late game. Not my circus is helpful for the pet taught to draw aggro off FL4K.
Yeah, FL4K certainly would benefit from lifesteal. Mistakes are punished heavily with him. But I rarely go down, even in TTD with Cartels active. It’s all about managing cooldowns and positioning. Now FL4K is heavily gear dependent (like he needs a Brainstormer, Stagecoach, or Recursion for FA mobbing) I would agree with that.
Would you say Zane suffers the same gearing problems? Which one is easier to get online? Asking because I might just end up playing both but need to decide which one to keep leveling.
Fl4k would be busted if he had lifesteal skills tbh. He already has the perks to be the highest dps of the game. I like to think of him as a glass cannon: kill before you get killed. Plus, survivability ain’t so bad, you can just roll a stop gap for mobbing, one with 50% element on ASE if you fade away, and if you wanna roll rakks, if you get a Stop gap with the anoint “triggers special effect on ASS” you’re basically unkillable. I’m fine with no lifesteal on Fl4k, I don’t want all 4 VHs to be clones able to do the same things and healthgate for days to survive.
As for fun, it’s really subjective. I have a massive playtime on both and I actually enjoy them both. I like Zane for the speed/dmg formula, he feels dynamic and having a perma barrier because of good misfortune and seein’ dead feels like a god mode. Fl4k is more slow paced but sheer force and you need to map your fights better in order to survive, or make sure you have the dps to make encounters short.
I agree if all of FL4K’s survivability perks worked, and he had better health regen, he would not need life steal. The problem is that some skills/augments have problems. Not my circus only works when the pet is in melee range, and the pet dies frequently on COV and TTD maps especially with Cartel enabled. Galactic shadow has no appreciable effect. FL4K still gets targeted in FA. Rage and recovery has a weak effect despite 5 skill points invested at the bottom of the skill tree. It’s things like that which hurt his survivability, and if they were fixed and he had stronger health regen, he wouldn’t need life steal.
I’m a little late to the party as I had waited until this was available on STEAM.
I started with Moze and got her through M10 and had fun trying things out.
Now, I decided to try the other three and I don’t feel as much pain trying to level up with Zane as I do with either Fl4k or Amara… I’m lost on how to maximize their potential in the early game without dying a lot!
fl4k mobbing sucks without very specific build like gamma burst or maybe launcher build , but he can melt boss fairly easy since people discover how to stackbot .
zane mobbing is great, all u need is a gun and seein dead but bossing u need a weird setup to do so.
in terms of actual gameplay , fl4k is probably more fun , with zane youre just throw barrier and keep shooting
Reflux (especially the 300%dmg when health is above 90% anoint) is completely busted on Fl4k when it comes to mobbing, really recommend it it’s Brainstormer 2.0, Plaguebearer is amazing aswell for mobbing. And I agree Zane is feels very smooth in mobbing but bosses… he’s strong but you indeed need a weird setup for max damage output. I usually switch to an Antifreeze COM with as much points as possible in Violent Momentum. Got one with +5 in Violent Momentum, and the damage boost I get while sliding is insane. For bosses I usually shoot a Backburner and slide, no boss in the game survives that very long xD
Dont play Zane but I enjoy playing rakk attack flak I’m not sure why people are down on his survivability I dont think its bad unless you stand in the open.
As it stands zane is actually invincible except against meele and pools/splash and just shoots super fast with a standard hitman build and dome shieldseeing dead. Which is boring in and if itself.
Its effortless mindless takes 0 skill to actually play zane.
Flak can make almost all the guns awesome based of the standard far into green and red trees everyone uses. He takes alot more thought and preperation.
So. U have invincible to everything but melle.super speed action skills up forever zane. Which is easy mode.
Zane can heal his health also for a minimum 6 point investment in blue tree. When ur doing hundreds of thousands u need only 2% lifesteal.
And u have flakk highest raw weapon damage around. All the insane one/two shots zane can do through a complicated ritual flakk can do standing.
Flakk isnt a automatic vampire like that but theres options.
Flak takes more thought than zane.
That makes fl4k more satisfying by miles.
But if you like easy mode even at m10

With Zane it’s just kinda happening. And after a coiple of hours I get bored to death.
But that’s just me. To each their own, ofc!
Well, I only play FL4K so I can’t really compare…but I haven’t felt the need to play any other character in part because all 3 of FL4K’s action skills have viable endgame builds and offer unique approaches to the game.
Something I haven’t seen mentioned, is how anointed gear is crucical in endgame builds and FL4K has options to utilize all of the Action Skill releated ones well, something not all VHs can do. This combined with their boss farming speed means it’s a bit easier to get high-quality endgame gear than it is with others.
plus u can pet a skag WHENEVER u want, that is fun :>
That’s true and a nice addition. Fl4k can make good use of ASEs, ASAs and thanks to their Red Fang COM even the 150/50 anointment.
Fl4k is really versatile thanks to the three vastly different Action skills.

Fl4k is the only VH I play because other VHs just don’t interest me enough. Seein Dead Zane and Amara seem so easy and boring. Moze is looking a lot more interesting lately, but I don’t know if I can handle the visual pollution as I am so used to aiming for crit.
I play all 3 Fl4k AS build because they are all different and viable at any difficulty.
Having a maxed out Flak, Moze and Zane, right now Zane is the character to use between those 3. I like the multiple ways to play him, whether it be the favorite Seein’ Dead with sntnl and barrier, or Grenade spamming with barrier, there are multiple anointments that work with Zane giving you lots of flexibility. Cryo, or splash, high fire rate/low damage, low fire rate/high damage, slap grenade to apply melee effects with SNTNL. Easy to use and fun. He’s a win, with the games current state.
